  1. It was the best pani puri tbh - @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler thanks for the treat buddy, and also for delicious food to go along with it. Great drive with @Kailas and support from @Simon D as well as @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler as well as @Mehmet Volga, @Brette & @Gaurav who lead wonderful drives leading up to the meeting point. I had a lot of fun, laughing all evening with fun anecdotes being shared by all - it was truly a memorable evening. Thanks to everyone who supplied unlimited & great food as well as nice drinks. At the end of the night camped at the spot and had a nice drive back to Al Qudra Petrol Station fresh to start a great Sunday. Thanks Team @Carnity for organising a wonderful event every year.

  2. @Abdul Mueed Mohammed, ground clearance and power ratios don’t always tell the full story off-road. They ensure that if you keep moving, you can keep moving. for example, if you compare the angles of approach, departure and break over, the Pajero will deliver better off-road readiness versus the Explorer ST. Pajero GLS vs Explorer ST Approach: 36 deg vs 21 Departure: 25 vs 22 Breakover: 22.5 vs 17 Wheelbase: 2780mm vs 3022mm Approach angle on the Explorer is a key issue as @Gaurav has mentioned above that will require extensive bumper cutting to improve. With such a low angle you will not be able to ascend up sharp faces or step style dunes. The break over angle when combined with the larger wheelbase will mean that you will significantly increase your chances of getting crested on dune ridges.

  6. wonderful drive @Islam Soliman, reminded me of the same drive a year before with you at the same place !! Only this time it was in a different car - Fortuner vs Wrangler that time. The area was quite busy with multiple convoys crossing us frequently, and thanks to you , we managed to find our way through to quieter areas and have our share of fun. It was my first "full length , complete" IM drive after i upgraded my suspensions. The previous 2 had to be cut short , one time due to me bending my shocks at Sweihan with @M.Seidam and the other one where @Ranjan Das car gave up after sand ingress to engine at same area Shuwaib with @Hisham Masaad. I saw you @Ranjan Das sign up for a drive, so hope your car is sorted out now. As @Rob S was mentioning at the end, we upgraded our success rate at Shuwaib to 71% with this drive. Great support from @Zixuan Huang - Charlie , @Rob Sand great to drive with all of you - @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler , @Gok Krish, @Haitham Khattab, @Imteeaz , @Beide Workuand @Joji varghese

As description from @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler on @Vaibhav driving skill post events seem to refer to some Goan speciality 🀣 @Kailas reference to @Goh KP’s chef is in itself mouth watering, tried some flavors last year and still haven’t forgotten the taste. Nice to read these awesome posts here. πŸ‘πŸ‘

  15. Thank you all for joining the drive Saturday morning. This area is never disappointing. from the quiet warm-up in the nice rolling dunes, to the small Ghafeteen Bowl (unfortunately full of cross tracks), then the technical climb to enjoy the full view of the sabkha and the surrounding dunes. The second part through the bigger dunes is progressively rising the level until we reached the massive Nagrah dune. Surprisingly for this time of the year, the desert was totally empty, and we have seen no other cars, except the locals training their falcons in the sabkha. @Lukas, thank you for the 2nd lead, very well driven for your 2nd FB drive. @Mike M., always a pleasure to have you. The White Rhino might have limitations for steep climbs, but can reach the top choosing proper lines. @Pranjal Varsani1 you have taken the Rubicon easily through the obstacles, @Benjamin, excellent focus and control of your car. An hesitation on a ridge made you crested, but don't worry at all, the fluidity will come with the number of drives. @Nathan L excellent control of your Pajero, thank you for the sweep ! Have a nice week all of you and seen you soon in a next drive.

