Thanks for the report @varunmehndiratta @Gaurav I think this was one of safest drive I could imagine in Liwa. Except few stucks there was no untold instance and near all drivers self recovered. I was quite surprised that two nissan petrol are turning out be heros of sand and climbs and now feel guilty of selling my new top of line NP replacing it with FJ. I did at times try practice using different gear combination for the sidie and tall climbs. The first attempt was based on brute speed and second on low gears for the additional power. It was always the second attempt which made me go higher. Ensuring there is not too much jolt on the engine upper frame with the crack, I was careful. The best experience was to have solo night in my tent. Around 3 AM the temperature dropped to 11 C and needed to tuck in under an extra (last minute pick) blanket. The next gadget I must buy is a cannister stove to prepare some hot tea. The whole day during the drive I was looking for Karak Chai tea stand appearing anywhere...by chance. Gaurav had detoured return, post yellow truck with consensus of all decided the return trip to be in opposite direction of the desert entry. Which added another 150 Kms to my return. I also had to attend my Niece anniversary.. so I drove over 400 kms to reach Dubai by 9.30 pm on reaching went straight to the hotel venue. Could not change clothes or bath.. I must been the (best??) dressed unshaven un bathed stinking among all the suites and booted party guest. Even the hotel staff wondered if I have landed in a wrong party. My wife a bit crossed did spray half a bottle of perfume on me as my relatives and friend as norm were giving me the hugs. All in all.. I thank everyone in the convoy for the enjoyable drive and could not have missed the drive created specially for us, who could not complete the same a fortnight back.

Dear friends I was so delighted to see everyone yesterday morning ahead of time ready for a drive that was by all means super fantastic by your passion and adherence to the safety aspect of driving in desert well abided by the convoy discipline and the most the high team spirit and understanding this team motor sport . I would say every one of you guys had the chance to feel his own vehicle especially the new Fewbies whom really did well all and all. I adopted my style stemming from my believe that any sport needs a warming up and ours is no different and increasing the pace and difficulty accordingly depending on the response till , if appropriate to say , the yellow/Red line of the drive level . in this one I might have touched the red no crossing it toward the climax at the end when I gave clear instructions to my second lead to exit earlier than I did . Safety is Number one Rule in all circumstances regardless the drive level . @topgear actually it’s maybe first time to have a closer meeting although we drove together before on more than one occasion . Your second lead was awesome taking carefully my instructions so the connected like magnet vehicles behind you did . Well done 👍 @Faisal Alhashimi nice meeting you bro and actually we arrived together almost same time 2 or 3 minutes passed 06:30 😊 . You drove like a pro . @Marcin Wronowski the promotion came just on time 😉 you did great managing your pagero very well @Morshedi I always loved the yellow ( limo ; an old friend used to call the LWB wrangler). Many thanks for the beautiful drive yesterday @M.Seidam ! You have composed a great itinerary, with the initial warm-up on the long range dunes, then the technical portion, where we could seen that keeping the momentum and the balance of the car is very important. Once fully awake, we could start the long ridge riding ! It was beautiful from the back to see the full convoy aligned on these long ridges, with the wind blowing sand from the side. Again on the ridge itself, momentum (and not speed) is the key, to keep the balance of the car, and avoid fighting the gravity. When needed, the drivers have exited safely on one side or the other, following the recommendations of @M.Seidam. We had a few stucks, nothing major, giving the opportunity for shoveling, and twice, we finally used the rope to save time. that's part of the learning also. Yesterday the wind was also in the party, I still have sand in my eyes !! The convoy drove very well, following your tracks and recommendations. @topgear, excellent 2nd lead, holding and rerouting when needed. You could test the self recovery capabilities of the FJ from a crest ! @Faisal Alhashimi, very well driven, following accurately the tracks of the 2nd lead @Morshedi, keep driving, you will control your speed and find the right momentum to stay on the ridges and limit your fishtailing on the side slopes. @Tom V, well done, continue to practice to find the balance between speed and momentum on the ridges. @Imteeaz Goolamhossen, well driven also, once the tire pressure was adjusted ! @Marcin Wronowski, @Simon Claes, @Peter Hager very comfortable yesterday, for you it was like a drive in the park ! @Shaaz Sha thanks for another good drive yesterday - quite different from our previous ones in area 53. My wife was happy with her decision to come along, and most importantly (for her and me 😬) didn't get too much sand in her hair. Superbly grateful to you to come back and make me part of the drive 🙏 Thank the rest of the team for being patient and really in Carnity the culture of "leave no one behind" is proved. On a personal note: this drive actually shows me how I progress in the community, how Carnity develops and supports me since starting newbie. My video That was a super demanding trip, 17 hours driving in total. I was dead even the next day but, next time I will attend this drive for sure! The most challenging part was driving in the morning when it was +14

