Thank you all for the kind words. I am so honoured to have been awarded this position. (It does feel like an award) Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever be a Carnity Marshall. I’m chuffed to bits I remember my first drive with @Desert Dweller(Jamy), who introduced me to Carnity, I was her passenger, and we were both really scared with the first up and over dune. We looked at each other and said “They want us to do what? OMG!” 🤣 However, under the incredible guidance of the Marshalls at that time @Gaurav, @Emmanuel, @Frederic, @Srikumar @Ale Vallecchiand @Rahimdad. I found my desert wheels, and my confidence grew. I met others along the way, @Wrangeld @Chaitanya D @Vanessa8580and @Brette all of whom helped me and passed on their knowledge. I’ve had terrible drives, Sweihan springs to mind, where I think I was stuck more than I was driving with @Srikumar. And I’ve had great drives, ridge riding with @Ale Vallecchi as his 2nd lead. IM drives with @Emmanueland more recently night drives with @Chaitanya D. all of which taught me something new. I was then given the opportunity to take my desert driving to the next level and join “Team Carnity’ and under the tutelage of @Gaurav with his infinite pool of knowledge the learning experience grew exponentially . If you think you know it all , trust me, you know nothing until you lead , Again I was taken from my comfort zone and the memory of coming up the back of Faya with @Frederic behind me and no one in front of me, when once more I was gripping the steering wheel and thinking OMG!! Is never far from my mind when driving. But t’s not just the driving, which I absolutely love. It’s the Carnity community, I love being out there with you all. I know we all have each other’s backs and we all try to have a good time on our adventures. So thanks to everyone I have ever driven with, who have helped me along the way and made me roar with laughter. Aside from @Craig Finlayson….he’s a bad un😎

Post Drive Report I am not sure there is a lot to add to the fantastic reports submitted already by @Shaaz Sha and @M.Seidam. You've pretty much said it all. Leading a night drive is completely different experience than the day, and making it sufficiently entertaining for an ALL LEVELS drive (which this became) is a challenge. That would have not been possible without the amazing support of @Islam Soliman and @M.Seidam , whi have managed every recovery and the limited number of stucks with calm authority and efficiency that I barely had to get out of my seat. I had planned the change in the convoy before the drive, and somehow did not upload it before leaving. The importance of a good second lead on a night drive is really critical. Having @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ there to re route or stop in time was wonderful, and while the same cannot be said of myself (!), he never put a wheel wrong. He was patient in the moments i needed to self recover - I think that @Gaurav Soni really enjoyed watching one of my self recoveries (while listening to the offers from others to come to my rescue) - and really made sure that he kept up with my at all times. To be the only newbie on this drive can not have been easy. @Fabiano Morais probably felt a bit guilty about having to recover more than most: but that's the point. Newbie is the time when you learn these skills and with the amazing level of experienced support on the drive, you handled things really well and by the end, were doing well about newbie level without assistance. It's a shame that the car started to tire earlier. It's been some time since @bony raphi had been seen on a drive, so welcome back. Once you get the rust out of the wrangler, I think that you'll be back to your old tricks and more. What else to remark? @Thomas Varghese risking life, limb and rainy weather conditions to perfectly recover @Shehab Alawadhi (who once again provided a ridge flattening service for those behind him). As we said, intermediate level s not just about being able to self recover your car, it's also about giving the assistance to others when needed. @Ehab and @Nithin Vaidirour fewbies handled all well and especially in the second section of the drive back into Last Exit - where we did increase the level a little because we could. All in all, a great journey. The last 400 meters - if nothing else, a great teamwork recover with @Islam Soliman for that which was really the theme of the evening. The team work was great. Because of the timing it seems everyone was chilling out the more we drove. And ... my bumper needed replacing anyhow! See you soon in the sand.

So many special things about this drive! Rain in the desert, every type of sky imaginable, stunning vista across all of Dubai, playing with the gazelles and the milestone drive to take @Foxtrot Oscar to Marshall! @Ale Vallecchi massive thanks (again) for putting together this trip with @Foxtrot Oscar and it delivered in every way! Though I realized I have a lot to learn with my DSLR as I went manual for the whole trip and messed up more time than I got it right! However, god bless the iPhone to ensure I came home with a few pics and vids that did the trip justice! @Desert Dweller I appreciate you letting me practice the CF role but being so close alongside with the added support anytime there was even a hint of a stuck! I watched you having so much fun at the back and I think you need to lead your own drive soon so the rest of us can enjoy the paths you create! Lots of fun through the dunes even for a photography drive! many new-newbies who all did great and I am eagerly waiting for the next newbie photography drive as that time I will absolutely bring my kids Was a pleasure to meet you all and offer support when needed! What many don’t know, is that Angela is the first friend I met here in the UAE, a work colleague that quickly became a very dear friend, showing me around and including me in every adventure she planned, and as you can guess, she plans a lot of those 😂 I still remember the first time she talked about trying this desert driving thing. She did do a couple of drives with other clubs initially, but I suggested Carnity as I liked their approach when I was looking for a car and used their forum to get reviews. once we both started driving with the club, it quickly became a hobby. However, Angela’s persistence, perseverance, sense of challenge and love of teaching led her to this deserved promotion. Thank you @Tamas Hoffmann for this drive ! Being in the front, I could see the challenges of taking a long convoy through this area of tricky bowls and soft sand patches. Thoroughly enjoyed this drive. Driving in the rain and quiet desert at just the right pace to snap photos was amazing and a great way to start the weekend! Having driven one newbie night drive I was bit hesitant for fewbie night drive, but I must admit it was double the fun and safety. How quick was the support response and leads never missed the opportunity to point out what went wrong and briefing how to handle the situation. Definitely one needs to get used to night driving, which I am determined to take more. Many experienced friends around gives the much needed confidence. Choice of terrain, pace of the drive was perfect with right amount of challenges, and loads of learning. Thanks to entire convoy. Looking forward for more drives.

