Dear friends Please be on time and bring all your passion for off-roading Deflate your tires to 12 psi for all terrain tires and 15 psi if regular tires Please ensure your programable radio is on, fully charged and set to Channel 1 (446,006).If anyone doesnt have a radio - especially the first times with Carnity, will provide you radio for this drive only. Briefing will be done before we start moving Please ensure everything in the car is tied down and there are no moving objects Please check all car fluids, tow hooks, and ensure no hanging parts below the chassis. please ensure you come with a full tank (as much as possible) in addition to all mandatory gear for this drive level specially your 1. tire deflator, 2. pressure gauge 3. compressor, 4. safety flag and 5. radio. (NO FLAG or RADIO = NO DRIVE) For first timers with the club, from your 2nd drive onwards you need to have these gears. To remind you all again your car needs to have 8 inches of ground clearence, 4WD/AWD capability, Front and Rear tow hooks mandatorily. However a compressor is needed as the Air compressor at last exit in Qudra is not working/ very slow . @Suneedh Kkumar - even if you end the drive at 9.45am, it will take you a minimum of 20 to 30mins depending on the speed of your air compressor to re-inflate your tyres back up to on-road driving. So you need to essentially, always keep at least 1 - 1.5 hours gap between your next engagement. As such, if you're finishing at 9.45am, you won't be able to get to Barsha before 10.45am/11am at the earliest.

Dear Desertnauts let's gear up for tomorrow's drive. We'll leave from an unusual meeting point, in front of the National Guard's barracks, just off E14, on Ghantoot's side. From there, after roaming in search of oryx just north of our entry point, we'll drive parallel to the highway, in the direction of Faqa. With this, we'll cross interesting low dune formations, separated by mud-rock formations, we'll coast along the military shooting ground (rounding its south-western corner), to reach Little Sweihan, where we'll zig-zag our way to the tip of this dune field, then we'll cross a couple of sabkhas, alternating with more technical terrain, to reach the Faqa plateau, before arriving at the planned exit point. The drive will alternate places where we can speed up considerably, to others where we'll need to thread more carefully, either due to high dunes of soft sand, or because of the tightness of the terrain. At the moment the convoy order looks like this: @Gertjan in Second Lead @Trekadoat #3 @Gurcharan Mehta #4 @Charbel at the Center @Batuhan Kulac at #6 @Tareck #7 @Imteeaz #8, and @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler in Sweep. Adding to what @munkybizness has conveyed, desert drives are always shredded with uncertainty- especially on newbie drives . It is not like a flight / a Shinkansen with a set departure and arrival time 🤣. depending on situations- stucks/ refusals/ recoveries/ car issues there have been instances where the drive has extended well beyond planned exit time . whole intention is the go in and come out together in any case , hence when there is a issue the whole bunch will have to wait invariably till it is sorted . The time you spend together builds a team spirit along with ample opportunities to interact and know , learn and improvise on the recovery techniques. So please plan accordingly @Suneedh Kkumar. Come with a free mind , enthusiasm and no hurry to rush somewhere.

@Chaitanya D Hi, I wanted to ask if the drive will really only finish at 9.45am? Or do the drives usually finish sooner and 9.45am is the maximum it can stretch to? I have to go to the office at 10AM tomorrow so I am wondering if I can still make the drive as well as get to the office directly from the end point. My office is in Barsha. May take 30 minutes from Adnoc qudra.