Hello @Wrangeld@Alex Raptor Thank you for the wonderful off road experience. I appreciate your patience and passion you displayed through out the drive.............. @Wrangeld welcomed me with a beautiful puddle splash of my windshield near to the meeting point (that was refreshing). At, the meeting point, we were instructed to deflate the tyers to 15 PSI. To be frank that was not easy as we see in any ADNOC fuel station. However I would like to thank @Sunil Mathew for his deflating and inflating mock up before the ride, which helped me lot. Before we move to the desert I asked the ceremonial question of an absolute Newbie without fail. I asked @Wrangeldabout all the relevant modifications I should undertake for my next drive..... that too before completing my first drive. However, @Wrangeld ,with all respect due to an absolute newbie, said, let us see how much tear you would shed on first drive and then we will decide on the modifications. And as predicted I shed lots of tears in the desert. From the meeting point we moved to the desert and assembled at a point for the briefing. @Wrangeld started the briefing and handed over to @Alex Raptor for further briefing. That was the time I noticed a small yellow toy car on @Alex Raptor hand. Without much deliberation I concluded, this guy should be a hardcore car lover...otherwise who would carry his childhood favorite car toy for an off-roading. As he progressed with his briefing, suddenly @Wrangeld wielding a shovel in his hand started to dig sands in some obscure shapes inside the circle we stood. I thought @Wrangeld should be bored of this lectures, that is why he should be playing with the shovel. I could easily relate him, because I use to watch You Tube in almost all our online meeting during Corona days. Then, @Alex Raptor started explaining how we should jump over dunes. To make things clear he kept the yellow toy car on the sand bump made earlier by @Wrangeld with his shovel......Little did I know that @Wrangeld was making a sand dune with the shovel and @Alex Raptor was planning for a mock jump with the toy car in his hand. And, that was a beautiful explanation from passionate teachers.... As began our drive we stuck many times in the desert , but both of them provided proper guidance for the rescue. However, as our drive progress we slowly feel the rhythm of the drive..... we feel the beauty of the desert........... It was a great experience....Great learning........ it was such an eventful drive for me, heavy drop from a ridge end, broken inner fender, broken AUX fan, radiator cap leakage, and 2 stucks, but with the support from the entire convoey I made it to the end, oh ofc an almost fire alarm. Thank you @Shaaz Sha for bringing us there and showed us a whole new level of ridge riding, I still remember that I did my first ridge riding right behind your wrangler in the same area. I think the smooth, one straight line kind of ridge riding wouldnt bring me much excitment now! @Gregory I hope that I didnt make track too difficult for you, by lots of mistakes that I did. I didnt really have the time to check on your at mirror but I guess you were all fine, and thank you for saving my ass too~ @Matt.T @Thomas Varghese thank you for supporting the drive, really flawless, and your presence assured the whole convoy's safety See you all another time on sand!

I went to Dragon Mart (BA section) last week. Every shop was quoting AED 320 for the Golden Camel twin cylinder. I got one for 280 but my haggling skills are terrible so I am sure it is possible to pay less. After 2 drives I am very pleased with it. It fills each tyre from 15 to 35 psi in less than a minute. The gauge doesn’t seem too accurate though so I check with a decent gauge afterwards. I can’t be 100% sure it is a genuine golden camel but the logo is on the box (not a sticker) and the carrying case, and it hasn’t burst into flames yet. In the same area of DM I bought a shovel (AED 30) safety gloves (AED 5) and a flag with suction cup attachment (AED 75 - to my surprise this has lasted 2 drives so far. The flag slipped off the pole after about 30 seconds of the first drive but some superglue sorted it out). I bought recommended Baofeng UV-5R also from DM but online for AED 105 + 20 for delivery to Abu Dhabi. It arrived less than 24 hours after ordering.

