  2. Congrats @JeromeFJ for your first partial lead and wonderful trip report that actually reminds me of @Emmanuel (writing style) your first and perfect mentor in the sand. Well done @Islam Soliman for supporting his first partial lead and experiencing the most exciting moment when someone takes the first lead of a real convoy. @Rob S you also picked the right brand - Toyota (best in reliability) that hardly fails and it's nice to see that battery waited till tarmac.

  3. Hello Boys Today when i started i had a thought that i would be the first one to be at the meeting point, but when i reached there i could see most of the attendees where already there. once every one arrived, we were all set deflated and flagged to hit the sand . At around 5.45 AM we entered the desert intending to reach Nazwa , starting from the opposite side of mahafiz tree shades. The terrain was quite tough to navigate with numerous shrubs and concealed steps. To make matters worse the sand in the area was super soft. We had to deal with a few refusals at the beginning, and towards the mid part of the drive we were able to locate some area to attempt some ridge riding and criss crossings ..Towards the beginning of Nazwa @Daniel Rodas had an issue with his steering rack and the car was no longer fit to make it through the sand and we decided to exit him to the tarmac at nazwa. @Gaurav Soni assisted him to the road and we were all back on track. Even with several bulldozer tracks the path from Nazwa to Suweidan was significantly better. We did make use of the offered play areas and you guys were all excellent today. My objective had been to make it up to the 2nd december, but the difficulty we had in the early phase of our drive had taken up enough time. We could attempt a few bowls and sideys. But at . Around 9.15 am , @Nizam Deen car had an air intake filter issue .Once the problem was sorted out, we decided to exit at suweidan as it was already getting hot . Thank you @Michel Van Woudenberg@Nizam Deen, @Mark D @Simon Dawood, @Tom B , @Warren Flay @Daniel Rodas, @Gilbert Khalil, and @James Thorn, for being on time and you all did a wonderful job today. Thank you @Matt.T for being a vigilant 2nd lead. Thanks to @Pacific for handling the convoy from centre. Thank you @Looper for sweeping us and thanks to @Gaurav Soni for joining the drive and for all your assistance in refusals. Thank you guys once again and see you soon.some pics in the gallery

Everyone came together to support each other and even though there were a few stucks and refusals, the patience and teamwork really shone through. thanks to @Islam Soliman and @JeromeFJ for leading an absolutely superb drive, to all the support crew and to every driver out yesterday. Can’t wait to get back out in the sand again. glad to hear the Prado made a speedy recovery @Rob S! American muscle to the rescue…

  8. Thank you @Islam Soliman, for sharing the drive with me today and supporting my first shared lead. It was an amazing experience to have the dunes wide open in front of me, and to draw a line for the convoy ! And a big thank you to all the Leads, Marshall’s, and Support who guided me up to this point. The area was offering various configurations, technical portions, high dunes, wide open portions with some bushes, a few trees for a break in the shade, some camels and gazelles. Very few existing tracks, no other convoy in sight, perfect conditions for exploring. After a few stucks at the beginning, (including a twisted Silverado !) and a pop out rapidly sorted, the convoy was performing really well even if some of the crests were challenging for the long trucks. We had a few deep bowls, nice ridges to ride, a few steep descends, and remote sand valleys to discover. On the way back, finding a way against the tall slip faces was challenging but all drivers were focused, avoiding to get stuck in the soft sand, and we reached the sabkha and the tarmac road without issue. Great support from @Rob S from the middle of the convoy helping in the recoveries with very clear guidance, and perfect sweep from @Imteeaz, who had the additional challenge to pass in the tracks of 3 heavy trucks. @Islam Soliman @RiaanJH @DP1011 @Pieter Potgieter @Patrick van der Loo @Rob S @Awais Zuberi @Nathan @Mark D @Imteeaz, thank you a great team spirit, and for joining that drive that was very special for me. See you soon for the next ones ! @Rob S your battery was kind enough to wait for the exit to die, perfect example of the British politeness! I hope it was sorted out without too much troubles.

  10. Today was the day that 100% confirmed that I picked the right group in joing Carnity. Good and clear briefing as ever from @Islam Soliman. Gym work out shoveling done early on, then into a nice rythem following the tracks setout by @JeromeFJ . Driven with you a few times now and fantastic to be in the convoy for your first shared lead. A calming voice on the radio, clear instructions and great tracks chosen. I don't often take passengers but today I had 2, so of all the days to break down today was not it. Huge thankyou to @Islam Soliman @JeromeFJ @Imteeaz @Awais Zuberi @Patrick van der Loo @Mark D for the team spirit, staying with us till we got to the main road. Thanks to @Nathan for the very humble American tow and taking my passengers back home safely! The Toyota Prado is already fixed and we look forward to seeing you all in the desert again soon!

