Convoy ordering: Once you arrive at the starting point, line up cars as per your team numbers. Car recording: All car photos and videos will be taken from all sides to verify any damage. Waypoints distribution: Each team will have 30 minutes from receiving the waypoints to start their drive. All waypoints will be given in printed sheets and through WhatsApp to the trip lead only. Radio: Channel 1 will be used for all event coordination. Each team can choose use their channel number and announce. Time Record: Once the team crosses through the two tall flags their time starts and when the whole team returns through the same tall flags, their timing stops. Whichever team completes in the shortest amount of time, will win. Waypoints approach: There will be 5 waypoints that each team and team member needs to visit and make a circle to mark on the GPS track. Any break in the track of any member log will disqualify the whole team. 5-10 meter variance is acceptable for factoring in the GPS and devices anomalies. After completing those 5 waypoints, each team needs to return to the starting point and pass through the same tall flags to stop their timer. Time lag: Each team will leave after 5 minutes of the gap to avoid crowding on the first waypoints. Location sharing: Each team lead needs to share the WhatsApp live location for 8 hours, so we can monitor the progress for safety and verification purposes. The team lead can appoint another team member to share the live location for saving the battery or device usage. Support team and Backup leads: Two sets of backup leads (4 cars) will be positioned on two different waypoints. Reporting breakdown: Any car breakdown, mechanical failure or accident need to be reported to any crew immediately, so that we can mobilize the nearest support. Gaurav - 050 5258706 Srikumar - 055 9567471 Frederic - 056 5042632 Refreshments: Breakfast and beverages will be served after each team returns. P.S. Bring your camping chairs, umbrellas, canopy (if you have) as you might have to wait until all team finishes.

  2. Team Arabian Leopard, Convoy order while airborne: 1. @Lorenzo Candelpergher 2. @Mus_hus78 3. @Daniel Rodas 4. @Humayun Ghias 5. @Niki That is, of course, as long as we will cruise within reasonable supersonic range, say below Mach 5 (approx 4900 km/h). For this part of the drive don't forget your anti-G suit and your ear-plugs for the supersonic bang (see image below). Later in the drive, as we will approach light speed, as you know, the spacetime continuum will start to warp, therefore convoy numbering will be no longer meaningful as we normally understand it, given that most likely we will finish the drive well before the departure time in a space-temporal paradox (see image below), possibly ending younger than when we started. But hey.. as discussed, remember that tomorrow won't be a competition about speed, we are just strolling around for fun.

  3. TEAM ARABIAN WOLVES, I almost forgot. Here is your link to the Carnity Desert Wolves compilation: As mentioned earlier, a mix of aptly rithmic tunes, from Rock to County, from Disco to Lounge, to accompany and motivate us during our quest tomorrow. @JeromeFJ, @Mohamad Anwer, @James Thorn and @Jorge Stepniak Felippe, remember: It's not the destination, it's the journey that matters!!!

  10. Yes please, all team members need to record the complete GPS track. Tampering means, transferring tracks from one device to other, OR editing, merging, splitting the actual event track is completely prohibited. As GPS tracking is the only means to verify so we request all teams for their full compliance, please. This event is not a carnity regular drive and an event to identify "CHAMPIONS" so we expect a champion-like performance without any negligence, excuses, or accidents. Mobile battery drain is usually for lead, so others can start recording and switch the screen off and keep verifying after every few minutes. Yes, all individual GPS tracks of the winning team will be properly verified without any compromise or leniency. Yes please, we need to see the circle on the GPS track to verify that each individual has been to the same waypoint. The variance of 5-10 meters is acceptable factoring the GPS, devices anomalies, but not 50 meters. Yes, you can cover all 5 waypoints however you wish to target. After completing all 5 waypoints every team needs to return to the starting point. Basically, Start and Finish points are the same.

  13. I would have thought that each team would take the same channel as team number to facilitate the support team to communicate with each specific team (easy to remember). hahahaha But then there are superstition and habits.. πŸ˜‚ If you'll notice, as far as I am concerned, whenever I can, I am always on Channel 4 πŸ˜‰

  20. I feel like you @M.SeidamI suppose we can record our track on two separate devices in the same car… one out for navigation and other as backup recording kept in cool box!! That’s no tampering! @Gaurav@Frederic can please confirm!

  21. As mentioned in the beginning. Due to any mechanical failure, breakdown or accident, the trip lead needs to inform any of the crew immediately. We will mobilize the support team asap with the shortest, fastest track we have marked on this entire area. Once the support team arrives and verifies the genuineness of the breakdown, then the rest of the team can start to continue the remaining track. I expect the support team should reach within 15-30 minutes (most likely) but we still mentioned 15 mins - 2 hours, so that this cannot be used as a loop-hole to get rid of the weakest link.

  23. To all team leads and participant you can ask us any question anytime before 6 AM tomo. Once event is live, we will restrict the communication for safety and support reason only. And none of the crew will be able to answer or address any doubts, confusion, to be fair with all participating teams. Answering the new concern over WhatsApp live location (few of you have), please try to share "if you can" without compromising the track log. It is used for monitoring purpose only for safety reason. You can even start and stop live location any time without any issues.

  28. Correct, that's not tampering. As far as phone stays in the same car and doesn't hop on hop off during tricky terrain. But we trust our leads completely for this little loop-hole compliance. Noted: Team Arabian Wolf - Ale - Radio Channel 2. Team Arabian Camel - Marjan - Radio Channel 10

  30. Question 1 - Meeting and starting points being different, the line up as indicated (next to the flag poles) will not be necessary at the meeting point? Question 2 - can we indicate the team's chosen radio channel here? If yes, I'd like to pick channel 2. Thanks

  31. Definitely understand. Only one question to clarify . Will additional phone or device recording in the same time ( and kept in cool box for example ) is not considering any one of the above mentioned? This is realy important Gaurav as there is no place for me to tolerate on my self to disqualify my team just because battery went off or phone overheating issue . Thanks πŸ™

  41. This post is for the bookies out there. Who's going to win? Who do you bet on? I set out to write an analysis but I think I will leave the members to analyze these numbers, as they say facts are stubborn things, but statistics are pliable so, these are the facts: # of Drives is the drives I have driven Drives Completed are total drives the member has completed including other drives. W. Avg Drives are Newbie drives X1 + Febie x2.... divided by total drive. higher the number better it is. Frequency is in days.

  46. A link to the first song of the Desert Wolves compilation, in the works for Friday's drive: Dedicated to all the teams, of course!! Final link to Spotify will follow. As usual, a combo of music from the 70's onward, and from all places: Italian sounds, Disco hits, "lone wolf" Country ballads, pissed-off Rock (hopefully not needed, other then while chasing "prey"), Eastern sounds to soothe, etc.
