This fan is a puller fan, but with just 12 inch of size as oppose to 16 inch radiator clutch fan (existing). If you kill your radiator fan and install this, your Pajero will overheat even more.

This 12 inch shows 909 cfm, and your 16 inch is delivering from 600 - 3,000 cfm when fully engage at 3k RPM.

You cannot use this fan as a condenser fan too as its a puller and not pusher fan.

    1. So if you plan to """""REPLACE"""""" radiator clutch fan with electric fan buy HIGH PERFORMANCE 16 Inch fan, with at least 2,000 and above CFM. Even better with speed controller, to have variable speed as per coolant temperature.

    2. If you plan to add additional AC condenser fan to have better AC cooling in stand still traffic + marginal engine cooling while offroading then you need to exchange this fan from puller to pusher. Add next to existing AC condenser fan as in Pajero there is a space for additional 10 - 12 inch size (please check the space, before ordering.

    3. HOWEVER, by adding this fan your engine oil cooler (in front of AC condenser) and

    4. A/T oil cooler (below AC condenser) still have no change in temperature.

Thank you Gaurav. I am not changing the radiator fan which you had mentioned in point 1. The new fan will be additional fan as you said in point 2.

Yes, I can feel now days that AC is less cooling when ideal or low speed and even in desert.

I clearly asked the spare part shop that I am looking for fan which pushes air on condenser.  I will get this replaced. How to check if the replaced fan is pusher or puller?

Please suggest is there anything else can be done for A/T oil cooler.

Hi @RohanH am also thinking to do the same due to temperature increase while offloading, pls let me know from where you brought the fan and how much cost.

I bought it from Arctic auto spare part al quoz.  Photo attached. Its 180. The same fan I checked in authorised company Ampex engeneering. Its 270 + tax.

There is some other fan in market.  Named Pokko. Costs 50 aed. But I got to know Spal is better.

Even you can try if you get something better in used market.

I need to see if this fits in the space or else need to change the size. Garahes are asking 150 aed here.sharjah garage offer less price for fixing.

This is the one I bought. This comes in bulk so it I did not get the box. Seems these store import it directly from outside.

Yes, I feel make it direct and turn it on only when offroading. The radiator fan is a clutch fan whose speed is controlled by the engine temperature, whereas what you are referring is for the AT cooler. Two different things.

    29 minutes ago, Gaurav said:

Not two, four very different things.

    1. AC Condenser fan - (front of condenser)
    2. Radiator fan (clutch fan) - behind of radiator
    3. A/T cooler fan - Non existing in Pajero
    4. Engine oil cooler fan - Non existing in Pajero

Sorry @Gaurav & @Srikumar I am less aware of technical terms.

I am referring to adding extra fan for condenser - The Fan which we put extra just in between condenser which is top left side and the front grill.

When I say the radiator fan- the fan which starts when temperature rises.

So if all thing are different then adding extra fan will help in any ways may be ?

Trip report from my point of view.

Firstly I would like to apologize for the 20 minutes delay. But Captain @Wrangeld briefing before take off was enjoyable, I'm glad I didn't miss it. By 5:30 am though we were all ready to move. I'm glad I took @Wrangeld invitation to join this drive, I would not change my mind for any other drive this Friday. There comes a time when as off-roaders we have to learn that for some time on playable long range dunes we have to go through some small technical dunes as well. This Friday drive it was a great learning for everybody to stay on the track as set by the leader, as if you are a bit off your car is going to slide into a really challenging situation.

It was also a day to put self recovery learning to practice and I saw so many such feats which made me very proud. @Wrangeld choose the perfect path and gave us loads of opportunities to learn from this trip. Thanks to the wonderful weather he even extended the time of the drive to allow everyone more time at learning even though he had a drive to support in the afternoon.

@Lorenzo Candelpergher surprised me with the ease with which he manuevered his beast. I would have never thought I'd see the day when I'd see a Y62 do so well in those small technical dunes, but I have had a change of heart now. I believe the advise for the gears also came from @Wrangeld and @Frederic, put to great use. So yes driver wins.

@Jolly Abraham has been one to teach me that a 2.7 litre 4 cylinder is also a Toyota and still capable as long as it's in the right hands. My thanks to him for joining me for a recce trip to find a quick exit. Just needed one tug while attacking a front face as I did not want to create multiple tracks to confuse anyone. Quick Learning as the next front fave was even steeper but he managed well.

@Yousef Alimadadi is learning real fast. I believe he is the master of self recoveries and I feel very proud to see him grow and do so well.

@RohanH is very patient and follows instructions well. Just see some hesitation at times, and experimenting at times. Although some experiments don't work well, but every stuck and refusal teaches you a valuable lesson and seems you are on the right track.

