Today I would like to talk about the cold air intakes. From what I can see in some threads in this site there is some controversy on whether they are worth it or not. What are Cold Air Intakes 🤔 How to pick a good intake 🤩 Where can you buy one 🤑 What to expect from Cold Air Intakes Personal choice In my opinion they are worth it, however, not all cold air intakes are made equal, you will get different results based on the design of the particular intake you choose. But let's back up a little to understand what cold air intakes are: What are Cold Air Intakes 🤔 Think of a factory air intake system as like having a cold that clogs up your head and restricts your breathing. Now go running. It's not going to work very well is it? A cold air intake allows your engine to finally breath. Cold air intakes move the air filter outside of the engine compartment so that cooler air can be sucked into the engine for combustion. Cooler air brings more oxygen (denser air) into the combustion chamber and that means more power. The filters are usually moved to the upper wheel well area or near a fender where there is more access to free flowing, cooler air and less hot air from the engine. Not only does a cold air intake reduce the air temperature, but it also increases airflow. Aftermarket intakes remove the need for a box surrounding the air filter and instead use large diameter intake tubes that are smoother, have less bends and are often wider than the original factory ones. Removing the air box and using smoother tubes gives the engine uninterrupted airflow. See the example below, this is the stock intake of a Jeep, look how restricted it is!, all stock intakes regardless the car model are meant to be restrictive on purpose, why? - Well, it really has to do with reliability and making sure no dirt enters the engine, the problem with this approach is that the engine is always working with lower oxygen levels than with a cold air intake. 2. How to pick a good intake 🤩 In order to look for a good design you need to make sure you move away from the stock design, this means you should look for a less restrictive design, in my opinion these two below are bad options because there is not much difference between the stock and these two, I am not say you will not see some benefits, but you will not be taking as much advantage as you would with other designs. In my opinion, the simpler the better, the less restrictive the better, you should be looking for similar designs with exposed filter like these two: The filter type (dry or wet) does not matter as much as the intake design as this will make sure constant cold air goes in the engine. 3. Where can you buy one 🤑 There are many places in the UAE you can buy them, it will all depend on your vehicle and budget, here are some options: Argoob.com Ramy ICON Auto Off-Road Zone I usually buy from the US from carid.com or rockauto.com because they can ship to the UAE with no issues and the prices after shipping tend to be very similar to the UAE prices, with the advantage of getting a far more superior product than the limited selection in the UAE. 4. What to expect from Cold Air Intakes Be realistic, don't expect to have a 500 HP beast after installing one of this. The typical HP gain is around 6 - 15 HP depending on the weather conditions etc. (If you see them advertising more than 15 HP they are cheating you). 5. Personal choice For my Jeep I picked the Injen cold air intake, the reason I picked it was that it is a well known brand for performance parts, and they had the perfect design for my particular application. Since I was going to go off-road and a lot of sand is in the air, I needed something that was not restrictive and yet had extra layers to filter the sand. So I picked this design, this is not a closed design like the ones I showed you above, but instead the walls are made of filtering material (see last picture).

You can enjoy the rocky formation and clear water shoreline is amazing, of course with sandals as the beach is mixed with sand and rocks. If you plan to stay here for long, you should carry enough water and food as there is no grocery or cafeteria nearby. You can fill up the petrol in the last Adnoc Fuel station at Qareen Al Aish and pack up the food supplies as this Adnoc gas station is big enough to have a convinient store, ATM, restaurant and toilets. Essentials: Outdoor clothing and closed footwear, few good torches or flashlight if you plan to stay after dark. Online GPS is a must for driving (offline is even better), carry plenty of water and food if you plan to stay outdoors for long hours. Keep it clean: Don't litter anywhere, because trash cans, plastic and glass kill wildlife. Emergency: If bitten by a snake or a Scorpio take a picture or remember the colour and size and rush to the nearest hospital for a specific antidote for that species. Its the type of lens that spreads the light generated by LED Cree bulb. So as you move from 3D to 6D a small Led bar would generate more light spread than a lower number LED light bar. In Toby's i recently saw a single line 24" or 32" (dont remember the exact size) 6D light bar which generates the same amount of light spread as my current double line 52 " 5D led light bar. But before buying check where you plan to mount the light bar in your car and get the desired measurements and then go shopping. Also, get a proper wiring with a switch + fuse installed

I also called Al Nahda as @Gaurav suggested before purchasing these and it seems their prices were higher. Also, the 3+1 Yokohama deal was on Pitstop Arabia if I'm not wrong and it was only for 2017 tyres. Maybe i missed the 2018 deal? Anyway, thanks to all for their really valuable feedback I've learned so much in this purchase really. I hope A/T G012 turns out to be good choice for me as I am not a heavy off roader but got really tempted by all the test videos I checked on Youtube for this tyre 😁 and i just want something like that whenever i go off roading. I will also be buying Hankook Ventus Prime tires for a Hyundai Veloster 215/40/R18, which apparently also are OEM for Velosters. There's not much of a price difference on Pitstop Arabia and Future Tires themselves, so thinking of just ordering them online from their to the nearest available workshop near my place (Stop & Go in Motor City).