Faqa to Lisaili: The Way Back - Drive Report "I know you are tired but come, this is the way" - Rumi Tired we all were, after almost 4 hours into the drive, when a series of stucks occurred, in the most unpredictable patch of "technical" dunes, just next to Lisaili's camel track. But, as the poet Rumi says, we found a way. It took us almost 1 extra hour, with tugs and multiple winch action, but we eventually did it. The tiring last hour of the drive capped an otherwise smooth itinerary, which had however started with @Miguel Codes losing one of his Wrangler's shocks (not to worry ..... evidently Jeeps can do without at least one shock, as Miguel continued and concluded the drive brilliantly). In between, nothing but excellent driving, minor refusals, a couple of quick tags, and a quickly fixed pop-out, to go from Faqa's sabkha, across Desert Highway 66, back up to Murqaab first, and then Lisaili's sabkhas and long-range dunes. From the time the shock was removed from Miguel's car to when we took our first break, it needed only 1 hr and 40 min. to drive up to Lisaili's sabkhas, that is to cover most of the drive's distance. As it usually happens after a break, concentration dropped, which likely caused a pop-out to happen, while exiting a ridge-riding on a long curvy, but low, dune, onto the hard flat surface which often awaits in this kind of terrain. My suggestion, in such cases, is not to let the car slide down the soft slope sideways, but to try and direct the wheels more perpendicularly toward the hard landing point. As we neared the planned exit, I chose to enter an unpredictable stretch of technical dunes: sometimes it is navigated with ease, others it becomes a nightmare of refusals and stucks, with multiple cars struggling to come out of tight bowls and soft ridges. This time it was the latter case. So, after tugging my Second Lead out of a soft bowl (with almost the whole front of the car up in the air), we had to first tug, and later winch, the big F150 truck, which understandably had the hardest time clearing such tight spaces. Considering the time spent with these incidents, we chose to find an easier exit, along the pylon track instead of the camel track. All in all, a great drive by the whole convoy, with a perfect Second Lead executed by @Alexanderrr, a safe and secure Sweep by @Rob S, a steadfast and always encouraging support by Marshal @Vanessa8580 , and a skillful performance by @Zulfikhar Naiyar, @Paolo Pellegrini, @Jessica Lambert, @Ignacio Quindós, @Ivan P, @Miguel Codes, @Pierre de Maigret, and @Gurcharan Mehta. The drive ended up covering 70.4 Km, in a total of 4:55 hours (2:57 of driving time), at 24 Km/h moving average (and 14 Km/h total). Thanks to all, and look forward to seeing you soon.

Dear Desert Drivers, Thank you for signing-in for Saturday morning. The drive will be very scenic, We will start facing the rising sun crossing the Mahafiz area in the direction of Fossil Rock, trying to avoid bushes and shrubs, using portions of tracks from time to time until we reach a few impressive bowls and long dunes. Then we will have a nice open portion of medium size dunes, with views of the mountains opposite a deep valley to our left, until we reach the high dunes formation of Faya, place for a few high climbs or impressive dives. The soft sand will add to the challenges, and all your skills will be needed to control your driving lines. I will indicate the convoy order tomorrow by the end of the afternoon. Please let me know before that if you changed your plans.

Drive report ( little Sweihan ) Approaching closer toward a drive event we usually witness last minute drop outs but to get a drive overbooked in the last hours this is unheard of especially in weekdays drive .Regardless I was so happy and pleased to see friends whom I haven’t driven with them from ages and to catch up with all the familiar ones and with the exception of @Sunil Mathew who informed earlier that might not show due to work every one else showed up bringing along with them their wide smiles and fire 🔥 hearts for this afternoon quick blast drive and it was . when we all were set up I took the shortest route possible on the track ( 15 km ) heading to our play area of today and didn’t take us long to find our self gliding over the soft sand doing all the manoeuvres safely. The biggest challenge for me as a lead was to keep the pace fluid and steady for such a long convoy in this particular area regardless of speed but somehow we could manage despite few stops due to refusals and stucks which was managed promptly and safely as usual . Some self recoverd while others needed a rope and this was just fun and fine . Probably the only miss happen today was when we were attending two stucks @Anoop Nairwrangler slipped from nosedive position and it’s front left bumper hit@GauravSoni’s right rear. Luckily no one was around in the immediate vicinity and the impact was not that strong that the car moved few inches . Relevant pictures taken . No disputes , bumpers rearranged and the drive continues till the end safely. I have to say that I enjoyed todays drive a lot and hope you all did as well . All the time we learn new things whenever we go to the wild and this is the essence we meet we greet we have fun and we learn always . Thank you @Rizwanfor your flawless second lead and reroute in the proper time in the moments of my struggles . It was a pleasure having you today . same goes for @Shaaz Sha it has been for a while since we drove together brother really good to see you with your mighty red Xterra . @Gaurav Sonilast minute addition to the drive it was a pleasure and really sorry of your car hope it’s fixable soon . Hi @Davie Chase, Thanks again for the support on Saturday. A lot of learning went on that day. 😆 Quick question, I see you are using a suction cup mount for your GoPro. Is it a GoPro one and does it stick well in offroading? Have you tried mounting it on the outside windscreen? I have recently repurposed my GoPro for offroading (was a scuba diver until recently) and the dashboard mount is working well so far. I want to experiment with out of vehicle mounting to see if I can get more action videos. Thanks, Emanuel
