i have experimented with the whole onboard compressors for a year and i have quite a bit to share on this. I initially went for a camel chinese compressor and got it wired into the battery through the side panels. The setup was great until i shot the compressor once as i overworked it. After that, I replaced the compressor two more times and i gave up since i wasnt able to identify the reason why the compressors were dyingin this setup. I then went for the bushranger super max (which is not as fast as the camel chinese but way more reliable as it comes with 5 years warranty)and i have been happy ever since. But i now realize that the main culprit was the wire. The most critical element in this setup are the wires as they should deliver the required amperage to your compressor. If the power delivered is not sufficient, your compressor will work but not for long. So bottom line is that you could go for the camel chinese compressors but you will need to ensure that you get the right wires for the setup. My bushranger requires less amps than the camels, so the current wires do a great job, but if i swap it back to camel, then it will eventually die. 

However having said all of this, even though i have not personally used the arb twin pistons, i know that it is the best setup and there is a garage that is running a promotion right now whereby they are providing the unit and installation for 1999.

due to some personal reasons, i will be cancelling participation for this drive and ill join the newbie drive instead

congrats @Jamy B.. good to have an addition to the x-men team besides myself and @Emmanuel. Your offroad version is more powerful than our X's since you have the higher 3.54 gear ratios and also with the diff lock, you can get out more easily from stuck situations as well.

I clearly remember a few months ago when we were driving in maliha and when i saw you tackling a rather tricky dune climb, and i was like - "Man she knows how to drive", because i was expecting a refusal at that point. You truly deserve this promotion and it is great to have you and @Wrangeld in our club. Congrats once again.

Congrats @Wrangeld. This is a well deserved promotion indeed. I think  @Rahimdadbhai and @Frederic have already beaten me to whatever i wanted to say 😁 but nevertheless, i must still say that it is an absolute pleasure having you and @Jeepie as a part of our club.

Can’t wait for the next liwa drive posting. I ain’t missing that after reading @Frederic and @Rahimdadbhais reports.

I have a situation due to which it’s not certain if I can make it for this drive so as of now, I’ll decline. If there is a change, I’ll sign up back for it as soon as I get the update.

congrats @Frederic. you are a great mentor and i couldnt be happier for you! congrats once again and looking forward to many more rocking and exciting drives with you buddy.

yea i also get my car mostly washed from sharjah for 37dhs. And in my opinion, they do a better job than their dubai counterparts that take around 60-100dhs to do the same job.

Upon reaching the meeting point and realizing that @Javier M and @Srikumar are not making it, i realized that I would have to step up to a sweeping role. Although this is not the first time I have sweeped, I knew I would have to be very attentive on this drive. I was anticipating a difficult day ahead since there werent any senior members besides @Frederic who was leading. 

So as the drive commenced, I rolled up my sleeves(mentally), ready to get down and dirty with rescues, shoveling and basically gearing up to all kinds of recovery methods. But what happened instead was - a very smooth drive whereby the radio was barely used since everyone managed like PROs!! We had 2 pop outs and those were the only occasions where we actually stepped out of the cars and caught up with the other drivers. 

Kudos and a major shout out to @Frederic who effortlessly, led the convoy, keeping the skills of the drivers in mind, due to which we were able to tackle the trail quite comfortably and I think i speak on behalf of all the drivers. Thank you for the detailed write up as usual @Wrangeld, it is always a pleasure to read trip reports of such fun filled days as you paint a beautiful picture through your words.

actually @Roshan Abraham downsized from 18 to 17 but because of the bigger tires and rim offset, his tires were constantly hitting the fenders. he then got it lifted to solve the problem

i see a lot of people witnessed hail in many parts of the country and i havent seen anything and i stay in abu "hail" 🤬

The cheapest ride i have owned till date is the truck i currently own - my dearly beloved Xterra which i picked up last year for about 25k. All purchases prior to that (pajero SWB 2002, Pajero LWB 2009, VW tiguan 2011) were more in comparison.

Just like @Frederic mentioned, i have always wanted to get a teeny tiny car for the shorter trips and I really want to get a Tida as I feel it fits the bill.

Besides that, I would like to go for better suspensions (adjustable ones to be precise), a cold air intake and get chip tuning done. This is the plan but my wallet is sadly not on board with my plans 😬 #keepdreaming
