  1. The One Where the Reputation was Under Threat @Rahimdad has a reputation for leading Newbie drives which are exciting and challenging and where there are no Stucks. This morning's drive stressed out that reputation beyond recognition ... but let'sget to that later. Everyone had deflated and put up their flags by the time our fearless leader arrived. This meant that with the briefing delivered, we were under way in record time. There was quite a large convoy today, and it was great to have @Vanessa8580 in 2nd lead, @Brette in centre forward position and @Jeepie sweeping up at the rear. As usual, the pace was great, the route interesting and enough challenges for everyone. We even had a wonderful breeze blowing so that sitting in the car with the windows open (yes guys, that is an option) was warm but not oppressive. I thought we were in for a relaxing, problem free day ... For about another ten minutes, until we had our first refusals. Thankfully, we were able to help with instructed self recoveries and I commend everyone for retaining their cool when things did not go as planned. The first major stuck of the day saw @Mehmet Volga recovered by @Brette for him to find himself stuck and in need of a quick tug. I think I ought to say here that for what ever reason it was not @Brette's day. It seems that on more than one occasion he did his job as centre forward perfectly, only to find himself refusing or stuck once the recovery was over. It turns out the mighty beast was suffering a transmission oil leak as well, which probably has some impact. It took almost 1 hour 40 to get to the base of Pink Rock because of the number of problems. BEFORE COVID on the same basic route plan we had arrived here within an hour. The sand can be a very changeable thing. @Yousef Alimadadi found he needs to train his Pajero better as it was initially difficult to climb Pink Rock. After a few attempts, he was up and over and the r est of the convoy climbed the hill without incident. The route to 2nd December cafe from there is a challenge for Newbies at the best of time. With the extremely soft sand today we faced a lot of Stucks and refusals. @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ needed a quick tug, @George Francis had a moment and @Brette needed recovering again. All thos took time so we really had no moment for play before we ended up on a track again and out to reinflate. There were some drivers really deserving of an 'honorable' mention, navigating their way round with aplomb. @Gregory Perkin excellent drive, and contributions to the seniors to advise on the situation as well as helping out other drivers, @Chaitanya D looks like you are getting to grips with the Xterra (we will see a bit more in the Fewbie drive ...) @Magellan you really have the FJ well under control. @Denizzalbayrak @Anish S the fact we did not hear anythjjng from you speaks volumes. Most improved driver of the day goes to @VipinShetty. Following your feet finding drive last week, you handled today's challenges really well and get extra credit for having no hesitation to ask @Rahimdad to help on a t echnical section where you felt unsure. Brilliant. As we are always told by the seniors, there is no shame in getting stuck or asking for help. We exited by 10.30 as planned, having all had another enjoyable morning, and I think it would be appreciated, if nothing else to retain the reputation of the superman that led us fantastically today if noone says anything about the stucks. See you soon in the sand

  2. Wonderful drive superman @Rahimdad. Thank you @Brette, @Vanessa8580 and @Wrangeld for guiding and helping everyone. Super exciting to drive a bit carefree now without worrying I will hit something or break something...but getting used to it a bit better. Some pictures uploaded in the gallery.

  3. It’s good to be back on @Rahimdad’s convoy after a long time. He can make newbie drives quite challenging and fun at the same time with his sence of humour. And again thanks to seniours @Wrangeld, @Jeepie and @Brette for taking care of rest of the convoy. I hope problems of Grand Cherokee can be sorted quickly. I may say 2nd part of the trip was a newbie plus level. Who ever liked this part as newbie, wait for what is to come on fewbie and above levels😊 After experiencing heating problems 2 months ago, my eyes were at the heat gauge literally every 3 min. Thankfully, It didn’t even reach to 100 degrees even with long idling times. I hope everybody enjoyed and had fun! See you guys next week.

  4. @Rahimdad leading drives are always full of fun, becomes easier and enjoyable to everyone with excellent guiding and help by @Vanessa8580 @Brette @Wrangeld. Thank you to you all! @Brette 's first stuck was because of me rather than his bad luck maybe. I tried "not to fly" this time and pushed it less but that part was definitely needing more momentum indeed. The rest of the trip was good to me because I was driving behind @Gregory Perkin this time! He was excellent in all and I always followed his track and copied his movements - made it all problem-free! So impressed with @Yousef Alimadadi's self-recoveries with rear-lock shows! At the slope, I thought it was a huge "stuck" and no way to take off even with shoveling - absolutely be towed! It was amazing to learn many tricks of such self-recoveries! See you next week!

