I was about to post my own drive report but @JeromeFJhas provided such a concise and detailed report that I think we should leave it there. @Vasja Zupan@Ameera AlMarzooqi @CEdric Rodrigues @Paul OR @Krishna R @shailendra singh vilkhu @Sam H Thank you all for arriving to the meeting point so promptly. This drive was all about the basics, I chose a route that gave you a flavour of just about everything you will meet whilst desert driving.(to varying degrees) We had tight technical dunes which required good control and finesse. I’m amazed none of you got too stuck in there! Well done. We crossed (up and over) fair sized ridges that demonstrated to you how much momentum you need to get up and over a dune. There were some steep drops which showed the need to cover your brake, and keep your wheels straight when you descend. Finally, we had the wide-open spaces of the long-range dunes that allowed you climb and turn , creating nice sweeping horseshoes as we did. I think this is the first time at this level I haven’t seen someone side stuck. Great Job. We did have some stucks, and we embraced every single one of them. I mean it when I say that you will learn more by getting yourself unstuck than anything else. Self recovery is an artform , and it is truly wonderful to see. Many many thanks to @JeromeFJfor his excellent support and to @soumyasaklanifor being the perfect second lead.

Thanks @Shaaz Sha for a truly wonderful drive. The surprise play area at the end was cherry on the top. Never knew Qudra has such nice spots to offer, even the mid section of long range dunes were great fun to drive. @Tom B thanks a lot for keeping an eye at the back and helping in keeping the flock together. @ASAD. & @Vinod Damodaran pop outs happen all the time and it is part of game, we fix it and move ahead that's all. We had a couple of pop outs just the previous morning, one with my car so there's nothing to be troubled about. @hugo, @Andrew McCarthy, @Issaa, @Joseph Raju @Reggie Landicho and @Michel Van Woudenberg it was great driving with you guys and you drove nicely and had good control over your cars. See you all soon in the desert discovering even more nice playgrounds.

