Very good topic @Jessica Lambert ! @Melenany is a certified first aid instructor for the government. I will tag him in here as he might be able to chip in. I think you have covered it already really well. Accidents happen unfortunately and the better we are prepared, the better we can deal with them. In general if something serious happens, we are usually max 30mins away from the main roads on 90% of our drives we do (Liwa, Al Quoa, and other remote areas are more challenging). This means we can call the ambulance immediately and should be able to give a pinpoint location as to where the patient would need to be picked up. Within the Carnity club, we are lucky to have very capable members who are certified doctors in daily life, or people who have been trained in their profession to deal with such events. If i would have to rate the risk of occurence from my experiences i would say: 1) Burns (many cars overheat in the desert, or have cooling hoses or caps bursting off) 2) Dehydration. Is definitely something to look out for. 3) lacerations, crush, cuts, bruises, Not common but hence our training for recoveries and pop-out repair is essential. 4) motion sickness. Happens sometimes but with proper medication and exiting the drive this can be kept under control. 5) insect or snake bites. Not so common, and not deadly in UAE.

While I am still finalizing the route, would like to mention that due to temperatures crossing 40 deg. C by 9:00 AM, the starting time of the drive has been changed to 5:00 AM. As this means that you would be getting up at an unearthly hour, I will promise to do my best to ensure that your early morning rise was well worth it... 😜

Thanks @Frederic and Hi @Jessica Lambert Thats a great subject, however you will need to be cautious on what ca be done or adminstrated under Non certified 1st Aid and those open for a certified ones. For example offering any medications for motiom sickness or dizziness is not allowed however offcourse there's is a lot can be done while any one is offically certified and i talked to @Gaurav to start working on that for the carnity team which will happen soon. In addition to above The most important part is Those trumatic injuries that could happen due to roll overs and here we follow a more administrative routine which is; Injuries Assessment Form to register and check all types of injuries And to the kit some bandages and splints might be helpful The only thing again could be added is TRAINING for the best use of any of the 1st Aid materials.

I would like to do a survey of the most common injuries/medical emergencies that people have seen while offroading. I am going to assemble my own first aid kit because the off-the-shelf kits at pharmacies naturally can't have everything. For example, I imagine some of the more desert-specific incidents would be: 1. burns (from car parts and fluids, camp fires) 2. motion sickness 3. insect bites 4. snake bites 5. heat stroke/dehydration 6. general cuts/scrapes/splinters And black swan incidents to be prepared/trained in basic first aid for, such as: 1. shock 2. severe lacerations/crush/stab injuries 3. cardiac/breathing emergencies 4. concussion What injuries/issues do you regularly see/wish you'd been prepared for while offroading?

Dear @georgestainton, The Absolute Newbie drive is like an orientation drive where you get to know the rules and regulations of the club. Once you do an Absolute newbie drive you can apply for a promotion to other levels with a self declaration stating your experience and assessment of the Marshal whom you have driven with. I personally recommend you to go through the process of completing the required number of drives for next level promotion but @Carnity gives a chance to offroaders to self declare their experience and apply for a promotion if all criteria has been met. Kindly note this process is in place to ensure the safety of all who participates in the drives. Trust me Absolute Newbie drive is fun. You get to know what the club stands for, its rules and regulations, how to keep your convoy position, how to self recover, how to follow the tracks in front of you etc. We at @Carnity goes into the desert in an orderly fashion from the start to finish. Under no circumstances you are to overtake anyone in front of you. The well experienced Marshals who take you for the drive will be briefing each and every aspect of offroading and the etiquettes we have to follow in a convoy. Once you complete that drive you will be a better offroader. Let me warn you now - once you have driven with @Carnity you will never want to join any other club. Its highly addictive once you start driving with our club. You get to meet all the wonderful offroaders and very soon they will be like family to you.

The only other possibility is if you have taken a Carnity Masterclass with one of our Marshals. If not, I'll have to drop you from this drive. Dear Sand Sailors Thanks for RSVPing for the drive. Lisali is known as the first love of those who enjoy technical areas. However, there's another side of Lisalli - much less explored and hence much less travelled - its the beautiful long range dunes that extend beyond Muraquab in North to Qudra in South and much ahead. Our plan for the drive is to explore this terrain - criss-crossing through some awesome dunes and riding some of the most beautiful ridges Dubai has to offer. The fact that King of Shuwaib and Badayer @Shaz Shah has decided to join with us is a good reflection of what this terrain offers..:) Thanks @Shaz Shah We will meet at 5am and based on how it goes will decide our end point close to 9am. @georgestainton I can see that you just joined the club today and have joined for the newbie drive. As per club practice you should join an Absolute Newbie drive to get acquainted with club principles and offroading unless you have taken a masterclass. Unfortunately I cannot see any Absolute Newbie drive posted for this week. Unless @Ale Vallecchi accepts you to the convoy you cannot join this drive. I know its heartbreaking for an off road enthusiast to be dissuaded to join a drive but the club has its solid reasons to ask a fresher to join an Absolute Newbie drive prior to be included in a regular convoy. Please wait until the trip lead & marshal @Ale Vallecchi to decide and act accordingly.

@Shaz Shah bro thank you for a lovely joyful drive yesterday, that started with immediate big dunes and some refusals at first before getting the cars slightly adjusted after which the drive was a great fun👏. The terrain was a bit tricky due to the windy weather etc. Thank you @munkybizness& @Ranjan Dasfor all the great support always. 👍 And you to the rest of the wonderful team ✨️
