proper off road capabilities
With radar at the lowest level with 8.9 Inch clearance, will diminish that definition big time.
This is as per my quick search online, as I have never seen one in the sand so far.
If he is buying for family camping and NB level drive, I think it will be fine but with a lot of caution on descending every dune slowly.
Ask him to check if Ford offers one here without Radar and a more off-road-friendly bumper.
I may sound old-fashioned, but for off-road use, I will stick with known, proven models rather than betting on a new launch that comes with desert photo shoot marketing material.

Looking back through the footage and trying to learn more I have come to the conclusion that when the right rear popped out and the car rotated 90 degrees to the left the right hand side step became a plow and caused the car to roll right.
As you can see in the photo below it bent back until it hit the chassis at which point the car’s inertia threw the car over.
Sad to hear this Brette, but glad you were all fine, smiling and still scratching your head for the sideview mirror.
Take it easy, take a rest and deal with insurance firmly.

@JeromeFJ I would like to join this drive but currently I am Fewbie . I would like to know that if having attended the DCT 2023 will qualify me for this drive.
DCT is not considered as 1 regular drive for promotion, let alone the whole level for various reasons:
- Regular drive instill the course correction of specific skill and give everyone ample time to learn each skill correctly and safely.
- Regular drive convoy discipline, majorly decides when anyone is ready for the next level or not.
- Regular drive stuck and refusal are always welcome and encouraged for skill enhancement, rather than fighting gravity excessively or even borderline, which I am sure all DCT participants must have done during that day.
My humble advice, is don't rush through the promotions and enjoy every drive to learn off-roading safely, which goes a long way.

Still tooooo heavy imho for a SWB
Not really, it's light compared to others. Patrol SWB is 2100, Pajero SWB is 1950.
Mine at the weigh bridge was 2200 (Gross).

Thanks for highlighting it, fixed it to Afternoon.

You have to understand the boundaries as gradients rather than a hard line. Just like the waypoints it feathers out in all directions.
Correct, and this is how we measured the GPS variance in real-time before the competition on the same site.
Blue track is my track while going from the deflation point to the starting point.
Green track is in reverse order after 1 hour. I used my same tire track as there was only one track in the whole sabkha. Same car, same gps, same gaia, same phone and we have recorded 10-15 meter variance. When I merged to the orange track, it was very accurate.

As a strict rule based off-road group, we SandRunners chose to do multiple passes when in doubt but not taking away at all from @Icon Auto fabulous and untouchable glory, I did notice ingress of formidable NO GO areas twice which would ideally lead to irreparable damage like disqualification in the lead drive route, maybe the other team members have got it clean.
Yes, they have and it's been clearly measured with Garmin Basecamp which is far more accurate than Gaia (web version).
You can clearly see the variance on all 4 tracks (within 15m variance) vs 1 orange (a clear case of GPS inaccuracy).
https://help.gaiagps.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003524167-Why-GPS-Track-Recording-Can-Be-Inaccurate
Moreover, as judges, we do pay close attention to such technical variances vs team taking advantages for fair competition.

A HUGE SHOUTOUT TO THE AMAZING TEAM BEHIND THE SCENES WHO CONTRIBUTED IMMENSELY TO THIS PHENOMENAL SUCCESS!
The journey towards achieving this remarkable milestone was nothing short of extraordinary. The level of preparation undertaken was not solely for the purpose of delivering the final result but also for the incredible feat of reaching this point. Countless hours of intense brainstorming sessions, sleepless nights fueled by determination, and the continuous challenge to achieve perfection were woven into the fabric of each passing day.
Central to the success of this endeavor was the unwavering commitment, knowledge, and patience shown by @Frederic and @Srikumar. Their passion for the project and their selfless dedication to creating an outstanding off-road challenge for everyone involved were nothing short of remarkable. They went above and beyond, making tough decisions such as adjusting travel plans, altering business schedules, and reprioritizing family commitments, all in the pursuit of making DCT 2023 a truly unforgettable experience for all participants. Their role and contribution can only be likened to the rocket fuel propelling this event toward excellence.
Selecting the ideal battleground for such an epic endeavor posed an enormous challenge for all of us. It had to be a stage worthy of champions, yet not so daunting as to be excessively risky or seemingly impossible to conquer. Striking the perfect balance required a keen understanding of the intricacies involved, and the team worked tirelessly to ensure that the challenge would be both tough and achievable.
As we reflect on this journey, it is crucial to acknowledge the collaborative spirit and collective effort that brought us to this triumphant moment.
Many thanks, @Ale Vallecchi for recce support and for saving my car from the farm fence.
Many thanks @Islam Soliman @Simon D @DP1011 @Sunil Mathew and @Cha for amazing support and control to keep everyone safe, informed and smiling from morning till night.
Each member of the team played a vital role, contributing their unique skills and expertise to the overall success of DCT 2023. This achievement is a testament to the power of teamwork, resilience, and a shared commitment to pushing boundaries. Once again, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event a resounding success!

MANY THANKS @Aser @Robk @Jeevan Koshy @Sumedh Krishna @Zeeshan Patel and @Sunil Mathew for brilliant teamwork to save LR4 today with tireless efforts and precise instructions at every key stage. Well done guys, you all rock the recovery today.
Apologies @Aidan Kennedy for shouting at times, as left vs right makes a huge difference in these critical angles.
Thank everyone else for your patience and support, yes we had a short spin today, but those virgin dunes without any shrubs was totally worth the chance. And we were blessed with great convoy and cars to enjoy those FB dunes at NB pace.