Many thanks Angela @Foxtrot Oscar for the drive yesterday morning. It was a beautiful and smooth introduction to the desert driving, and we have all enjoyed a lot ! Even if we crossed the way of some other convoys, you took us through empty spaces of the Qudra area, and we could enjoy empty dunes, beautiful desert landscape, and cross some gazelles and a lonely oryx who was marking his territory. Of course the main purpose was to drive and to explore the capacity of the cars and the drivers. The progression from the shabka to the first dunes, and to the first slopes were perfect to get the first feeling of the movements of the cars, that weird feeling of driving sideways on an incline, or being nose up, with only the sky in sight, and nose down, carefully holding the brakes to avoid touching touching the bumper on the ground. After the brake, as the team was really doing well, and the sand conditions were excellent, Angela has increased the pace of the drive and we could really enjoy riding those dunes. In some occasions, it was more difficult at the back of the convoy as the track were a bit churned by the first cars, and we had to use more momentum to pass through the softer sand. The group did very well, a few stucks and refusals where the first opportunities to see that with some guidance, and making use of the features of the cars (4 Low, diff-lock...) it is possible to self-recover from many situations. The Prado of @Vasja Zupan got stuck on a crest, and this required a bit more effort to shovel the sand below the car. The situation was a bit more precarious with a deep pocket of soft sand on the side, and a dead tree just below. An excellent team work allowed to extract the car from the difficult situation. In the last minutes of the drive, @Waqar Ahmed Khan got crested in a similar situation (without the tree). To save time I decided to use the rope and give the car a small tug form the rear. Just to remember that it is important for each car to have proper recovery hooks at the front and at the back. @soumyasaklani, thank you for the excellent support as 2nd lead, welcome back in the sand ! @Vasja Zupan, very well done, including the efforts in the self-recoveries, good control of the Prado @Paul OR, nice drive, no issue at all taking the Pajero to the dunes. And careful listening to the support instruction when you were in a difficult situation. Keep enjoying ! @Krishna R, well done also, your car is a bit heavy, you will realize that you need more momentum in some situations to pass the obstacles @shailendra singh vilkhu, good job with the Montero. You were in sync with your car and attentive to the support instructions. Continue the same @Ameera AlMarzooqi, excellent control of the LC100, with a good combination of momentum/ trajectory to pass through some difficult configurations. Check the operation of your gear box, as I have the impression that you were in 2H sometimes, and not 4H @Waqar Ahmed Khan, the heavy Patrol requires more power to pass through the obstacles. Use it with moderation, and don't hesitate on the top of the crests, and you will see an improvement. Also listen carefully to the support instructions during recoveries, it will help you to get out safely. @CEdric Rodrigues, good job taking the Patrol out in the sands. You will see that the car has largely enough power to compensate its weight. You will enjoy a lot discovering the capacities of the car ! @Sam H, very well done with the Safari. DRIVE REPORT We set off early morning on the sandy area across 2nd December Cafeteria, which is usually a busy place, but apparently at 7AM most offroaders, except the Carnity dudes, are still in bed The plan was to start with some technical dunes in Suwaydan area, which is a bit of a scenic area with lots of vegetation, camels, and nowadays even bulldozers. Some of the bulldozer tracks allowed us to do some nice climbs so we made the best of it. With the whole convoy moving swiftly, before we knew it we were reaching the road, and crossed it to make our way to Faya. A dune which needs no introduction anymore. We found it completely abandoned hence climbed one by one up via the side. Everyone made it to the to the top, some with a few more attempts but that gave us a great opportunity to practice and see how traction control, center diff lock, lower tyre pressure, and upshifting can have a great impact on making to the top or not. From there we took the swooping bowls all the way via Camel Rock, The Sphinx, and exited at the pylon track and made our way back towards Mahafiz Mosque. All in all a great morning with great people ! @Joseph Sebastian as my perfect second lead, keeping a close watch on my tracks and improving them where needed. @Serhat Yalcinkaya you improve every drive. But for complete ease of mind i would recommend removing the front lip. Our marshal @Brette went through the same in his earlier days and is now offroading with full peace of mind. @Udit S don't dismiss that little Prado too soon. It's capable of wonderful things. @Antony Abraham this time incident free well driven !! @Mahmoud Taha i love your Xterra and the way you handle it ! @Vishal Nair you handle the big Pajero perfectly, really impressed with your driving skills ! @Kishore Venkat and @Yesu Yarlagadda both taking the powerful mighty Patrols in the sand. Nicely done guys ! @Beide Worku Controlling that big beast is not easy but you master it wonderfully ! @Joao at the back digesting the churned up tracks with ease. Great drive !! The drive was really amazing and really enjoyed it. Thank you @Shaaz Shafor guiding us in this wonderful drive. @ASAD. your tire pop out helps us to understand how to do the puncture repair during the drives. It was really helpful. For me this drive is a lesson how to control the vehicle on ridge driving. Everyone perform very well. We only have few stuck and refusals. Thank you @Looper for your support throughout the drive and @Tom B for the marvelous sweep. @Vinod Damodaran really happy to hear that your tire is Ok. Sometimes like this will happen during drives, I already faced a similar situation before and had to leave the convoy. The support of Carnity members are superb.

Just to give an alert to everyone while driving during the foggy condition, we tend to reduce the speed based on the visibility. BUT If you are driving in Abu Dhabi and receive a text SMS on mobile saying - Speed limit 80 kmh. It's not a request for you to exercise caution, but radars are re-adjusted at 140 km/h road to issue fines at 80 km/h. We (a few of Quaa drivers, last week) thought it was a caution message and kept driving from 60-100 km/h speed during foggy patches and received a fine of 300 Dhs, with a 35% discount to 195 Dhs each.

And that is exactly the reason why i started offroading. To venture much deeper and find the quiet spots where there are no Pa-Pa-Pa-Pa-Pa-Pa Patrols in sight