  12. Thanks @Shaaz Sha and support team for an interesting and very technical drive. It's always nice to drive somewhere new (to me anyway) and some of the tight uphill turns on churned up soft sand were challenging to say the least! The Gods of fortune were not with us today sending us a very generous dose of breakdowns and stucks/refusals which made for slow going. Still, we got safely to the end and with the temperature climbing past 38, exiting was definitely the right thing to do. Nice to meet new faces and especially nice to follow @Tom Bin the mighty Yamato. She shook the ground and made nice deep ruts for the little Gadgero to wallow in. See you all again soon (if I can get on a drive lol)

  14. @Shaaz Sha thanks again for this morning’s drive. It was good to have to opportunity to explore a new area with you. The terrain required our full attention; with lots of nasty little steps! @Looper @Pacific @Gaurav Soni thanks for supporting the convoy. @Daniel Rodas @Nizam Deen; hope you got home safely. @Mark D great effort considering this was your first FB+ drive. See you all on sand soon!

  16. @Bruno Finel @Jose Thomas @KKIRAN @Sudhanva Sonawane @Rajiv Sam @Joji varghese @Gerrit Bus @Jona @eldose baby @Bhaskar Hello Everybody, Thank you for joining the drive this morning and also for being punctual. It was a beautiful morning and temperature was still good at the beginning. As planned we started the drives from Tawi Nazwa where the dunes was forgiving and appeared untouched with no tracks. Knowing that the area around Pink Rock and Big Red will be churned, i spent more time driving in the area closer to Tawi Nazwa. Eventually we moved towards Pink Rock where we took our first break. From this point until the end of the drive, we had lots of cross tracks and soft sand where we started to get some refusals and few stuck. It was amazing to see the teamwork and initiatives taken by the team to shovel. Most of the recoveries were flawlessly managed by @Rajiv Sam As pointed out in the briefing, we had to check the tyre pressure and deflate to the correct PSI to compensate the increase in the pressure due to high temperature. It was quite shocking to see the amount of cables we had to crossed during the drive and the more we were getting closer to Big Red the more cables we were encountering. It was quite challenging to avoid the cables because it was everywhere. Unfortunately, i had to cut the drive short because the my car's gear was slipping in to Neutral by itself and also i was getting hot transmission oil indication. Therefore it was safer to exit to the tarmac where there are better options than in middle of the desert. Luckily, the issue did not happen on the road when i was driving to the garage. I would like to thank everyone for your understanding and cooperation. Huge Thanks to @Rajiv Sam for being an amazing centre forward, @Joji varghese for being awesome sweep and @Jose Thomas as an excellent second lead. I hope you enjoyed the drive and hope to see you soon in another drive, take care. There are few photos posted on the gallery https://carnity.com/gallery/category/1326-fewbie-tawi-nazwa-sharjah-16-apr-2022.

  18. Our convoy was true form of desert wanderers. Explored new terrain. Though it was bit bushy, but loved overall the element of technical. Some good ridge riding and crossing. @Daniel Rodas timely exit, good decision and saved untimely exit of @Nizam Deen . Hope no major 💲💵💶💷💱. Thanks @Shaaz Sha @Looper @Gaurav Soni @Matt.T Had fun, hope to join you guys again . Stay safe and blessed.

  19. I love technical drives and enjoyed every second of today's drive. I have no complaints about the terrain as such, and frankly all the vegetation added a lot more to the character of the drive and it was lot more engrossing because of it. As @Shaaz Sha pointed out in the outset it was an exploratory drive and loved every second of it and it was completely a new route that I had never driven before. We had a great start and finished on the clock, with minor refusals and easy recoveries. Everyone drove exceedingly well I thought, and see you all in the desert soon. A big thanks to @Shaaz Sha for a great drive today. Also appreciate the support from @Pacific & @Gaurav Soni. Thanks to @Matt.T for your excellent 2nd Lead.

  20. Well, we didn’t find any bunnies this morning. What we did found was a group of enthusiasts that were eager to explore some nice virgin areas of Qudra and beyond. Throughout the drive we were able to keep a good pace and only had a handful of refusals, and some excellent self recovery skills by @Yaseen87 and wonderful support from @Anoop Nair. All of you drove very well today ! After having enjoyed the Qudra area, we crossed the road into Al Hathmah and the plan was to make this drive into a nice loop where we would exit at the Love Lakes. Unfortunately @Thian his Jeep hit a bump somewhere after coming off a dune which resulted in an overheating issue shortly after and upon opening the bonnet we noticed the cooling fluid was almost entirely gone and the engine bay was covered in pink coolant. The only option was to disengage the electronic parking brake with the engine off (we had to check in the operator manual), and tow the car out back to the road. As we were on the last part of the drive, we all exited together. I wanted to thank you all for the great drive this morning and the support from all of you ! @Thian i hope the damage is not to severe and you can join us soon again. Take care and enjoy the rest of the weekend !

