  2. Fuel economy can vary for a number of reasons. Like the others have mentioned, city and highway make a difference. Check your tire pressure too, under or over inflated tires can effect the mileage, also, I have seen a lot of people here keep there cars idling for extended periods. If you are checking this only for the last 90 km, 5 minutes of idling will drop at least .2 on your economy. Check it a couple times over 500km intervals.

  3. I always liked the R34 Skyline. It’s one of the last old of the old school cars before everything became modern looking. I do like all the technology in the R35 though. Haven’t driven one yet but I’ve driven a few R32 and R34 and they were a lot of fun. I’m a bit worried about driving a R35 in case it’s too clinical and I don’t enjoy it. Never meet your heroes and all that.

  4. Beautiful video @Xaf, love the slo-mo sand splashback. Very creative. You can upload the video on YouTube and share the link here with best quality, that's what we all do here, because some format have limitation to play back in different browser here. I sometime cannot watch iPhone uploaded quick videos on my android.

  5. Not bad, for 50% clean slate for traffic fines including the black points will be waived off too. https://m.khaleejtimes.com/national-day-2019/uae-national-day-50-discount-on-traffic-fines-announced

  6. Stuff like this is a real kick in the balls to all the people who abide by the rules and try to be civilised and drive normally Its like a reward for all the people who tailgate and flash the lights and switch lanes without indicators. Who cares what laws you break, the government will discount the fine If you break the rules of the road, you should be punished to the full extent of the law. i know so many people who laugh at the law, rack up tens of thousands of dirhams in fines and wait for discounts like this to get away with it. the law is irrelevant unless it is properly enforced.

  9. Reality is a Tesla, like most electric cars, is over 500% *less* likely to catch fire than combustion engine cars, which carry massive amounts of highly flammable fuel.... Statement by Elon Musk... But yes i agree that a car, not involved in any accident, should not go and ignite by itself due to shortcircuit of Li-Ion batteries or any other reason. The other issue is that it is extremely difficult to extinguish fires for electrical batteries.

  10. Thanks @Xaf for raising this request. We have very simple and easy to follow guideline: Adhere to the logo aspect ratio, do not scale up/down the width (alone) or height (alone). Use the logo in same color and styling, without any filter, tone or gradients. Always use the logo along with the icon in wide or square format. 12. Try paying from the ministry of Interior App or Website. You can make online payment only if there is no black point associated with the fine. If black point is there then you need to go-to Sharjah police station along with drivers license and pay the fine and get the black points. Good luck

  16. Remove it and keep it safe or else if desert removes it for you then it wont be in reusable shape. Image is not very clear showing the right ground clearance, if its less than 1 feet, 100% remove it to get 1 feet of ground clearance (at least). If it's more than 1 feet, then you can take 50-50 chance, only if you are very careful on every dune decline.

Looking for an easy relaxing desert drive for everyone with plenty of opportunities to learn and grow in this beautiful weather. Maliha is the perfect area for starting of your offroad adventure. It offers small to medium size dunes that offer plenty of opportunity to learn the art of offroading in a safe environment. 18. It won't apply at renewal time you have to see online and pay it up so you get the discount..and sometimes the fines don't get updated to show the discount then you have to visit the traffic office if the respective emirate to inquire so they update the new amount so you can then pay it up...

  24. This is the typical "scaring" information you will get from the companies who do not offer such cover. No standard insurance covers racing, rally, motorsport, contest, kind of events as it requires a visit from an inspector to check your car modification quality and stage of modification to quote you accordingly. For stock or slightly modified cars with reasonable lift, filter and protection mods etc. standard insurance is more than enough. RSA, AXA and even Oman offroad cover "COVERS" all types of offroad accidents, flips and damages as far as they are accidents means unintentional with an exception of damage done while towing (not covered). So for extreme stuck situation (god forbid) RSA offer 2 free desert recoveries per year you can avail that. Call RSA and double check my information, as I have recently got this information due to an incident we had. For changing insurance on registration card, passing and renewal is required.....? Very weird. Have you called RTA to get this information or it was advised by existing insurance guys?

  25. So after numerous calls to the company and broker they tell me that it is not possible to add offroad cover to my truck. The only cover i have is recovery of broken down vehicle from the desert. They claim that even if they do add "offroad cover", accidents involving for example the truck flipping or dune bashing is not covered by traditional offroad cover. Ill have to get some special entertainment cover. I have no idea what they are on about. Is this true? Can any one suggest what to do? I dont think it is feasible to cancel my insurance and take a new one and go through passing and renewal just to switch to offroad cover. 😑

  28. I guess it’s a Middle East thing why they don’t sell here? There just seems to be a set list of cars that people buy here and they don’t dare stray outside it. White Patrol after white Patrol after white Patrol, maybe a white land cruiser somewhere. Maybachs seem to be fairly popular with the high rollers in the big European cities. I’ve only seen one maybach in Dubai in 4 years and that was last week outside MOE.

  29. I use the wife’s card to buy stuff all the time and scarily nobody has ever said anything to me. She has a Chinese name and I’m a fat white guy. One look at the name on the card would make it obvious it’s not mine. It makes you wonder what illegal stuff is happening unquestioned on a daily basis.

  33. Offroad insurance is must have, as far as you can have it until 7-10 years of age of vehicle. If Noor can't add, cancel that policy and switch to RSA and AXA, proven best insurance with no-headache offroad cover. Check RTA process for change of insurance and update here too (in separate thread) to help others.

  34. Update: i just attached the policy terms. Am i reading it right? That its not covered? Thanks for the prompt response @Rahimdad . i got the insurance through Noor Takaful. I have already contacted them awaiting their response. Dont want to miss this drive. Already missed a few since i was out of the country. You guys are really very welcoming!! or are you just pretending to be so you can get me to join the cult?? just kidding.... 😜

  35. @Omairfk when in doubt better to ask. We are all here for you. It depends which insurance company you are using, check with them if you can pay the extra to add on off road cover. If it's a new vehicle it's worth every fil.

  37. Makes sense. Better safe than sorry. Another question which i forgot to ask is do i need comprehensive offroad insurance? I didnt get one at the time of registration as i didnt expect my desire to offroad to grow this quick haha..Since its in almost new condition, dont want to wreck it. Is it possible to only get an offroad cover added to your insurance now? Sorry for the many questions..

  38. 1. I have a 2017 Chevy Silverado crew cab 2. I will be humble and say i dont have much experience on dunes but have the will and the love to learn. 3. Yes it has the tow hooks front and rear. Do I need to remove the air damp which is attached to my trucks bumper or it will clear most dunes easily? I am not aware of the area as i reside in Abu Dhabi. Any advice would help.

  43. I guess one of the reasons Maybach hasn't taken off is because they look exactly like the Merc they are based on. Only up close you see the double M logo and slight variation in the lights and grill. Now If fished out premium money I wouldn't want my car that looks exactly like a much much cheaper S Class and in this case a GLS. And it's not like there isn't a market for luxury sedans and SUV. The RR phantom came about the same time as the Maybach was revived and it's doing pretty well for its self. So are the Bentley's and their SUVs the Cullinan and Bentayga. Maybach is not even like the Lexus of Toyota but more like Nissan's Infiniti