@Shiju Manuel is always in the right spirit and the right frame of mind. I'm sure as he grows in experience he will make a great off-roader.

@asifk maybe it's the name. I have lots of respect for the name @Asif Hussain. But I have seen glimpse of brilliance at a very early stage. Really love the calmness with which he handles situations and is a very strong and helpful character. I'm sure @asifk growth in this sport will be just as remarkable as @Asif Hussain and just waiting to drive with him time and time again.

@marks just stopped to surprise me. Sure he has an FJ, but he is not the only one with an FJ. He has shown week after week that off-roading is in his DNA. Very capable but quiet individual who nobody notices since he quietly slips under the radar.

@Nizam Deen another quiet individual. Still work in progress. Still learning. But largely on the right track, coming out week after week and learning and putting our teachings in practice. Love the cool and calm nature, follows instructions well and wants to watch and learn. Very keen learner and should start seeing some real goid changes real soon.

@Mehmet Volga keeps things interesting. He accepts whatever comes his way with a huge smile and lit of enthusiasm. Trying to learn and grow within the Carnity structure at his own pace and not phased out by challenges faced by him. Lovely personality and has offers to put smile to anyone's face. Thanks for offering the energetic orange juice, but I'll be waiting for my other drink.

@Janarthan what a pleasure knowing you were in sweep and out to help me with my duties to keep the convoy moving. At one point there was some exhaustion, but you never showed it and kept your energy up throughout the drive. Recommendable trait to follow. Off-roader are tough, but everyone can get through with some help, I'm so glad that I had you for help.

@Wrangeld love your lead. You never want to take the lead in an easy area. Always finding areas where you can challenge yourself and develop everyone in the most complete manner safely. You did it again. You found the best track, in the best area with wonderful weather. Hats off to you. This is what @Gaurav bhai promised me in developing new leaders. A different flavour every time. I love the @Wrangeld flavour and difficult to think any one in Carnity now who would reach your flavour. Hope you got some rest before the afternoon drive support. Love your energy levels and your briefing. Till next time I bid you all farewell with a promise to see you in the dunes again soon.

Thank you @Rahimdad for all your guidance. It was good learning for me specially at the time of self recovery.

I am happy that I am on track 😝

  6. Hi Guys , I have bought a extra fan for condenser today to avoid heating/faster cooling. 2 weeks back I had transmission heating . Though it is solved by changing all fluids like a major service, I want to have additional fan as few of our friends have installed it to overcome heating issue. Also the refrigeration guys recommend this for better cooling as well.

Now want to know whether should it be direct - I mean should I attached it to battery so can it can run all the time( may be we can add on/off switch to switch it off once use on road) OR should it be attached to radiator fan so whenever engine is heating the fan will will start in this case it will work when radiator fan works.

You had a good price for the unit (if it’s original Mitsubishi part of course). Like I mentioned installing takes max 15-20 mins and can be done easily yourself.

There is a condition programmed In the 4WD ECU which ONLY allows your Rear Diff lock to be engaged IF you’re in 4Lo and the center diff light is on. If that’s ok but still does not work then it might be the compressor (brrr...brrr).

If the orange center Diff Lock light is not activating, that sensor or wiring is probably defective.

    Yes. You are right.

I bought it from Divya so I believe it is original.

    Good Evening Al Lisali Adventurers

    @Janarthan @Shiju Manuel @RohanH @asifk @Lorenzo Candelpergher @marks @Jolly Abraham @Nizam Deen @J J @Yousef Alimadadi (and the reserves, in case anyone drops out @Mehmet Volga and @Jorge Stepniak Felippe)

The countdown continues and there are two more days until we venture into the sand again. As you are preparing for this adventure please take care during the following days to make sure of the following (yes, this is a bit of a moan, but I think you will all understand why:

    1. You have all the equipment you should have and it's in good working condition. When you were promoted to Fewbie the communication made very clear the equipment you need to have on board. Additionally, PLEASE, please - make sure you have a flag that will stay on/up/erect during the drive. There's little more frustrating for drivers than to hear "My flag has fallen down/off" and everyone needs to stop while you put it back in place; especially when there were no other reasons to stop.
    2. Engine fluids need to be checked every time before you go out. Sorry to say, but it's clear that some people have not been checking this out before leaving for the drive. I am sure I do not have to remind you, IT'S HOT. That means your car will get hot and all the fluids needed to make it run when it's super hot need to be checked. There's absolutely no problem stopping to let cars cool, but if it driven by your having forgotten to top up the oil or coolant, it's not fair on the other drivers.
    3. Be on time. We are all waking up at some godforsaken hour to make it to the drive on time. Punctuality has been brilliant recently, which has meant even when the meeting point was not easy to get to we started on time. It's not fair, however, to be the last to arrive and expect everyone to wait for you if they all get there early. And, obviously, the earlier we get moving the better for everyone.
    4. Do expect a little driving on a track before we get into the dunes. A pre warning so you are informed. There is a straight and rather long camel racing training track that runs inside the dunes close to Al Lisali. Because we cannot cross this, we will have to take a track under the electricity pylons for a few kilometers before we get into the dunes. It's important you know this so that you don't think that we went the wrong way or will be driving on tracks the whole drive.

