Dear Desert Drivers, Thank you for signing-up for this FB+ drive on Saturday. This area South of Nahel offers beautiful dunes, generally empty. Sharp ridges, deep bowls, high climbs, it has everything, and beautiful views in addition. Some faces are steep, and it can be quite impressive in some occasions. Be sure you come fully awake, with a car in top condition. Current confirmed attendance @Stumpy Paj @Amr Aydin @Gurcharan Mehta @KAMALIO @Gary F @Krishna R @Tharun Kumar V @Zed @Pascal @Ale Vallecchi Wait List @Benjamin (1) @Abdul Basit Khan (2) @Deepak Eswar, this is a Fewbie Plus drive, and you current level is FB, I'm sorry, but you cannot attend or be on the waitlist. @Paolo Pellegrini, your registered level is FB+, but you have not yet driven at this level with @Carnity, and your last drive with us was 5 months ago. I will ask you to do at least one FB drive, before attending FB+. This is to ensure you can enjoy and remain comfortable with the drive level. The grading structure has been recently updated accordingly. https://carnity.com/forums/topic/16479-off-road-club-grading-structure-v30/#comment-125525 Thank you for your understanding4 points

Once you have the full premium version, then the World Imagery ESRI comes built in. My original post here with the custom map “hack” allowed for adding ESRI or Google imagery to the light version of Gaia. That’s perhaps the reason you still have both. Same here The subscription models have changed in the meantime and I think on the free models you won’t be able to get any sattelite imagery (not sure). High res vs Low Res depends on a couple of factors. Every once in a while they update their maps but if during that time if the imagery is not totally clear due to weather circumstances or other issues you’ll have less detail. I remember @M.Seidam brought this up at one point as his sattelite map suddenly showed a big vague area in his fav area of Qudra where in the past it was crystal clear and detailed. A big advantage of Gaia is the layering, so you can easily swap between maps with the slider to show or reveal another map.4 points

Dear Sand Sailors Thanks for RSVPing for the drive. Have been travelling so couldn’t msg earlier. We have a solid convoy for the upcoming weekend and I am eagerly looking for a super drive to get over with this busy routine - as well kick start a much awaited weekend. Will be finalizing the starting points (challenge of plenty in this area) and other details by Friday morning. Till then have a nice week ahead. @Ranjan Das will miss you, safe travels and hope to catch up with you sometime soon. @Jessica Lambert @Anoop K. To join Fred and make it to the NB convoy, @Zed please don't get stuck on every dune.2 points

Mabrook @Imteeaz bro, looking forward to our next drive in same convoy. I might purposely get myself stuck so you can practice your Support skillz 😅2 points

Hi @Frederic added myself to WaitList. Torn between choosing this or go for @Srikumar's Newbie Sweihan just to meet him and pick up my walkie-talkie 😅 , but the promise of high-paced drive from Solar Park to Sweihan maybe better to test my new Cherokee V8. I'm also guessing this high-paced drive will have less chance of shovelling too 🙏 cos I'll be fasting 😊2 points

same... my pump had to be replaced as soon as i started driving offroad 😆😭, plus now there is this shaking am experiencing and the guy says we now need to change cylinders? my last service and I got quoted 9k of repairs.. but it could also be because the only parts of the car I knew till that service were tires, steering wheel and where the oil and water for wipers go and I still dont remember what they called 🙊2 points

Thanks for the drive @Frederic - enjoyed it Also learned that momentum is important and that the FJ can downshift! - Key take-away is that I need to improve on how to build momentum quicker in the FJ. More practice is needed.1 point

Congratulations and supremely well done @Imteeaz. Always love your attitude and focus on the right things. It doesn’t hurt that you also have the right car 😉1 point

I would strongly advise you to 1. Run in/Break in the new car ( at least 500km+) more info on the forums https://www.fjcruiserforums.com/threads/engine-break-in-for-the-fjc-v6.100127/. Many advises there from experienced members driving a FJ 2. Acquaint yourself with the gearing (after point 1) , how to engage 4H and 4L and ride it. Each car responds differently , and even with experienced driver like you or anyone - a new car needs some time to get used to. So take it easy 3. Once you are done with 1 and 2, take it for a spin on sands - preferably during day light as visibility is better. I hope you get my advise sportively and not to discourage you to join. You are always a great driver and a friend to ride with .1 point
