Hi @ZULFIKHAR NAIYAR Go for a white LE with 18 inch wheels for the following reasons 1- you will need each and every hp and torque you can squeeze out of the LE VK56VD engine. This is a heavy beast and its power/weight ratio isn't the best 2- you need 18 inch wheels to maximise the tiers sidewall. So at least start with the OEM ones that come with LE version. My tiers recommendation is 275/70R18 that comes around the same diameter as the stock ones 3- the Nissan Patrol is on every corner, and hence the scrap market is full of spare parts. But 99% are white cars. So if you're ok with a white color, it will save you some painting jobs 4- LE comes with conventional suspension system (springs, dampers, and sway bars). Its easier to repair or modify than the HBMC that comes with Titanium and Platinum versions The number of KMs isn't really indicative for this car as much as how well its previous owner took care of it. If you can find a GCC one with agency service history then your good I believe. Nevertheless, this beast isn't gonna be easy on the pockets when it comes for mechanical repairs. On the bright side, again, lots and lots of 2nd hand spare parts If you get the LE version, the bumpers can survive newbie and fewbie drives. But you will need to figure them out afterwards. Tiers, skid plates and clearance, other than that, you wont need any mod unless you wanna go dunes jumping I personally drive a 2019 Patrol and its a blast once you figure out how to control 3 tons on sand

I personally dont think you can find a nice condition Patrol on that price range. You can get a Pathfinder 4.0 very low km 2014-2015 model. It will come under your budget. If you make a 2 inc lift and small trim on front bumper you will have an amazing off road and daily car.

Combining a daily driver / family car and weekend offroader is possible with the Patrol Y62. However considering the fact this will also mean your bumpers will need to be cut/trimmed, and some mods will be needed, perhaps another option would be to buy a good family 7-seater SUV, and buy a separate weekend offroad toy that you can bash around without too much heartpain. I have a regular commuter car that takes me to work, is not stuffed with sand from the weekend drive, consumes a lot less on road, and is low on maintenance. On the weekend i take out my little Pajero and then the adventure starts. Just think about it.

@Shaaz Sha thanks for leading a fantastic drive in a great area, the pace and performance by all was superb! Apart from a few moments of hesitation leading to shovels and ropes it was truly a free flowing drive on challenging terrain. By my calculations we covered 62kms In 3h08m of moving time with an average moving speed of just under 20kmph. Nice to meet some new faces and see some old friends too. First of all, I would like to thank @Carnity and all the Marshals+ the support team @Frederic, @Gaurav Soni, @Jeepie, @Brette, @Russ, @Gaurav, @JeromeFJ (I always remember what he mentioned in his drive report “Let the Raptor be free and use this power! “), @Srikumar, @Niki, @Anish S, @Kailas, @Vanessa8580, @Dodi Syahdar, @Chaitanya D, @Looper who I have driven with so far, making me feel safe and confident in my new hobby (actually passion). You all are true professionals with meticulous planning & execution skills, supporting each other and make this club, a great club to be associated with, where safety is paramount. I still remember my absolute newbie drive on 05.11.2021, super excited and nervous at the same time, waking up every hour the previous night to check the alarm 😅. The last 7 weeks has been one of the most humbling experience I ever had. It has also been like starting a 'new relationship' with my motor. Like any other relationship, we started spending more time with each other to the point where I sold off my second car and started driving my truck to work ever since 😂. We are still in the process of understanding each other's strengths and weaknesses and it's blossoming into an ever lasting one. Lastly, thank you all for your wishes, some of you whom I have driven with, but it's truly welcoming to see from whom I know only by their names or from their previous posts. Few pointers as a preparation for the drive : 1. Keep your car as light as possible with only your offorad gears and required eatables. 2. Try to avoid carrying any extra weight, and if you can avoid passengers it would be even better. 3. Ensure that your car is in the best of shape for this drive as we would be revving it continuously through the entire course of 4 hours. 4. Please ensure that you are at the meeting point at 6:45 AM, a little early would be better. Since its 31st Dec we all would want to get back home to our friends and family in time. 5. Tyre pressure would be critical as we would have long hill climbs, so please ensure that at the start of the drive you are running on the right tyre pressure. To answer the queries raised by Varun: 1. Last week I came to AD, and the time needed for the EDE scanning is just a few seconds while you sit in your car. However, if the test is inconclusive they will do a Free Antigen test which would take about 20 mins. So my suggestions is to plan this 20 mins in your drive to the meeting point 2. The offroad route taken would depend purely on the convoy response as well as the nature of the dunes. So for the moment, I have kept multiple exit options and will be deciding during the course of the drive. However, the approx drive time back to Dubai would be approx 2 to 2.5 hours. 3. The nearest gas station is approx 40 km from the meeting point, and we will need to drive a further 15 km before we hit the dunes. So my suggestion is to carry atleast 10 litres of extra fuel (unless you have a very big fuel tank). If you are coming from the Al Ain side, then the nearest gas station would be https://goo.gl/maps/H6KiuMiH1a9zSFWc9 4. Camping is safe as long as you stay away from bushes and trees. But I would be driving down in the morning. I dont wish to carry the camping gears for just a 2 hour drive from Dubai.