Thank you @Wrangeldand @Alex Raptorfor the wonderful drive! After waiting in ADNOC for about 40 minutes, I figured that I could slide the positive crocodile clip under the plastic flap covering the battery and hook it on the positive terminal, The negative I clipped on to the hood gas lift shock/strut and within the next 8 minutes I managed to get all tires inflated. There is no need to take the flap /clips or anything else off. So new discovery made under duress!! Thanks again guys!

Great drive Fredric! it was a very good decision to move away from all the tracks into some less traveled areas. Credits to all the drivers for developing their skills and mastery of momentum as the drive progressed. @Matt.T it was my pleasure photographing your Jeep as I found it parked at the most suitable places to capture it to the camera. Moreover I remembered I had a polarizing filter with which I could play with reflective light and used it after a long time since I bought it.

Hi . It was a nice and chilling day today and thanks to every one for being on time. We started on time and it was lovely terrain..a blend of all the challenges . We had lots of criss crosses and many interesting ridge rides and side slops. The sand was super soft at many places and our convoy was ready for every thing that came our way. You guys were amazing today and it was not an easy task..... you deserve a round applause ..👏.👏 We had a few refusals and stucks but never had any serious issues to interrupt our flow, It was a pleasure driving with all of you. Thanks to @Matt.T for perfectly executed CF role and thanks to @Thomas Varghese for sweeping us safely and for the wonderful pics. Thank you @Zixuan Huang - Charlie for the perfect 2nd lead. @Gregoryyou were amazing today buddy. You really didn't have any sort of trouble in making it through those soft technical patches. @MMansoor , @JamesThorn and @Daniel YangYou people did really good today and it was not easy to maneuver your beasts in such a terrain..But you guys did well .keep it up. @Chris WingYou were outstanding buddy.. And other things with carnity i love safety is very important i saw you man time makes double sure of our safety at begaining your terrain were small dune with technical then you moved to bigger one and you chose your own path with out trail on most of case which i like your style i would love to drive more often with you

Thank you @Shaaz Sha for the most technical drive I have participated recent times. Surprisingly all the drivers coped up with the terrain very fast. Finally we reached not only to the Yellow Truck but we managed to cross the entire desert and reached to the other side thanks to excellent lead from @Gaurav support from @marks @varunmehndiratta and brilliant driving from the entire convoy also the vehicles. Without all these things together it is a nightmare to cross the unforgiving Liwa landscape. Many thanks @Wrangeld and to @Alex Raptor and indeed everyone else for a morning of great fun. Yes, the masterclass helped me enormously - I can’t recommend it enough to get a quick confident start to doing this (he says with all of 2 drives’ experience). Agreed on the ‘sand scoop’ - at the end of an enjoyable newbie drive today it took a while to get it back on because the exposed metal had been bent a bit. Thanks to another member I now have the number of a mechanic in Abu Dhabi and will try to sort it in the New Year.

Post Drive Report: Absolutely Fantastic That was a great drive by everyone. For your first time out in the desert, literally for some of you what you did cannot be under-estimated. @haridas kt you'll get used to the different feeling of being in sand and start to really control the car, instead of it controlling you (like it did a few times today) @Andrew McCarthy having done a masterclass helps a lot before venturing into a convoy drive and we saw today that what you learned first time round was put well into practice. You need to sort out the bumper - it's not sensible to remove it each time. Thanks for acting as second lead. Great job. @Asad only a few moments when the courage to use the accelerator let you down today. Some nice self recoveries. @Ashhad Siddiqui I am glad you felt you learned something today. We all learn, every time we go out into the desert. I think a few more convoy drives at newbie will be worthwhile for you for the future. Thanks for taking on the additional role in the middle of the convoy. @Zeeshan Patel the Patrol has a lot of power that needs to be tamed. Once you get the feel confident with your car, the rest becomes a lot easier. For a first time out, fantastic. @Dr Tanveer Ahmed so, you flummoxed me with how to get into your battery terminals, but apart from that, a great day out as far as I see. You controlled the car beautifully. @Siddharth gupta It's a beast and you handled it very well. As expected, you got crested, but after that you started to understand how your car works on the sand and did amazingly well. @Alex Raptor thanks for the incredible support on this drive from start to finish.
