  1. Sorry to hear about you both @Ale Vallecchi & @Hisham Masaad. Having been one of the early ones to catch it last week, I was in a very similar scenario when I had to miss out on the Yellow Truck drive. It’s certainly going around. Get well soon, gents! @MikeSpillane, our structures are designed for the safety of drivers and to ensure that the entire convoy feels assured that they are at the same level when out in the dunes. Having driven open-level drives with other clubs especially in places like Sharjah, I’ve witnessed first hand the lack of care for driver or machine. While this may feel restrictive at Carnity, it ensures that more times than none, we enter and leave the desert with our egos deflated and our machines intact. We find ourselves in a very rare scenario where two marshals are both ill. If you look back at our drive roster, this rarely ever happens. And I’m certain that this decision was only taken after seeking every recourse possible.

  2. Dear @MikeSpillane. The grading structure (I assume you refer to Newbie / Fewbie, etc.) is the same (barred some different nomenclature) than any other club. It serves the purpose of matching similarly skilled drivers in drives and itineraries that are designed to accommodate their skills set. It would be unsafe to post open drives, where Newbies would find it impossible to follow Intermediates. Regarding this drive, it has been cancelled due to illness, first of Hisham, and this morning of myself. Although unforeseeable, it has happened. Certainly, this is an exceptional circumstance, but perhaps you can see the goodwill on Carnity's part to find a substitute leader (in this case it was me) to confirm the drive after Hisham fell ill. Once again, it is certainly a unique circumstance, when 2 leaders fall ill at the same time. Neither Hisham nor I are enjoying this. Having said this, there will be, as there have always been, plenty of Newbie drives in the weeks to come, usually a couple each weekend, which you may surely join, without any issues.

  3. Hi @MikeSpillane i disagree that the grading structure is something to "lock" people in. It is meant for your own safety and to make sure that everyone enjoys a safe offroading progress in Carnity. I do agree that we could have used an extra Newbie level drive for this weekend. The season has really kicked off now. Unfortunately, the flu season also kicked in, and this situation where both marshals fall ill is rare but has happened today. We still have a great offroading season ahead with many plans and great drives that are coming. Let's wish @Hisham Masaadand @Ale Vallecchi both the best and a speedy recovery and not vent negative frustrations on unavoidable events.

  7. Dear Mike Be assured that Safety is always the concern of this club more than anything else and for this reason the grading ladder was made . cancellation is rare as you see and it would be out the leaders control. probably this drive is not meant to be today just to have a bright one tomorrow . lets wish @Ale Vallecchi and @Hisham Masaad best health and get well soon. Thanks for understanding .

  11. Please find your convoy numbering below. We will use radio Channel 1. Due to the place where we are meeting, we might not able to gather all cars together, so deflate and switch on the radios and we will move without the briefing from the supermarket area. Once we enter the sand patch, then we will stop over for a briefing. @Frederic @Simon D @ASAD. @Rob S @Waqas Parvez @Dodi Syahdar @Varun Mehndiratta @Lawrence_Chehimi @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler @Davie Chase @Pacific @Looper Gaurav Frederic Simon D ASAD. 19. FINALLY @JeromeFJ @Haitham Khattab @Sunil Mathew @Rob S @Tom B @Santoso Marjuki @Gok Krish @Mario Cornejo Thank you for making this day a memorable one for me. I started driving at 03 45 and stopped driving at 23 45 - sure this drive did take a toll on my body. However, the excitement and adrenaline rush of driving in Liwa was too tempting; last year I was not experienced enough to take on this challenge. Our Lead @JeromeFJ - difficult to put into words how you have lead us through this super soft terrain - you were taking all the risks while we were patiently following your tracks. @Haitham Khattab challenging start to the morning to get the seat belt etc sorted out - I was happy to see Ibrahim enjoying this drive - I am sure he had lots to tell his friends at school. @Sunil Mathew you master the Fortuner like a pro mate! @Rob S well what will we do without our anchor point? you were always the first one to jump out of the car to go (and run) to help Jerome (as he was the only one that got stuck...) @Tom B amazing drive mate - love to hear the exhaust popping on this V8 @Santoso Marjuki i dont know what you did to your Jeep - it is simply a beast - i was fortunate to drive behind you. @Mario Cornejo the SWB Y61 is simply impressive - your skills could not be matched during the drive @Gok Krish sad that you had to leave us early - but was happy to catch up again at the camp site after the drive to watch football. Looking forward to see you in the sand in your old/new toy I was quite fortunate to be able to meet with @Gaurav Soni @Srikumar @Frederic and the other members to enjoy a bit of football after the drive prior to hitting the road again to Dubai. Until next time, enjoy your upcoming weekend. Cheers
