I and @Zed were at Swihan today. Please note these words of caution. 1. There was dense fog starting from Dubai till about 12km before Swihan. I was on E611 till I reached E75 truck road. The visibility was about 200-300 ft and I could safely drive about 85-90kmph only and not more. Trucks were not plying on the road and were parked by the side. 2. As soon as I reached E75 which is in Abu Dhabi, I got messages from AD police saying that the speed limit is 80. Because of dense fog and it being single road I did not drive over 75 and some times even less as visibility was quite bad. Again there were no tucks only few small commercial vehicles. 3. I continued to drive at about 75ish KMPH on E16 which is a 140kmph road even after fog was lifted till I reached Swihan because in Abu Dhabi you will get fines if you cross 80 if you have received fog warning messages. In Dubai, you would not get warnings and you should have issues but, as per the rules you should be below 80 kmph. 4. My planned time was 1:30 hours to reach the destination but the speed limits added about 20 extra minutes to the commute time. So plan accordingly. DRIVE SAFE. Great job everyone, new fb+ and old ones. Thank you for joining, and special thanks to drivers from Abu Dhabi. Started almost on time, with little delay due to foggy weather. The plan was as mentioned earlier to start with big red and finish by faya, crossing pink rock and Sweidan area. Unfortunately, with the news received that both are surrounded with fences, plan changed. We spent some time warming up on big red dunes, and then the actual fun transferred to badayer. Amazing performance by everyone, with few refusal, one stuck and one pop out. Thank you very much @Ranjan Dasfor supporting us, @Ashutosh Garg for the powerful and full adherence SL and @Sunil Mathewfor sweeping us, till the loss of the flag of Ranjan Das. Thank you all for joining the drive today. We had a great time in great company ! Between the bushes and the cross tracks it was bumpy in many places, but we know it is part of it. The small bowls of the first portion were perfect to warm up and get that feeling of the required acceleration, just enough, but not too much, and the importance of choosing the correct line. Then the portion after the Fossil Rock offers as usual beautiful views of the mountains, but requires concentration and good control of momentum, and today with the soft sand, it was the place for a few refusals, all of them easily solved. Finally the big climbs on the side of Faya dune were particularly challenging today, with the unbelievable amount of tracks around. Congratulations to the ones who made it to the top, and to the ones who made several attempts. As you have seen, it is really a combination of car + driver, as choosing the proper line, proper gear, and dosing the acceleration are all important parameters that come in addition to the power of the car itself. Tire pressure has also its importance in these moments where every parameter counts. @Mike. Thank you for the 2nd lead, very well executed. A bit more determination will help you to go through the obstacles. @Benjamin, excellent 1st Fewbie drive, good control of your car and perfect radio comms @Zubair, very good 1st Fewbie also, controlling your acceleration to keep a continuous momentum will help controlling your trajectory @Jaro Tuzinsky, you had a difficult stuck, but for the rest, very nice drive, with a good focus in the bowls. @Rajiv Sam, thank you for the support, guiding fellow drivers and rerouting when needed. You have seen that the FJ has great capabilities ! @Brett Eicher, always a pleasure to see the classic Cherokee in the drive. You know how to take the most of it. Great drive as usual Hisham. @Ranjan Das your instructions to get the car from that ditch were impressive; I never thought he will come out without being winched out or on all 4 wheels Unfortunately no one had a camera handy to document how tilted that car was.. Good job. See you next time.

Yesterday evening was extremely humid resulting in the fog this morning. Lets keep the meeting time still at 6:00 AM, incase anyone is running a bit late (due to fog only), they can put a message on the forum or give me a call on 055-9567471 and we would wait for them. Please note that the speed cameras in Abu Dhabi reduce to 80 km/h in the event of fog, so please drive below that to avoid getting unnecessary fines.

Cracking good fog this morning! I left home in plenty of time thanks to Abu Dhabi's awful fog alarm (which every mobile phone holder in the emirate gets blasted with for free) and complied with AD's 80kph limit all the way to Sweihan. It was a pea souper all the way along Al Taf until I was virtually at the meeting point. The dunes were like a frat party with hoons and drongos roaming like drunken crows (but with less discipline) Never mind, @Vanessa8580 runs a tight ship and soon we had trundled off in a compact little convoy to taste yet again, the mighty Al Ain sand sea. Lovely cool morning turned into a lovely hot morning after a few refusals and stucks but the progress was good. Thanks to @Davie Chase for all of the hard work at centre forward, my tasks at second lead were relatively simple by comparison. Thanks to @Looper and the late @Zed for bringing up the rear and having the most fun. The only Fewbie I could observe directly was @Jessica Lambert and my observation is that she drove immaculately! never a wheel wrong. Nice to meet you @Paul Zietsman and @Zulfikhar Naiyar I hope today met your expectations and that you progressed your learning. We all start somewhere (now get to the wheel and tyre shop STAT!)

Thank you @JeromeFJ for a brilliant drive this morning. Drove with you 2 months ago in the same area which was one of my favourite Carnity drives. Today was equally as good albeit a completely different challenge. The area must have seen a lot of activity as the cross tracks were unreal. Safety and maximum enjoyment is the overwhelming feeling on your drives! @Brette great to see you again, thanks for the support. Great SL @mike, great to see you back on the sand. Dear Desertnauts, We all geared up and what a drive! First to find the starting point in the dense mist! The drive had a the variety as promised. Between dunes, ridges, sabkhas and technical area's it kept us at full alert at all times. The scenery was beautiful. Managed to capture a few pics - all loaded in the gallery. With a tug, shovel and re-attempts here and there we still managed to cover a great distance. Thanks for @Ale Vallecchi for a great route and support from @Charbel, @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler and @Kailas. See you all on the sand soon.

This Marshal title is an epitome for all levels in the offroad grading structure. So if anyone wants to grow, they can set any of Carnity Offroad Club Marshal as a PERFECT example for not only following the driving skills and style but also observing their behavior, teamwork, presence of mind, calculative approach, patience and tolerance to teach and support new offroaders.

i'm putting ahead apologies & heads-up since I came late today for Vanessa's drive due to fog 😅 So for those who don't know, if there's Fog, all Abu Dhabi cameras that are online are automatically set to 80 km/h. This means there's no use driving 120 through the fog as you risk both fines and accidents... but i'll try to leave 3hours earlier 😂

Top session all amazing session and a great way to start the weekend. @Frederic 24.779483,55.313499 I camped there so between 11am and 3 am stars were standard but at 4am all I can say is wow. Not quite liwa wow but still fantastic Too kind bro