Trip reports from today's morning drive First of all I'd like to thank all of you who attended my first lead in the desert Special thanks to @JeromeFJfor doing a fantastic job as 2nd lead @Brettefor being my marshal support and all the assistance on my first lead and @Hisham Masaadfor doing a great job as a sweep and thank you for your electric jack 😁 We had lots of happening on today's drive Refusals, stucks, few pop outs and a broken clutch at the end of drive but we managed to recover from most of them pretty quickly thanks to the team effort who participated @Nathan Evansyou did a great job with your Jimny @Sinolalso great job especially doing self recovery @luis manteconthank you for signing up last minute you were a bit unlucky on today's drive but you learnt now how to handle pop outs and also that you can drive out from the desert even with using only 2nd gear so we'll done for that @Chris Wing @danebowers @Thomas Fumarolaall 3 of you did this drive with ease and well done for that @Humayun Ghiasyou learn today about recoveries and hopefully you'll be able to use the knowledge in the future otherwise good job navigating with that big beast through the desert @Rawad Bahsasgood job with your Patrol Today's drive statistics We drove a total 45.53 km in 4 h 41 min which includes the recovery of the jeep which isn't bad considering the terrain we drove on Thank you so much one more time for all of you to join on my first lead and hope to see you on another drive

Having you all together in one Convoy makes a strong team, your extreme support made us feel safe and good. As a part of learning with fun….few refusal was cleared by very good self-recovery and stuck/pop-out was take care by our marshal, SL, CF, SW. Thanks to entire convoy for your patience during refusal/stuck/pop-out. (InshaAllah) See you in next drive.

@Niki thanks so much for your kind message! It was really nice to meet you as well. Your comment on the radio about the rocket lens I was using made me and my friend laugh 😂. I have already joined this lens lovers group; photography was one of the reasons I wanted to join the off-road club (as well as to meet new friends and learn to enjoy the desert in a safe way). Like others in this thread, I started photography back in film days but got away from it shortly after life got in the way. I came back to photography about 7 years ago and it's become my number one passion. I enjoy shooting just about anything, though my preferences are wildlife (including insects and birds (Indian rollers are my favourite)) and astro 😍🤩. I am a Canon gal and use two cameras. My primary, ride-or-die partner is a 5DM4, and I also have an 80D that I use now and again. I use a number of different lenses depending on what I'm shooting, but my go-to ones are usually a Tokina 11-16mm for astro (which is not for a full frame camera but still works great at 14mm), a Canon 100mm macro, a Canon L-series 24-105mm workhorse and the rocket you saw yesterday 😂 a Sigma 150-600mm Sports. I also have a DJI Mavic Mini that I want to use more. I've only made one video with it so far - mostly because I haven't had much time to shoot and edit. It's so great to meet everyone and see so many happy photographers! I hope I'll get to meet more of you in the coming months. I'm happy to be a part of any drive, particularly any that have photography as a "focus" 😉. I'm including here a few of my recent favourite images (not too many, I hope!) and this is the link to the video I made with my drone in December, if you'd like to see it 😊. The images don't look great here because I made a collage and took a screen shot, but you can see them more clearly on Instagram if you want 😂. Thanks again @Niki - see you soon! My first desert night drive What an amazing “desert night drive” , it never felt like my first one. Starting from the mosque of murqab ending to my favourite end point in Last exit was a real treat for me and my little copilot along ☺️ The combination of IM and FB has turned this drive officially to a fewbie level drive , as our lead said, which added to the “ night spice “ and in a time the drizzling rain reflected gave the impression as if we were chasing the sky stars ! we faced few refusals Nicely self recovered and two crests both called for our ropes and yet one pop out which was managed in no time. And just before our exit one stuck in a tight pocket that was brilliantly and smoothly managed. in between we drove and sloped , we paused to enjoy the silence ( COVID precautions preserved ) and drove in and out as one team one convoy one spirit in the dark which was split by our bright lights! my son eventually slept just before the end and on his behalf I said thank you for all of you from lead to sweep for this amazing treat under the cloudy sky in the middle of night. Thank you Richard @Wrangeld for another brilliant lead and definitely the night drive is one of them🙏 @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ for your true second lead and re rout when in need. I had the pleasure of being part of @Foxtrot OscarAngela’s Newbie drive and hence Marshal promotion 🥳. It was totally worth waking up at 4:30 am, although the very big Jeepers convoy at the gas station made me late despite the early start... It was a delightful drive, starting with rain and ending with some wildlife, giving us all the opportunity to take some cool pictures and videos. Being the sweep allowed me to watch all drivers and also take pictures of everyone (check the drive’s gallery). Thanks everyone for the relaxed drive and hope to see you guys and ladies soon!