Dear friends @Gok Krish @Davie Chase @Daniel Rodas @Daniel Yang @Naim Aoun @Fabien Monleau @James Thorn @Lucky sAm @Naim Aoun When i sow the last vehicle arriving i looked at my watch and it was still not yet 13:50 . truly appreciate the punctuality in time thank you guys. all was briefed ready steady and set up to the challenge and it was indeed. we took the dirt track parallel with the camel track heading south, half of the way obliterated by sand now. which made me to miss my sweet point of entry to the technical patch realizing it soon and in no time by the time i was half way crossing this technical stripe the sweep just announced that every one has entered the desert. this initial warm up made me to stick to plan A Loop . after we reached the long range dunes at Murqab, just north to baja root , two rounds over the ridges we passed by ( real soft sand ) sparing the time for the most demanding part of this trip the technical dunes which at some areas were inevitably super tight and here i must admit and shout Bravo to everyone who did incredibly great ( gentle on gas/break , and fine control at crossing utilizing the baby to big boy bowls in and out to push it enough and no more so it kept the rhythm fluid like a gentle stream ) . special salute to the big heavy guys in the back of the convoy , and when ever i was asking about the status the same answer came all good all enjoying. Sure without spice the meal would not taste proper. the best flavor of the day was of my favorite Tripod oblique crest at the back were i had to have a look at , hands of the team grabbed the shovel and with some calm instructions the vehicle moved and slid like an ice cream melting over the cone . maybe couple refusals everyone including myself had his share to complete by it the flavor of this part of the drive. the nice time passes quick till we realized that the sun is about to touch the tip of the dunes what a paint , fascinating, the last bit of the plan was not possible as the darkness is even quicker coming so along the way back on the dirt track i thanked this lovely team that i had the honor to drive with and everyone who came to share this passion. till we meet once more i wish you great week ahead . cheers Seidam

It was a great fun drive thanks to @Chaitanya D, the pace was relaxed and the breaks were perfect both in timing as well as in area. @Jessica Lambert, you were a good 2nd lead, you drove very well. So it's true then - that everything looks upside down in Australia, I used to think it is just the memes 😁😆. @munkybizness, @Srikumar for the helping hand in the recoveries, which were few and quite easy ones.

Good morning, since my son Abdelghani is starting soon joining drives by him self, and I always keep at least one extra radio with me, wanted to buy one from Amazon yesterday night, but didn’t find. Looks the best option is the dragon mart. the model is Crony MT-777

I know I’m just a newbie, but this has been my favourite drive yet. It was lovely to get the chance to socialise a little, this club prides itself on its camaraderie and it shows. I really appreciate all the support and patience from absolutely everyone. Thank you all, looking forward to seeing you again (properly with some daylight maybe!)

Hello Every one, I am so sorry for the trouble due to my car tire issue. my apologies to all 🙏.😥 Very very grateful to Shaaz, Looper , Reggie and so many of you for excellent support.❤️ It was hard work, thank you all again. I drove straight to Qudra petrol station and then checked the pressure, surprisingly the pressure was 44psi on the popped out tire. I deflated down to 34psi. probably the leak was due to sand stuck on some area of the rim which got set in motion. However due to early exit, went to ACE and picked up some recovery stuff to be quick 💪 in case it happens again ( hope never again ). Got an Air Jack ( Bushranger balloon type ), ARB Compressor, a Long arm Shovel and few other essential stuff.. And Yea Tom, sure I will be with the Jeep next time, and destroy the way for Reggie with my zig zag driving... 😝. See you all soon , Cheers !

