  1. So I used to receive many fake whatsapp text from the "lucky Etisalat draw" asking me to give them my IMEI and other information to "prove" I was the winner. This goes without saying that this is a scam. Anyway, I changed my phone number some months ago and all those texts and calls stopped. (Or so I thought) Yesterday I started to receive again weird calls from Indian fellas asking me about something that I did not understand given their thick accent, at the end since their scam call did not succeed they just hanged up. Then I also started to receive whatsapp text from "my bank" saying my card was blocked and that I needed to contact the phone number listed in the text to unblock my card. By this point I just had it with this, I was not going to let these criminals be unpunished and contacted the police. I gave them all the information and the police called me to make sure I did not fall or was victim of these scams, then they thanked me because I reported these people. Please, please, please report any of these sort of calls or texts to the police. This is the only way you can make sure there are no victims. They have a very simple tool, all you need to do is go to http://ecrime.ae and follow the steps it will not take you more than two minutes.

  2. And some of them never bother to do the scheduled maintenance. This I am stating out of personal experience. So like Gaurav said it doesn't matter who has driven it as along as it's regularly maintained.

  3. Good observation from the forum latest post, lol. I will say if 2016, then go with the full service history at least. Even if you have to pay a little extra that shows the concern of an owner towards a car. 90 out of 100 times those cars with FSH driven with utmost care and especially by HUMANS and not hooligans. Also worth to get an RTA comprehensive test if you are 100% sure of buying to let it reflect any issues or accidents. Check the service interval are regular as per time and kms - most important. Check any recall and whether it has been done at an agency or not. https://carnity.com/recall/mitsubishi Don't fall for lady driven trap, as its useless and sometimes more riskier due to bumpers touch-ups.

  5. Funny that GAC was called Trumpchi before but they decided to change that name when they entered US markets Do you want to go for the 2WD or the 4WD version ? There is a definite price difference according to Drivearabia website. Considering that you are in the same price region of the base Pajero, or a Korean SUV like Hyundai or Kia, i'd be a bit more inclined to stick with the more well known brands, but that is just me. They won't come with all the bells and whistles of this Chinese SUV. The 2.0 Turbocharged 4 cylinder will be more economical than a 6 cylinder, so that is a good thing to have on your commute. On the other hand, having a 4 cylinder in such a big SUV might mean that the Turbo will have to work hard, and in this climate this might not be the best thing. It's definitely worth a try, and it is a fact that the Chinese are coming up strong. Have you checked the HAVAL H9 ?

  6. Two of my colleagues lost quite some money from their creditcards over the past few months. It is still a mystery how they were able to use the creditcard details to access their account. Thanks for the link !

  8. Normally for such low mileage they would have a service contract with Al Habtoor. So it would be easy to check the service record

  11. Can anyone give me their thoughts on the GS8 from Gac motors. I just need an SUV for daily commute from Abu Dhabi to Dubai and back. The features it offers and a great price and good mileage maybe. Any thoughts are welcome.

  12. Let me present to you the Baja 1000. This a 800-900 miles race in the State of Baja California, Mexico. This is done every year since 1967. It allows various types of vehicle classes to compete on the same course with classes for cars, trucks, motorcycles, ATVs and buggies. My dad was asked to build two cars for 2010 truck class (it won 1st place) and 2011 buggie class (it won 2nd place). We used to go every year to watch the race.

  15. I have two friends that fall in this category, I just call them mall crawlers. I always prefer function over form specially in off-road where a lot of things can and will go wrong.

  16. My car was had one. I wish i hadnt. I dont like the looks it messes the simetry. But if you have one you cant remove because some pretty genius person already cut the fender for that. But the logic in here not for water passes. For getting cleaner air from top. Sometimes when you are driving close there are many sand and dust coming from front car.

  17. Gaurav is bang on with his post. It's not needed here, the 0.5 hp you gain from CAI with it is lost with the massive restriction of the snorkel. Most here usually prefer form over fuction. All these jeepers with armour plated bodies 2 inch steel bunper. 6 inch lift kits massive knoblly mud tyres and enough lights to light up a stadium only use it to go to the beach on the weekend in the winters.

  20. Hahahaha I feel the same, but be aware that lots of things are “set up” for the show, and is not always fully realistic. But I love Fred his approach to cheap cars and especially their budget fixes and road trips.

  22. The rule of thumb is 1 additional HP for every degree drop in temperature but I was talking about the snorkel as some people also claim CAI boost from it. And unlike Sheep the Land Rover Defender comes with a much more cooler looking solution or

  23. Thanks for the reply Frederic. I haven't checked out Haval H9 yet. It looks like a Prado though. It's also cheaper than the GS8. Do tell me your thoughts on Korean brands. Thanks again

  27. Having said that, it makes a perfect sense to move air intake higher to avoid low flying sand, however, in almost every car it's been placed in the front fender and concealed with loose plastic and most of the time it faces backward to avoid such low flying sand. Last year I and Rahimdad spotted a wrangler with air intake from Injen and it was kind of snorkel but not with long tube protruding higher than the car, instead it has small rectangular box stuck on side of the hood (neatly), facing backward means its sucking air from halfway up and also not getting impacted with long tube travel.
