    image.jpeg.900de0511c90c29d65bc54ecbf3f750c.jpeg

Hello and welcome back to Sweihan Drives my favourite area for the intermediate level drives and this time we return , inshallah , stronger , sharper no defeat or retreat and on top of all wiser to embrace the desert with big dune hug .

the plan is to cover as much as of distance within Sweihan in a fast thrilling paced drive . Concentration and sharp focus is extremely important as you know  . No place for fight or flight here because the gravity will pull you down always. Expect all sort of action tall dunes , ridge riding , squeezing in between tight technicals and a lot of switching over the ridges whenever possible . Please get enough rest the night before you will need it indeed.

please make final check on your vehicle and your gear attained for this level. As well as your radio communication devices to be fully charged . Get full tank as much as possible and the gas station is not far from the meeting point which is updated above .

These kind of overlanding trips, gives us all the chance to appreciate Nature at its very best and also to spend some time chatting with your passengers as well as other drive participants. I could spend so much time talking with my copilot, Kabir and the so many stories that he had to share. Those were the priceless moments that I will always remember from this drive.

The fact that we didn’t need to grab a shovel nor unfolding a rope says it all .every one did more that great .

thank you all for coming to share the passion

See you soon in the sand once more take care.

    Thanks @Frederic @Gaurav @M.Seidam.

Will go for the steel mount. Seems like it comparable price to the suction caps and won't have to think about it again.

    Cheers👃

Most welcome. Not encouraging or discouraging but all choices has it’s own advantages and disadvantages. One of the disadvantages of metal on metal ( pole and mount ) by time the threads will become loose and you need regular cleaning and lubricating not mentioning the screwing . On the other hand for the simple sticky wips it’s light easy to stick and unstick by pulling the nipple of the rubber cup . However this rubber gets stiff with time and to prevent the rubber from not holding additional spray of water 💦 as I am doing now helps a lot .

it’s totally a personal preference and taste .

all the best and see you soon in sand

Any better options than the AOR suction flag mount for a removable product??

This aor suction cup survived 3.5 newbie drives before the plastic housing snapped in half.... Using the normal (i assume) aorb two piece flag.

    Thankyou for your tips.

    PXL_20230214_045351316.jpg

The AOR flag pole is heavy on its own  suction cup . If you are looking for quick put and remove with the same mechanism ( suction / vacuum ) then I didn’t find more easier faster secured than the sticky wipes from Ravon . I have it for two years and no issue at all . Otherwise you can fabricate the Mount for more security as Frederic or Gaurav noted .

Waw that exactly same what happened to me , got bitten by the bug as a passenger , and in three weeks I was bouncing till now 🤣

The sad part is that the part isn't available now and Nissan says they will take 3-4 weeks to bring it back in stock

Oh that is oddly rare for Xterra . Did you try finding it out on the X mafia . ?

  10. The riddle was “ we see without seeing , and the dark will become as clear as the day light “ who are we?  .. yesterday truth is we were the desert dark knights 😅

Thank so much for joining the drive and I have to admit despite all the night challenges every one did exceptionally well driving throughout the terrain and as a matter of fact we had to take the rope only once at the end for the time sake .

it was a real pleasure for @GauravSoni to join us at the last min , your instructions to @Tharun Kumar V for recovering his sideway crest was impressive no less his patience till got away. Equally the same for @Davie Chase who spared no efforts supporting and guiding others whenever was needed with his calm reassuring demeanour. Always pleasure having you in any drive my friend. Thanks a ton 🙏 . @Imteeaz driving behind @GauravSoni I believe made your task much easier as the last car. Thanks for tugging @Ahmad Nerat at the end of the drive ( I didn’t see it ) but from the radio it looked fantastic and smooth I bet 🙏 . @Krishna R you executed the second lead amazingly well and you acted most of the time ahead of my instructions to you very well done . I hope you get your issue done soon which appeared at the exit point . Let us know please. @MohamedSherif knowing it’s your first Fb and first night I can say you were our true dark knight yesterday. Very well done .  @rohit kumarand @Ishak pleasure meeting you for the first time you both managed very well . Thanks for coming . @Pranjal Varsani1and @Ahmad Nerat I bet guys you enjoyed it at the back. I don’t remember you had any major issues guys very well done.
@Andrei S sorry that you had to leave at the meeting point . I hope you get well very soon my friend 🙏

Till we meet again wish you pleasant week ahead and take care

  12. Dear Desret Knights

Its time to take a ride in the dark where you will " see without seeing "and for you "the dark will become as clear as the day light "

this is the ultimate training to all your senses to get sharp and focus , to the glimpse of light or whisper of sound , smell or touch of wind on your skin, while you drive in a convoy enjoing the wild at night leaving the taste for the brake time .

dont worry if its your first night drive. in the breifing we will explain more about it . however its still worth mentionening for a reminder to come with full foot and leg wear as well as a good torch light to carry along whenever you step out of your vehicle. try to avoid nearby bushes so the night creepers too can avoid you. there is no need for offroad lights on your vehicles excpet the Lead Car but if you have them its totally fine.

The itinerary will be a mixture of terrains and the route path with all of its challenges will be dealt with in the dark .

please check your gear and car ahead especially recovery points, radios and safety flags ; any defect in these last three equal no drive.

stay tuned till the action begins toward the end of the week.

    Cheers

    Seidam

one option discussed was to position the raptor at a higher position (near the bush) while keeping the winching car a little closer to the slip face.

I was not there and my knowledge of winch recovery is theoretical ain’t practical . However probably you would need another raptor ( heavy powerful car ) to anchor the raptor still bit higher to offset the incline force as in the picture in order to keep it stable and not to be dragged as well  . This would dissipate slightly the slightly lost advantage if positioned at the bush as you said . However the yellow Jeep would be at less risk to topple on the other hand too . . We need a winch day definitely 😅

@Gaurav When is the plan please for the winch day ?

I can already see that winch day out gonna be a mind-bending exercise with so many great ideas, engineers and experts.

Already revising some Polly physics , I don’t know why I used to hate at school/first year college time but kinda love it now 🤣

That single tow hook went through almost 8 hours of tugs and winching bearing heavy load… m glad it didn’t break during the winching… @Anoop Nair please fix two tow points for recovery on the front.. another reason for not so effective pull during the initial stage was absence of a 2nd tow point which could not prevent the car from slipping..

    good point