This is not the issue of oversize tyre. This is a common problem with the Pajero after a desert drive. You had hit the front bumper and it has moved in a little. Since it's made of fiberglass you cab just pull it out. No point spending money in a workshop. If you plan do offroading i suggest to remove the lower plastic black lip (where you have circled). There are only two bolts and would help a lot

OK let me break it down slowly: Guest can browse, but with the popups. I am not sure if i explained myself correctly. I was using the forum normally as usual. But forum pushed me to get this active member logo under my avatar. Until i click and get it pop ups never stopped. I guess next month also it is going to push me to get it. If it is mandatory to get this logo, it can be done automatically. If it is not mandatory it shouldnt pop out every time i open any page. It is making the forum impossible to use specially if you are accessing trough phone.

Every car has a specific tire pressure mentioned on the driver door sill and in the owners manual, check both and follow that. If in doubt, stick to 30-32 PSI and you should be good.

Hahahaha, good salesmen. I'm using Motorola MT777 from 5 years and after 4 years its battery started to die and I bought another one. Maybe make a new post here of buying a bulk radio and get few newbies so that one of you can go to DM and buy it off for everyone, just a thought. @Emmanuel can share a shop from where he bought bulk for 150 per piece. For tomo drive you can use the spare radio, we have for newbies.

@Javier M maybe you can post some details on your cold air intake with the place where to buy it and how it has helped in the overall performance. I have that in mind for the next upgrade and now that you mentioned that it passed the RTA test, I am really keen to go ahead with it.

No, you don't need that paired model that will only talk to each other device, but you need a configurable model that you can configure to a common frequency and communicate with the whole convoy. Motorola MT777 is the best Crony CN888, Baofeng, Kangda also very nice as far as you can configure them to use UHF. Read more below When buying a two way radio make sure you buy the UHF and not the VHF version.

I don't know if you can pass RTA with the cone filter but you can pass it with the cold air intake. I just did RTA renewal and passed with no issues with my cold air intake. 🤔I must admit I thought they were not going to to pass it.

Not only these. Carnity also pushed me to be a Active Member. Until i sign for that in every single page i open there was a pop up. It is extremely annoying.

@JocreativeI believe these pop-ups disappear once you sign in. Were you signed in your account whilst browsing? It's a good thing at least on this site there are pop-ups which you can close. Some websites don't show the close window icon and want you to guess where it can be located on a screen. And some even don't let you browse if you have a pop-up blocker installed!

And 6D being the best in brightness, go with that only.

When you are buying, check the kind of lens because you get them in 3D, 4D, 5D and 6D lens as well. You can read about the difference on the internet.

Unless there is visible evidence of sludge in the engine, which there shouldn't be if you have been doing regular oil changes with the correct oil, you will be wasting good money.

Popups are a pain in the ass. I always browse in private mode because some of my google searches might be erm..... questionable. I like to scroll through carnity sometimes without logging in and it bugs me. But hey, that’s the price to pay. I would like to make a suggestion. Some people should be awarded lifetime legend membership for their dedication and long term commitment to the forum, like @Gaurav @Rahimdad @Srikumar @treks @desertdude amongst others, sorry if I didn’t name someone, it’s just an example. People like this have already cut their corn and should be recognised for it. Personally, I’m happy with my membership level now. @Carnity knows the privileges I have, but not having access to private messages lately has been a blessing in disguise.

I am posting this just in case some of you are facing this issue in the future because this is a very common issue for all FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) owned brand cars like Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram. When I originally bought my Jeep probably a week after I started hearing a clicking noise coming out of the dashboard, I would hear it when I opened the door or when I was driving the noise would come up all of the sudden, one google search after and everything pointed to the AC recirculation actuator or better called A/C Heater Blend Door Actuator, one quick sear in autozone.com and I had the part number (604-029) and the price $27 USD (around 100 AED). I called some shops and even the dealer and they all gave me the UAE "premium" price of 600+ AED literally five times or more of what the actual price in the US was. I called some shops explaining what the issue was and most of them said they needed to take a look at the car, which is pretty reasonable but I just did not want to waste my time with shops that were not familiar with this issue. Since I was convinced this was actually what was wrong with the car I decided to order it from the US. (- NOTE: I am not advising you to just buy it, I would advise you to take it to your prefered shop to confirm this is the issue). One week later it arrived and just took it to the shop and told them to install it and voilà! I never hear the noise again.

It's only brightness is the main difference and that itself MATTERS a lot I got a dinky light for below bumper (maybe 3D or 4D) without knowing this and didn't felt any big difference. Then I got the 6D for the top and that made a huge difference that I can see 100-200 meters clearly

They should be fine, I got my set from them also and they have their tires unwrapped due to the chaos. Enjoy, great choice.

Mind finally settled on the A/T G012. Got the tyres from Future Trade ! I've got a really great price on the purchase. The shop was absolutely chaotic and only quietened down towards the end. The reason I got such a great price was due to the chaos actually where an hour into the shop after taking off my old tyres, they discovered that they dont have G012 for 2018. They offered 2019, I got annoyed, and in the ensuing confusion they agreed to offer me the 2019 tyres at same price of 2018! The small bit that I drove after installation, car feels completely new. Just a question: Is there some loophole in this deal? I checked tyres are from 2019, though to my surprise they weren't wrapped up and were already dirty due to lying open in the godown and transferring to the main workshop etc.

Don't forget to plan before hand where you gonna stick it first as there is no meaning in getting a 50 inch bar and having a 24 inch space in the bumper....

I almost did not make it to this due to the short notice as I had already some commitments for the afternoon. Luckily I was able to move them for the morning before the afternoon drive. Unfortunately I won't be able to join the morning drive, sorry @Rahimdad.
