    Hello @Chaitanya D
My plans changed so am able to join your ride tomorrow. Am looking forward to it!
I understand (and have paid the fuel bills) my Prado has a 150-litre fuel capacity, comprising two tanks (an 87-litre main and a 63-litre auxiliary). That should be sufficient right?
    Cheers,
    Patrick

You should have 100L fuel at the starting point . So you should be good

@Salman Farooq is this is your first drive with Carnity??

I see you don’t have any drives mentioned in your profile which means you have to join a absolute newbie drive first - mandatory in Carnity off road club.

Important check list for all members signed up on this drive

please read thoroughly and acknowledge by clicking totally agree

    1. Please ensure that you are there at the meeting point on 7:30 AM sharp. Late comers would be sent back.
    2. Firstly, get lots and lots of rest the previous day. The more the better as Liwa will not only challenge your vehicle but your mind as well. We would need your complete focus and fatigue due to less rest is the last thing that is needed on such a terrain. For those who prefer camping the previous night, you can do so at the starting point as its a nice spaced out area. Bring some firewood incase if you wish to have a bonfire to keep you warm. Cleaning up after the bonfire is mandatory.
    3. Ensure that your 4x4 is well serviced recently and all the lubes and fluids are topped up.
    4. 20 Liter / 40 litre fuel jerry can is needed depending on your vehicle. If you have any doubts, please post your query on the drive post and we will assist.
    5. A full fuel tank at the meeting point.
    6. Spare tyre should be in good working condition. If not been used recently, ensure that you take it out and check the condition properly. Also ensure that you have the wrench that can be used to remove your tyre (if needed). In the past we have seen that people upgrade their tyres but still keep the the original wrench which is of no use to remove the upgraded tyre. So please ensure that your car has the right tool to remove the tyres (if needed).
    7. Air compressor, proper shovel, flag, fire extinguisher, first aid kit,
    8. Fully charged radio (tuned to all Carnity Frequencies) with spare battery / radio. If you have a car charger for your radio, please bring it along.
    9. Please ensure that you know how to switch off traction control (turning off Air bags is not mandatory for this drive). If it requires pulling the fuse, please research before the drive or better still, post your queries on this drive post and we would assist.
    10. Car charger / battery pack for your mobile.
    11. Plenty of water, approx 5 litre per person per day.
    12. Bring along your breakfast, lunch, snacks, etc in easy to eat packing. We shall be having breaks in between the drive.
    13. Dry food, energy bar, cookies, nuts, crisp to munch while driving
    14. Bring garbage bags along to carry your trash. Littering in the desert is strictly prohibited.

Please read the above post and agree.  Make sure all points are taken care of

The medical kits sold in pharmacies seem complete, but I am curious if there are comments about what we usually find in them and what items could be added.  Perhaps, could we get suggestions from those members who practice medicine, Drs.  @Chaitanya D and @M.Seidam, or anyone else working in the healthcare sector directly or as supplier?

Nothing beats prevention, safety and awareness of your surroundings, but accidents may happen: while driving, recovering a car, even whilst sitting around a bonfire, it is with these scenarios in mind that kept me wondering whether the items in a basic first aid kit are enough.

Furthermore, fact is that is not just about having the "tools" but knowing how to use them, does anyone know of first aid trainings available in UAE?

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks @Mario Cornejo for bringing up this topic .Generally for cuts and injuries , most kits have the materials needed

i woukd definitely advise to keep few tablets of antacids - nexium or pantop and anti motion sickness (Dramamine) meds. Along with some glucose or sugar especially if you are diabetic.

Having said that paramedics (especially with the ambulance) generally have much better knowledge than me as I am a practicing surgeon (exclusive for hand and microsurgery) who sees patients well after they have been stabilized.

i am planning to bring my wife and my 3 year old son, among for this drive. My son will be well strapped in a baby chair appropriately as always. Also I will be carrying all his supplies along with ours. Hope it’s should meet the needs and kids are allowed on this drive. He has already been on a BBQ drive and had enjoyed. Just let me know if any concerns.

Hi dear @Sudhanva Sonawanecoming with small kids for a full day drive in Liwa is not allowed . Terrain is vast and challenging with no close exits just in case

@Chaitanya D 1 X20L can should be enough for 3.8/V6 Pajero right? please let me know if i need more. I also plan to be there overnight. :)

Please calculate as per your current fuel tank. What is advised is to have a combined fuel of 100 L when you arrive at start point.

First a photo to summarize our experience, then trip report below:

Obviously it's @Asif Hussainbhai who likes to climb these, but @Rizwanm2 also reached similar heights... these XTerra-ers are like cats when they see trees, itching to climb 😂 (btw WhatsApp me for the videos if you want since gallery doesn't accept videos anymore)

    Trip Report:

We started off with a nice weather, you can even feel the sand under the feet are cold. Our dear Marshal Dr @Chaitanya D commanded that I should keep some distance, so I did... but then he ran off at 50km/h playing hide-and-seek: I could see his flag hidden behind the dunes and I keep seeking where in tracks did he go to 😅 That was a fun first-half, lots of high-paced criss-crossing and throttling-on-every-flats.

Second-half was very technical, the sand is so soft that when you park, the cars would slowly sink... some refusals and stucks, but nothing that took more than 15mins to recover.

At the end of the technical track, we were awarded with a nice play area as seen in the photo above. It's like seeing gold after shovelling dirt & sand (literally) 😁

I would like to thank our Lead Dr C who trusted me as 2nd Lead and dealt with my banters 😂 Our CF @Rizwanm2 who helped everyone who got refusals and stucks. Our Marshal Sweeper @Asif Hussain who ensured no one is left behind 👍🏻

Also fellow drivers whom I enjoyed chatting before interrupted by our strict time-keeper @Aisha S, Dubaians @munkybizness @Anoop Nair and Sweihan Boy @Josh T. , see you chaps in Liwa!

Love your report with admiration @Zed 💙. Great to have you for the enthusiasm, energy and laughter you bring on the drives .

Mean while I caught you doing a lot of shoveling 😜when I was stuck 594A8D79-9848-426B-AC73-A6D85B2577C3.jpeg.41ad2923d40168f685d8a2204babf3f5.jpeg