  6. Drive Report I was glad to see so many cars lining up at the Qudra deflation point. After spotting a few vehicles that I didn’t recognize, and seeing some flags popping up, I realized these were UAE Offroader guys. We gave them a friendly wave and moved on with our convoy that was equipped with a majority of Fewbies, and only one Absolute Newbie. This drive went so well, that we managed to do more than 40kms in less than 3 hours, which is a testament to the skills my convoy had and how well they managed the very few refusals and mini-stucks. Of course, having a second lead like @asifk helps. His ability to slightly alter the track and overall driving style has again impressed me so much. A big thanks for that ! His friend @AviG joined us for the first time and drove very well. You were probably afraid of getting crested and as a result sometimes came over the dune a little too fast, which resulted in the front bumper getting unclipped. Rest assured that the more drives you do with us, the more you’ll find that finesse of pointing the car over a dune with ex actly enough momentum. I hope your lovely daughter is feeling better by now and we will see you all coming back soon. Talking about pointing, our friend @syed salman raza pointed his TJ perfectly over every dune and drove very well ! @Tbone was my center forward and did a great job in communicating and helping out over the radio with members having a refusal. @Janarthan is also finding his way in the Xterra, and drove very good ! The Wranglers did what they usually do, (no, not overheating). @Nacho, @Rajeevan Vickneswaran @Matti Brockman all drove like it was just another drive on the E11. Stunning job guys ! @Jose Martin with the shorty Pajero is a pleasure to see, always calm and composed, always having fun. Time for your Fewbie challenges my friend, you’re totally ready for it. @Mels Wolf must have had time for a cup of tea and Dutch biscuits today. He was flying sweep but didn’t have to fly much. Nevertheless perfectly communicated and always a sharp eye on the convoy makes a sweep even better. Thanks for the support ! Lady Qudra was gentle on us today so we were able to ride some mini ridges, do some sidey’s and still even had time to spot some nice gazelles. Lady Qudra never disappoints and we shall be back again ! IMG_7942.MP4

  8. The thrill & excitement starts every Sunday from 1830hrs to grab a spot in the high demand drives from Carnity & ends with the drive on Friday every week (to be refreshed again on Sunday). The drive was excellent tks to lead from @Rahimdad & equally supportive Seniors @Wrangeld @Brette @Jeepie @Vanessa8580...... just been my 4th drive with the club & every drive is a new learning in itself with refusals, self recovery. .....See you guys for the next drive.

  10. Thanks @Gaurav, @Wrangeld, @Jeepie and @Ale Vallecchi for the all the support during the stucks and refusals. I did learn and take back with me a few pointers that day. Thanks everyone else on the drive for being patient ... hope my stucks didnt take a toll on your experience. i did join a few offroad clubs but never went on a drive with them... from the beginning i didnt feel commitment to people and vehicle safety like i felt with carnity. Going by the advise i recieved right from the starting point to those during stucks and varying levels of tugs my car recieved keeping in mind safety; it reaffirmed my decision to drive and learn from the carnity team as this team really walks the talk. It was a lot of fun and looking forward to many more drives. Cheers!

  14. As we have been respecting authorities guidance & Carnity COVID guidelines to resume desert drives with caution by keeping social distance and wearing mask at all times outside the vehicle Unfortunately few off-roaders have difficulty in understanding and abiding these guidelines. As published in the national newspaper of UAE, everyone need to understand that still there are no gatherings allowed and authorities are issuing fine for 10,000 AED for host and 5,000 AED for attendees. https://gulfnews.com/uae/health/people-caught-violating-covid-19-safety-instructions-prosecuted-1.1591381059748 If you spot anyone stepping out of the car not wearing a mask, please remind them on the radio immediately. As we all are in this together, so we all have to help each other to remind. Failing to abide below list of restriction will result in an immediate ban from Carnity Off-road Club: FIRST WARNING Minimum 1 month ban from joining any Carnity off-road Club drives. Written warning will be issued on your Carnity profile. SECOND WARNING Minimum 6 month ban from joining any Carnity off-road Club drives. Written warning will be issued on your Carnity profile. If you do not like these restrictions, please stay at home and do not join for any off-road drives. Every Carnity Off-road Club Member has to COMPLY WITH THESE COVID19 GUIDELINES FACE MASK IS MANDATORY, WHENEVER YOU STEP OUT - NO EXCUSES. LEARN TO CONFIGURE YOUR RADIO, before the drive. Nobody will teach you or exchange radios like before. Read the detailed instructions posted here - to configure. If you still cannot configure, ask on forum ahead of time. Click "TOTALLY AGREE" Emoji here before RSVP any drive or else trip lead will remove your name.

  15. Last year after seeing this digitized protection film, now this digital car paint seems possible to light up the whole car paint with electricity as we want, be it for reflective purposes or complete change on demand or animation with the car paint/panels. Really damn creative work. Im not sure how this digital car paint can get legal approval as many authorities record car color as key identifier. This digital car paint technology looks really very promising for endless applications and use for transportation industry from emergency vehicles to guiding vehicles etc.