OK - enough for now. @Rahimdad and myself are looking forward to an excellent drive Friday.

There will be an additional briefing note once the drive closes at 9am on Thursday morning where the convoy numbering, responsiblities, radio channel and a few more important details will be shared. Until then, enjoy the rest of your week.

See you soon in the sand.

Hi @Wrangeld My compressor was broken in last drive and I have already ordered the new one from ACE. But I fear that it will come by Thursday night or not.

As mentioned in drive details, end point will be Last Exit Al Qudra. After the drive, I can inflate the tires on petrol pump in last exit. I hope it is ok .

    - Keep it out of the sun during use.

    - Don’t overload it: inflate max up to 4 tyres and give it some rest.

    - Replace the hose if it’s leaking otherwise your compressor will have to work much longer and harder and will eventually overload.

    - Be careful with the unit, store it in a bag and don’t throw it around.

With the Dragon Mart compressors you need some luck. Some will easily last a couple of years, others will fail after a few weeks or months.

    I got it. Thank you.

With the re-investment in the compressor, I have no option left but to keep my compressor safe in order to keep my wallet safe and healthy.  😄

  10. Guys looks like Ace is having the promotion on Bush ranger Super max air compressor. please check the site mentioned below. This is available at 649 and black max is 799. But looks like this super max has higher capacity than black max cheaper by 150 aed. These compressor's have 1 year warranty. My earlier compressor which was very cheaper in price but stopped working in 15 drives. So I really don't to put money on non warranty product. So have already ordered 1 . Lets see when do I get it.

    @rohan

Happy to share my honest review abt Liberty KK (08-12)

Currently running stock 3.7 V6 engine.2.5" Rough Country leveling kit. 1.5" Yita spacers but had to remove it as it was causing running issue.

265/70 R17 Dunlop Grandtrex. I have trimmed almost 40%-50% of my front bumper and somewhat similar on the rear one.

be prepared to trim the front bumper for fewbie and upwards the stock will break a 100%, for sure. rest everything is stock on my jeep

I have be able to handle almost every challenge the dunes had to offer. Initially had an O2 sensor issue and was lacking power  but once replaced it has been an absolute beast this is a very common problems with these models  . Never had any major issues the engine and transmission is solid even after putting 280K kms on my jeep. i am happy with the overall build. I don't want to say more and jinx it :-P

have recently put bigger tyres and need to see how it plays out .

Having put these Kms my jeep it is now a hybrib " It burns Oil and Gas" @Srikumar

Approach and breakover angles are a bit less when compared to others and you will need to lift it and trim it.  once done there will be no issues

KK suspension gives good affroad capability and a very comfortable on road experience.

Maintenance is not expensive you just to know the right place to get your stuff. eg 6ltr mopar 10k oil is 100aed .

overall i would say its not the best but its best for me. it offers good Box looks and decent offroad capabilities

you can find 2010 under 100k kms  for 15k aed

Have been using it for offroading almost 1 1/2 yr and loving it ,would not trade it for anything else.

    Wow..well explained. Thanks.

Actually,  I had mentioned the feedback for liberty on the best 4X4 off road cars so that it can be also added to list. But I dont know,  how it got new topic.

Indeed, it is good to take the opinion before buying any car.

Thank you everyone for your valuable inputs.

i have experimented with the whole onboard compressors for a year and i have quite a bit to share on this. I initially went for a camel chinese compressor and got it wired into the battery through the side panels. The setup was great until i shot the compressor once as i overworked it. After that, I replaced the compressor two more times and i gave up since i wasnt able to identify the reason why the compressors were dyingin this setup. I then went for the bushranger super max (which is not as fast as the camel chinese but way more reliable as it comes with 5 years warranty)and i have been happy ever since. But i now realize that the main culprit was the wire. The most critical element in this setup are the wires as they should deliver the required amperage to your compressor. If the power delivered is not sufficient, your compressor will work but not for long. So bottom line is that you could go for the camel chinese compressors but you will need to ensure that you get the right wires for the setup. My bushranger requires less amps than the camels, so the current wires do a great job, but if i swap it back to camel, then it will eventually die.

However having said all of this, even though i have not personally used the arb twin pistons, i know that it is the best setup and there is a garage that is running a promotion right now whereby they are providing the unit and installation for 1999.