Hello off roaders. Thank you all for signing up and being on time. It was a WOW!! drive once again with every one of you and enjoyed it. We were all set to hit the sand and by 7.10, we began the drive. It was a sluggish start as after few minutes of the drive we had a pop out in @ASAD. vehicle . It was done quickly.. but after inflating the tyre ,, found that there was a puncture and the air was leaking . Thanks to @Looper as he landed up with the tire repair kit and some how with multiple ideas, we fixed the issue . We were fortunate today that we didn't come across many cross tracks. It was nice to attempt few side slopes and ridge riding and every one of you did it great. After the initial pop put and fixing it...It was then a smooth drive with out much of issues. It was good to meet another carnity convoy under @Foxtrot Oscar and @JeromeFJ on our way. In approximately an hour after the break, we had to deal with second pop out of the day with @Vinod Damodaran car and this time it really took some time to fix the issue and i appreciate your patience.. thank you guys. But even after fixing the pop out it continued to lose the air prompting @Vinod Damodaran to exit the drive. After exiting him to the tarmac we continued the drive. On our way to the play area and exit, ..we had to face a few refusals and re attempts.. BUT it was superb to end the drive with a blast.. Thanks to @Looper for the support and helps in recoveries . It was nice to use and practice your tire repair kit.😜. thank you bro for your help in fixing the pop outs. Thank you @hugo for the second lead. You did really well except for not following the tracks a couple of times. Thank you @Tom B for being an Excellent Sweep. You did an amazing job today buddy. @Andrew McCarthy. did a good job with your Pajero buddy. It was nice to see you confidently negotiating the dunes and ridges and did a good job stopping your vehicle when you lost the track.👍. @Issaa..xterra !! we share the same spirit bro. you were amazing today with the X and was nice to see you performing effortlessly. It takes a certain amount of bravado (or blindness as @Srikumar puts it) to take on a night drive. With the reduced visibility comes increased uncertainty on what comes next. But seeing how the convoy snaked through Qudra last night, one would mistake you all to have driven many times over, offroad in the dark. Any trepidation that each of you were feeling was certainly not visible. With very few refusals, every single driver last night should feel absolutely chuffed with themselves. In the few refusals we did see, it was the lack of momentum which is usually exaggerated during night drives due to the fear of not having any orientation on what's beyond. It is completely normal, and something you'll just get better with over time through abandon Firstly, thank you Doc @Chaitanya D (a doctor both for the sands and the hands) for a smooth rolling track. Your eye (or blindness) for finding the gems in the dark are exceptional. I hope the convoy here someday get to see you lead us through Lisailli in the dark to send our adrenaline even higher off the charts. With plenty of little breaks and chit chats (ones we missed at the height of restrictions through last year), you gave the convoy the opportunity to mingle too. I met so many new faces last night. @Srikumar, it was a pleasant surprise to have you join the convoy and get over that itch. You (and a certain someone who still wants to remain a mystery) added such great humour and banter to our comms. I particularly liked seeing your Jeep show up like a shepherd giving the back-end of the convoy a beacon on where not to stray. My radio was given a stern talking to after I came home for failing to hear you. It has been grounded until the next weekend. I absolutely love your brand @Looper, and how you're geeking out over this. That sweatshirt also looked super comfy. I can't wait to see you lead your brand of looping drives in the near future. To everybody else in the convoy (including that one radio giving us a live feed of your cold air gurgles), it was a pleasure to drive with all of you. At the back, we were happy with how little churn you were throwing up for us. @Rob S, you drove really well and as you've seen, you don't need a ton of lights but instead shades if you get put in @Sanjay Malik's position. @Roger K - I loved seeing your Cabela's tee. It brought back a flood of memories from driving south from Ann Arbor on 23 to my fix of adrenaline at Cedar Point. And finally, a special shout out to @Jessica Lambert for playing an excellent SL, on a night drive nonetheless. With barely any rerouting, you set an excellent pace and rhythm for the remainder of the convoy. I look forward to seeing all of you, out on the sands soon 🐵

Alway love this area. @KailasNice driving with you again and appreciate your involvement in the lead team. @varunmehndirattaGreat seeing you after so long again that and that too in a leading team. The rest of the team was a nice chilled afternoon and a double tire challenge made it interesting and gave us an opportunity to chat and make some new friends. That drive out of the lake was an experience and made me realise how much people DO NOT LIKE their houses in the winter months of UAE. Ciao and till next time.

Evening all, just wanted to say what an amazing amazing drive. I'm not just saying this but it was one of the best carnity drives I've been on and lucky enough to sweep on. Absolutely bloody brilliant!!!!!!! Thank you Hisham and team. The pure skill shown by all was proven by the minimal stop times. Can't wait for the next drive! @Shaaz Sha thanks for an excellent drive this morning and entrusting me with the sweep position. Your drives never fail to deliver. Apart from the stops to repair the pop outs, it felt like we covered a lot of ground and kept a fairly decent pace up. Certainly helped by the fact that there we so few refusals/stucks today. I guess that shows we are all improving! The bowl at the end was definitely worth extending the drive for. @Looper thanks for your support. I enjoyed watching you do the side sloping and seeing how it should be done. @Vinod Damodaranhope you got back home without too much bother. Bet you can't wait to get back into the Jeep! @Michel Van Woudenberg enjoyed following in your tracks. Your new LC has some serious power.