  23. Dear Friends Thank you a lot for coming and being punctual to find every one just ready for a drive under the full moon 🌕 light . This route is definitely different in the dark relying heavily on my GPS as well as the shadow outline of the dunes and the chimney light as a fixed point to determine direction . @Morshedi my second lead just made it to perfection as expected well done brother. @AlexM doing your first Fb+ in the night with almost zero issue says it all . Nice to meet you my friend. @ASAD. Thank you for the accompany on the road coming from GID and in the sand you did more than great buddy. @Karthik Raptor managing the beast in the dark and some times in a narrow twisties that my Xterra could blearily fit tells how good you understand your mighty machine well done. @Ahmad Shaker nice meeting you again my friend . The night drive is yours now 👍 @Waqas Parvez although a late addition but can never say more than hearty welcome at any time my dear . You drove like a pro. @Vaibhav sweeping in the dark tastes different for sure but you did it as perfect as we felt safe along. Brilliant. @munkybizness you were the key and the true playmaker and I felt you every where not only in the center sparing no effort guiding , helping when ever needed .Thanks for the tug when i dived in the soft 😅 For long periods especially the Quadra part the radio was silent as every one was busy enjoying the night under the moon light ! Wish you all great time and till we meet take care stay safe Seidam

  36. Dear Desertnauts in preparation for tomorrow's drive, there is a change in store for you. As I have just returned from travelling abroad with a bit of sore throat and a few lines of fever, I have agreed with @Frederic, who was listed to support the drive, that it will be him leading tomorrow, while I complete my recovery. It would have been an honor for me to have the Legend Fred as support, and it will surely be an honor for you to have him in the lead. You are in the hands of one of the most expert off-roaders in the UAE. The drive will still start from what we call Bab al Shams area (that is where our Absolute Newbie drives start), just off the tarmac road going and coming from the Bab al Shams Resort. Please, park just beyond the bike track, to the right of the exit, being careful of any oncoming bikers while turning off. The drive, as planned, will explore the western and southern area of the Qudra basin, part of the Al Marmoon Reserve (look out for gazelles and oryxes). Frederic will post the convoy order with the next message. @Paolo Pellegrini, @Andrei S, @Anoop Nair, @Ben Lee, @Ron.P, @Ashutosh Garg, @Ignacio Quindos, @Thian, @george charbel, @Yaseen87, @James Lovell and @DP1011, I will be looking forward to driving with you at the next available opportunity. Enjoy the drive.

  44. Thank you for all the nice feed back, and great meeting you today. Yes we had good drive, despite terrain challenges and formation created after strong wind storm. Lots of sharp crests, sharp drops, bulldozer tracks and many small pockets. However, we all managed to enjoy the drive, all met challenges, the speed and all climbs. Well done everyone. In terms of achievements, I was honestly expecting much more, but as I said due to the changes happened, it was challenging. But still in 2 hours moving time, we made about 60 km. Below is the screen shots of the drive report. Thank you and pleasure meeting you again @Waqas Parvez as SL and @Ranjan Das as SW. It has been long since we last met Ranjan. Amazing drivers was happy to see again and really well done @Vaibhav @Davie Chase @Daniel Yang @Chris Wing @MMansoor @Humayun Ghias @Amir Amiri . Managed to have few photos will be in the gallery. Wish you nice weekend ahead. Take care please Hisham

  45. @Hisham Masaad thank you for the fantastic drive today. It had everything, fast, exciting, excellent dunes to play on, superb climbs and steep declines. cant think of a better way to spend a Saturday morning. However, with all good things come with the not so good lol, so my baby Red Rubicon is at the doctors, having a new bumper put on as we amputated the original one during the drive, (it had already had a bash or two so we just finished what we had started). A big thank you to @Chris Wing for carrying it in your car for the entire drive until i could make space for it. Should have her back up and running on Monday, however, the noise coming from the front differential might take a bit longer the joys of off roading :):) we have the technology to fix her up as good as new for the next adventure (hopefully next weekend) in the sand pit cant wait as today was a blast. Thanks to the team for waiting whilst we severed the remaining tendons that was still holding the bumper on so i could continue the drive. @Waqas Parvez thanks for your support as SL and @Ranjan Das thanks for the excellent support as SW. @Vaibhav @Daniel Yang @Humayun Ghias @Amir Amiri @MMansoor you guys as always drove superbly. What a great team today which made the experience even more enjoyable you were all fantastic and great company.. Pics of the severed bumper in the gallery lol