that's exactly what I did lol😄. bumper trim, 2 inch lift, cheap yet powerful VQ40DE. I will give you some pros & cons as a pathfinder (R51) owner for half a decade: Pro: 1. Really powerful engine, and you can push the rpm to red zone without worrying about auto upshifting 2. cheap price but reliable in its category 3. the models from 2013-2015(6) are made in Spain, I dont see overheating issue even the Spanish removed the extra transmission cooler. (Mine is 2010, made in US, I have both coolant & transmission overheating issue during summer.) 4. full independent suspension, comfortable on road, and the highway handling is remarkable compare to other rivals 5. Second & third rows can be put down completely, It's all I needed during house shifting Cons: 1. the 2013-2015(6) ones only come with basic option, no cruise control, no center screen, and no all other buttons, it feels like a utility car. 2. Second & third rows are tight, Nissan has squeezed the second row space to accommodate third row 3. Stock ground clearance isn't enough, you probably will need 1.5-2 inch lift to be more comfortable driving in bushy terrain. 4. full independent suspension + no rear/front diff lock = less articulation, and more difficult to get yourself out once you have 1 wheel front and 1 wheel rear are airborne. 5. Power to weight ratio 122hp/ton, a bare passing score, but enough to get you on top the hills, I haven't failed any straight hill climbing yet, but its weight is indeed heavy @ZULFIKHAR NAIYAR Honestly if you are into Patrol, you can find some 320 HP Patrols with your budget, early y62 come with 2 engine trans options, 320HP (VK56DE)+5AT and 400HP(VK56VD, mentioned by Rawad)+7AT. Fuel efficiency & offroadability are similar, the only (probably) differences are power and ride comfort. I recently have witnessed a 2010 320HP Patrol sold at 4X,XXX AED (below actual market price), with just 100k mileage, incredible condition, so dont give up just yet.

I'm also a patrol user and I drove it stock until the intermediate level and I love it. If your budget allows, having a dedicated off-road vehicle might be better. In my case it was not possible. I trimmed the rear bumper, got 18inch rims so far. Still need the bash plate though.

Ive seen it for sale. I have the manual gear model 3.0 that’s a bit underpowered but is a blast to drive off-road. This one looks well taken care of, but like any 4x4 of this age you’ll need to be prepared to spend some extra money and find a mechanic that’s willing to go the extra mile to find the parts that are getting rare. This was my daily driver for more than two years as well and never let me down. Points of attention are the suspension bushings, cv joints/axles, 4x4 vacuum solenoids, and make sure the engine runs fine and gets good fluids every time without fail. Apart from that these cars are bulletproof and massively underrated. 13k is a good price if all these things are in good condition.

@varunmehndiratta There are 3 routes showing for me approx similar drive time. i would personally take E11 and then E22, can drive max at 160km/h. SO it will not take more than 2hrs to reach meeting point + 15min for fuelling. So its totally doable without camping, factoring you had good rest night before.

I drove to Al Ain last weekend it took literally half a minute. lower windows, a guys scan face through mobile phone, and yallah... of course if you detect positive you might have to spend another 30 min to do PCR test