  16. FANTASTIC EVENT. This was the best way to Welcome Winter !πŸ’₯πŸ™ŒπŸΌ! Great concept and the way it was organised, the location! Thanks @Carnity @Gaurav @Kailas @Mehmet Volga @Brette @JeromeFJ and all the supports, the warm up drives, that motivated 3 more kids from my tower, to jump in for this event . And for me : Those conversarions which we had surrounding the "Pajero bowl" , made me the only guy who had his 10k next day and despite this who dint say NO for @Gaurav Soni's Mexican and @Looper's One liter drinks! @Srikumar First time i witessed 1-2 rollovers in Pajero bowl yday but only the driver not the carπŸ˜‚, Hence FUN!πŸ’₯! @Kailas the half information receipe from @Gok Krish's Cook, am sure the outcome was delicious, next time some veg options too plsπŸ˜‚! @Karthik Raptor Thanks for coming to rescue for that Gasoline cylinder, Family stayed back 2 more hours as it kept them busy in MaggieπŸ˜‚! and @Vaibhav Next time u gott to get spare driver for obvious reasons! 17. What is Yellow Truck ? Buried deep inside the Bu Hasa Desert near Madinat Zayed City, there is an abandoned water tanker truck, which due to its remote location, has become a pilgrimage for many Offroaders all over the UAE. How did it get there ? That remains part of the mystery..... What's the location ? You will have to join the drive to find it.... And why exactly should we go there as a club ? This area, together with LIWA Moreeb area, is the ultimate playground for offroading, where you will find monstrous dunes, stadium-sized bowls, and the sheer size and remoteness will make you really feel you are in a different world ! This will be an unforgettable experience and will make you become part of our yearly pilgrimage team ! When?? When ?? WHEN ?? We have several drives lined up during the UAE National Holiday Weekend of 2022. Check the drive calendar and BOOK NOW !! We request every member that joins this drive to go through the below information and strictly follow these guidelines, etiquettes and responsibilities. Please withdraw your RSVP, if you aren't joining, so your spot can be taken by others. Repeated no-show members after RSVP will have their account suspended for a month. Important checklist for all members signed up on this drive. please read thoroughly and acknowledge. 1. Please ensure that you are there at the meeting point on 7:30 AM sharp. Late comers would be sent back. 2. Firstly, get lots and lots of rest the previous day. The more the better as Liwa will not only challenge your vehicle but your mind as well. We would need your complete focus and fatigue due to less rest is the last thing that is needed on such a terrain. For those who prefer camping the previous night, you can do so at the starting point as its a nice spaced out area. Bring some firewood incase if you wish to have a bonfire to keep you warm. Cleaning up after the bonfire is mandatory. 3. Ensure that your 4x4 is well serviced recently and all the lubes and fluids are topped up. 4. 20 Liter / 40 litre fuel jerry can is needed depending on your vehicle. If you have any doubts, please post your query on the drive post and we will assist. 5. A full fuel tank at the meeting point. 6. Spare tyre should be in good working condition. If not been used recently, ensure that you take it out and check the condition properly. Also ensure that you have the wrench that can be used to remove your tyre (if needed). In the past we have seen that people upgrade their tyres but still keep the the original wrench which is of no use to remove the upgraded tyre. So please ensure that your car has the right tool to remove the tyres (if needed). 7. Air compressor, proper shovel, flag, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, 8. Fully charged radio (tuned to all Carnity Frequencies) with spare battery / radio. If you have a car charger for your radio, please bring it along. 9. Please ensure that you know how to switch off traction control (turning off Air bags is not mandatory for this drive). If it requires pulling the fuse, please research before the drive or better still, post your queries on this drive post and we would assist. 10. Car charger / battery pack for your mobile. 11. Plenty of water, approx 5 litre per person per day. 12. Bring along your breakfast, lunch, snacks, etc in easy to eat packing. We shall be having breaks in between the drive. 13. Dry food, energy bar, cookies, nuts, crisp to munch while driving 14. Bring garbage bags along to carry your trash. Littering in the desert is strictly prohibited.

