    Plz check:

    - Air filter. Most cheap workshops just clean it with compressed air, but once in a while you should actually replace it.

    - Injectors: injector cleaning can help. There are specialized workshops.

    - Spark Plugs: replace them every 60,000kms

The MAF sensor usually works fine until it starts throwing engine check lights. If that’s not the case, I don’t think your MAF is causing these issues.

Thanks @Frederic.. shall definitely get these checked…

  2. Lately I happen to notice that the power output of my 2013 3.5 Pajero is bit sluggish below ~3000 rpm and as soon as the rev goes above the ~3000 there is surge of power similar to a turbo kicking in if not that much intense...

Especially when climbing high dunes it makes a difference, only if I am able to get enough run up to get the rpm above 3000 it goes through.. else the car completely goes slow goes and stalling..

I have done some research online and few of the thighs pointed out were faulty fuel filter, throttle valve, MAF sensor etc..

Has anybody else experienced the same and found a fix? OR is this the way power delivery is expected from 3.5...

    Seeking advise..

My two cents worth (as I'm sure you already know...) none of the above listed upgrades are even remotely 'necessary' and the personal experience of every person who has gone down the various routes to personalise their rides will vary widely.

Right! having put up my caveats, here is my experience.

I fitted a 40mm lift kit being springs and shocks. At this level, there is no need to upgrade the upper arms. This allows me to hit the bumps harder and land softer (including judder bars on the road) I 100% recommend this upgrade as the car drives far better with this modification (in my opinion) and handles the dunes very well.

Stock 18 inch rims remain with no spacers but higher series tyres give a 5% increase in speed at same rpm which makes the car more economical on the road (ha ha) but had the effect of making what had been a 2nd gear climb into a 1st gear climb due to the higher gearing. When these current tyres are finished, I will go back to the stock height tyres.

Your experience may vary but this has been mine.

    Cheers

Thanks @Warren Flay.... any recommendation on a good brand to go with on the suspension...?

  4. I am in the process of weighing the options of going in for an upgrade on the suspension and wheels for my 2013 SWB pajero.. I had gone through the previous threads and could see the below set of possible upgrades....

    1) Lift for 40 mm springs

    2) Shocks upgrade

    3) Upper control arm upgrade

    4) Spacers for wheels

    6) Wider set of wheels

Not sure if I have missed any...Seek your advise and opinion in understanding how much improvement each of the above upgrades really bring in to the drive? which of it is necessary? is it better to go for a phase wise upgrade....?

I am with the thought of going in with what is necessary only but has been recently fancying the idea getting a Dobinsons spring and shock kit...

  5. @Anish SAnother wonderful drive.. It was my first fewbie+ experience and i thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it...

A good mix of technical and long dunes... both offering its own set of challenges to learn through.. last bit was good teamwork on recovery.....

Most importantly its was pleasure meeting all, some of you for the first time....

Looking forward to the next drive....

  6. @Aisha Sglad u made it back safe and fast.. The way i see it we all had a short master class on dealing with pop outs… part n parcel of taming the dunes...

@Chaitanya Dthanks for leading and  coaching as through some of the essentials: safety, pop out fix process and most importantly dealing with ambiguity… also we had the best drive of the terrain and conditions had to offer..

    @Josh T. U r simply amazing mate…. The support and energy u bring in to the drive…

highly appreciate and enjoyed the team work and synergy with everyone…

See u all in the next drive…

  7. @Lawrence_Chehimi Had my 2015 JGC started making the ticking sound into ~140K kms and ~5.5 years.. Its a known issue with 3.6 pentastar engine and is to do with the rocker arms...  I think Jeep fixed this issue for the cars post 2015.. From my experience and what I have read online, it doesn't affects the cams immediately though the sound gets scarier.. But at some point it can damage the cams...

I had mine fixed after running with the sound for arnd 20k Kms.. It cost approx 10K to 20k to fix at agency depending on the damage....In my case, car was out of warranty but still got goodwill approval from FCA done through the agency where I ended up spending only 3.5K which came along with 6 basic oil change services included.. in my case the car had full service history with the agency..... I would suggest to try the luck with agency for a good will approval..

  8. Thanks for the wonderful drive @Kailas. Liked two bits of it the most.. the initial practice/coaching session we did for the ridge riding and criss-crossing... all along it was more learning it on the fly for me, but this time I have a better understanding of the technique and approach we should take doing it.... The second bit was the high pace drive and maneuvers that we did towards the last quarter of the drive...

@M.Seidam & @Lawrence_Chehimi. .. a big thanks for all the efforts that made this long convoy run smoothly.... learned a lot watching all those recoveries that you guys helped out....

@munkybizness Thanks.. perhaps I am learning to tap more our of the car...😄.. hopefully see you on next weeks drive...

  9. Bought a Nilight (ZH409 20 Inch 420W Triple Row Flood Spot Combo 42000LM LED Light Bar with Heavy Duty Off-Road Wiring Harness). The spec says its 420W rating light bar which equates to 35Amps. The combo wiring harness that came along have a 15A fuse on the positive battery terminal connection with a 40A relay for the switch, The wire in 16 AWG which is technically rated for 15A. Please advise on the below,

    1) Is the wiring harness suitable for the 420W light bar considering that the wire is only 15AWG and there is a 15A fuse. Will the fuse blow off with the 420W load.

    2) What's the max rating of light bar, spot lights that we can go for with a Pajero 2013 model. Is an upgrade on battery or alternator required?

Thanks in advance for the advise.

  10. Thanks @Anish S and @Hisham Masaad for another exciting drive today morning… Though I missed the high dunes and the play areas from our last week’s drive, this  terrain threw in different set of challenges with inconsistent soft n hard patches and the vegetation (got the opportunity to field test my new bash plate)… the drive was a different learning experience..

    @munkybizness: Excellent drive writeup…

@Looper yes.. even i felt i shud hv steered it better and had better throttle control to avoid digging in, as I thought about it later.. anyways now hv a better hang of it, lesson learned for my next refusal opportunity….the SWB definitely offered the advantage of better pwr to weight ratio..