Today I went to ACE for this Black max.  Price is 799 AED. They said it has 5 years warranty in Australia, but in UAE it is only 1 year.

Then checked Vitaly which is around 340 aed and 6 months warranty.

I checked the Camel compressor today in ras al khor accessory shop. It is double cylinder costs around 300. It looked sturdy. But it dosen't have any warranty.

Do you have any idea regarding Dragon mart . Do suppliers give the warranty on Camel compressor?

    Very nice drive today!

I followed the recommendations by @Wrangeld, trying to drive in D whenever was possible, and in any case trying to keep my RPM below 2000 almost all the time. I then switched back to manual gears from time to time, having realized that most of what I would do in 1st gear until last week I could now easily do it in 2nd or even 3rd gear, with a much smoother / lighter ride and with more momentum as I could go a bit faster. It felt as if I were driving a totally different car, honestly much easier to deal with, less brutal and churning much much much less sand. What a surprising change!! Today I feel I made my greatest progress since I started off-roading.

Driving so comfortably, I really enjoyed @Jeepie's nice track for the day. Over 30km (see track data below), starting with a very nice sunrise unveiling the skyline of Pink Rock over the horizon and then ascending the rock itself and turning all around it clockwise, which offered very nice views.

The path was very interesting, alternating small technical dunes and larger ones with a few nice sideys, criss crosses and ridge riding. With my "brand new" driving technique (ahah) it all came very natural and I never had a single moment of serious difficulty, despite being quite at the end of the convoy.

Thanks also to @Brette and @Ale Vallecchifor the speedy recoveries which minimized our idle time due to stucks, significantly less than the last few rides.

    See you next week!

    Screenshot_20200717-104829_PathAway Pro.jpg

    Screenshot_20200717-104650_PathAway Pro.jpg

Exactly. D is easiest. Just press the pedal and machine work for us.

Earlier wherever I tried to use manual gear, I used more of 1 and 2. But after pushing it more in 1 suddenly the power used to go off and I was feeling that there is some issue with machine. Yesterday mechanic told me that after high RPM it actual happens that power goes off if it is gear 1. Today I tried to use more of 2,3 and I felt it worked. In couple of places, I couldn't do it so I just out it on D. So I think there is big scope of learning how to use manual gear and which really helps in desert.

Guys i found a car and i am in purchase process now. This question could be odd for the people who doesn`t care about plate number. The car i am buying have the plate of N 78997. Which is nice number with double 7 and double 9. I have the plate number under my name D 30197. D is bit nicer because it is old plate from year 2000. N plate belong to year 2011-2012 but numbers are nicer. What would you choose? I know @Gaurav also in to plate numbers. If there is any other plate number freak let me know what you think/

I think you should go with the one you like most among these 2. Sorry but I don't think there is anything special in D-30197 even in terms of numbering as well rhyme except any emotional attachment. So If I have to chose I will take 78997. If you want to keep the earlier number then can reserve as well I thinks its 45 aed for 3 months.

I kept reserved the number O- 26965 when I sold my corolla and used the same number for Pajero. One of the coincidence's is Color of both cars are same, its grey. In fact, I am using the same key chain, same hanging toy and same Xmas cape for all seats. And I smile when I think of this. So I will keep the same number for future cars.

    4 hours ago, Gaurav said:

If you dont have any emotional value attached to any number like bday, first car, bla bla then Im sorry to say both numbers are no big deal and goes in usual recycle mode from RTA.

    Value of importance

    • 4 digit - 5k to 20k - sold by RTA
    • A code - 2k - 5k - sold by pvt seller
    • B and C code - 1k - 2k - sold by pvt seller
    • D onwards no one pays for anything

D plate code goes in super high demand in 1, 2 or 3 digit as RTA was only allowed to sell D code initially (till 2010), so in 1-3 digit they only used to sell D plates in auction/advertise. Now I think they can sell any plate.

D and 5 digit - no special value.

I have reserved A46329 - my first car in Dubai in 2002 - emotional value.

I have bought L2404 - my bday - from RTA directly.

Wow. 2404 is good number and it looks very prominent on your 2 Door Pajero

    Guys,

I was finally able to get back to the desert with the new toy Pajero 3.5 SWB. I got a few things done prior to my drive but I did expect few things to pop up. I could really tell the difference between my Y61 and this in just few minutes. It felt very responsive.

@Gaurav bhai test drove it. Looks like it passed his initial test but to get it to the machine that I can rely on during our off-road adventures; need to get some upgrade done to it.

Please help me with suggestions or tips on how to get it to stay cool. Thanks in advance.

    20200706_190637.jpg

Congrats ! You said you could see difference in Y61 and Pajero. Pajero is more responsive. Does this mean SWB is even better than Y61/Super safari?