  18. Dear Friends Before we head guys to the YT quest on the national day holidays let’s close together the chapter of Sweihan Drives , ( doesn’t mean we will not come back again πŸ˜…),before we translocate the action to the new chapter further south throughout the whole winter, Inshallah. In this version we will start from where we ended last time in Sweihan IV in a route direction ( from west to east ) similar to version II but it’s souther to it ( look below pict . Green is II and V is black ) . The terrain is indeed demanding especially in the middle of it at top of NAGRAH heights . Full concentration and focus is mandatory in this drive and no less in importance the optimum status of your 4X4 vehicles . I will be looking forward to have this closing drive with all of you. stay tuned ! 25. BIG SHOUT OUT AND THANKS to everyone who joined yesterday's Winter Welcome Drive with their friends and family to make it so grand and colorful. It was really nice to see almost everyone with their families prepping the BBQ and live cooking, while kids played around the whole evening. The real fun time was the stories and jokes after the food, which made us laugh so hard that none of us wanted to leave and push the time 30 min by 30 min. @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler your idea of serving pani puri in the desert was so epic and creative that more than the taste (which was AWESOME), I love this amazing concept. @Kailas u perfectly captured the @Gok Krish chef recipe to cook perfectly well-done thermo-controlled BBQ Chicken. @Looper 1 liter cans were another new stuff that I have seen for the first time. Thanks, @GauravSoni to keep us warm with Mexican flavor. @Frederic and @Vanessa8580 we missed you and the kids a lot yesterday - our true party companion. Wish you a speedy recovery Vanessa, so that we can repeat the same on New Year's Eve, soon.

Right from the start till the time we exited, the smooth flow of convoy, covering long range dune, pace and technical patches, and soft sand adding to challenges that we were looking forward to - Couldn't have been better to spend Satday morning other than this way - barely Minimal refusals were confirmation how everyone else did in the convoy ! I found my new love : Shuwaib ( Sorry for the confusion at end point and holding the convoy - I couldn't resist those coconut water the minute i saw them ) Thanks @Rob S for being the sweep and keeping a clear eye on everyone , also assisting refusals. @Zixuan Huang - Charlie for being on your toes to assist those refusals and tugs ! And as always was great to see you all guys ! @Haitham Khattab @Gok Krish @Beide Worku @Imteeaz @Joji varghese @Sunil Mathew - Am sure, as for me, this drive will be long cherished by you guys too ! See you all soon again in sand !

  33. Hello @Abdul Mueed Mohammed..want to add 2 cents to the discussion, as an owner of a Ford Explorer 2011 XLT.. i know its not an ST, but in general the cars are almost the same, and my advice is not to take her offroad. "been there, done that" - i took the car for a mild offroad drive(not with Carnity), and i ended up losing the lower lip of my front bumper, and the front wheel arch liners (plastic). Once you get stuck and wheels start spinning, the wheel arch liners which are just held with some clips come off. Also, if i am not wrong, the ST has really low profile tyres, correct? In that case , after deflation, you will not have much of side wall left..you may need to consider that as well We had an expedition owner in the club , some time back who used to come for drives probably until fewbie levels..i dont think he drives with us any more @Ammar Naji

  42. Ford Expedition is way too heavy for some dunes, but overall it's much better than Explorer. However, if you know off-roading Expedition is quiet capable on big dunes, due to the powerful engine. I had a friend who used to drive Expedition for good 2 years and nothing wrong happened except the side airbag popped on the higher level drive (he cud've pulled the fuse).

  43. Sorry for asking redundant questions but what is your take on expedition. @Gaurav @Imteeaz

  44. @Imteeaz thank you for the detailed clarification, and after going through all posts i am pretty convinced to have an old 4x4 for off road experience and keep the daily use car and off road car separately. I will look for options and meanwhile start a newbie using the explorer may be

  45. Totally agree with @Imteeaz views on Ford Explorer, with limited ground clearance, and no low gearing, it's good for the beach or flat sand areas and not through the dunes. We have had many Ford Explorers in the past whose owners "just wanted to try" on Absolute Newbie drives and we have never seen them back in the same car again. Either the front bumper was damaged, the car overheated, stuck in weird places, etc.

  47. @Abdul Mueed Mohammed hello mate. Ford Explorer is a capable car with the 'sand mode'; I started off-roading with my Explorer 2014 model. However, the ground clearance is not great, it is not a 4x4 without low gear, and you WILL get stuck. My suggestion - try the Explorer on flat sand and small dunes - you will enjoy the drive. Dont try to take in deeper into the desert, unless you are looking at some serious modifs. Could you share a pic of your on-road beast? LOL