  16. Welcome to the COVID 19 "new normal" lifestyle with restrictions and precautions for everyone safety. Moving forward and respecting authorities guidance all desert drives will be done under strict control. No Gathering | No Briefing | No BBQ | No Eating Together | No Touching | No Hugging MUST READ: Not following these rules and precautions = Not allowed to drive. We are only allowed to drive through the desert, the same way as if we are driving on the road now. Even though Dune Bashing is permitted with the loosening of some COVID restrictions, the restrictions over social distancing still apply. So we will only do desert driving and stay sitting inside our cars at all the times and leave the drive without socializing or coming close to each other. Just like before we like to continue our desert drives through out the year, but this time we need your immense support to understand the strict control and to help everyone follow them all the time. How to maintain "STRICT" Social Distancing Meeting point will be set slightly (100m - 200m) inside the desert track. Please pay close attention to the meetings point as these have changed to allow enough space for everyone to arrive and deflate safely. Please make sure that you deflate quickly and off the tarmac. There should be only one person outside the vehicle when deflating before reaching the meeting point. While deflating tires, stop cars 10 meters away from any other car. Drive signup on calendar will be closed on Thursday morning by 9 AM. Convoy numbering and briefing will be posted here on this drive post before 6 PM on Thursday. All participants need to read & acknowledge the briefing by clicking "Totally Agree" reaction Failure to acknowledge the "Totally Agree" on the concersation thread will result in your being removed from the attendee list. Switch on your radio when you reach the meeting point on the set frequency advised by the trip lead in the pre drive convoy numbering and briefing here in this thread. Once everyone reaches to the meeting point, everyone except for people deflating or putting up a flag must stay inside the car at all the times. Trip lead will do the roll call, convoy numbering recap, critical briefing over the radio. Any suggestions or issues will be discussed over the radio too. You can also speak to other members through the radio only. So please make sure that your radio battery is fully charged. No radio = no drive. If your radio is not set to all the Carnity channels in advance there will be no time to reprogram on site. If you do not have the radio set up = no drive. Once all set, trip lead will start the drive as before. Refusal and Recoveries with Social Distancing Every drive will have 1 lead Marshal and 1 or 2 supporting senior members/crew. Whenever there is a stuck or refusal, only Marshal / Senior Member / Crew is allowed to handle the situation. Everyone else including the stuck car driver, stay inside the car - AT ALL TIMES. Marshal / Senior Member / Crew is only allowed to step out to access the situation and do the recoveries: They will wear mask and gloves at all times when they are outside their car. If at any time Marshal require help, then only you are allowed to step out by wearing face mask and gloves at all times. Drive completion and inflation For now and until the COVID restrictions are lifted, there will not be any gathering or sitting down together for food-break like before. 18. Thanks @Emmanuel and @Wrangeld for a exciting drive. Quite a learning how to deal with soft sand on an extremely hot day... hope to make it to iftar bowl sometime soon. We could realise how soft the sand was as soon as we entered . It was towards the end the breeze was getting more comfortable. Some pictures uploaded in gallery.

  27. I like oiled filters because they catch dust. The dust literally sticks to the oil. But they have their disadvantages. They need regular maintenance and cleaning. They should be washed in a soap solution and dried out before being re oiled. You can’t just blow them out with an airline or you might tear them. If you over oil them and oil gets into your AFM, it can burn the hot wire and ruin it meaning you need to buy a new one. Back in the days before paper filters, oil baths were used to filter dust before it went into the engine. Some heavy machinery still use these as huge paper filters are cost prohibitive. If you want something cheap and easy, a direct replacement high performance panel filter is the way to go. Cone style filters have the advantage of an increased surface area meaning you can filter more air faster with less restrictions. A lot of people make the mistake of throwing the air box and just fitting a cone filter to the intake pipe. This means you are sucking in hot air from the engine bay which could actually cause you to have slightly less power. They should only be used with a proper fresh feed induction system.

  35. Hi @Lorenzo Candelpergher Lorenzo, We are all 100% in agreement that family comes first. Thanks for the response. Yes, it would have opened up a space for someone else to join and that's apprecaited by everyone as spots are more limited than they used to be. See you soon in the sand.

  37. Dear @Ale Vallecchi @Srikumar i got involved in a pileup accident of 6 cars and got hit by a taxi that broke my rear mudguard due to lack of safe distance. The car has to be sent to the workshop as mudguard was rubbing the wheels. Thankfully, noone was hurt! Unfortunately will not be able to join tomorrow's drive . Thank you @Ale Vallecchi. Was not able to access as membership was under renewal. I also posted just now . Hope to see you soon.
