  • Gaurav changed the title to COVID19 Compliant - Absolute Newbie Desert Drive - Al Qudra - Dubai - 28 May 2021

Hi @Will Seivewright great you signed up for the Absolute Newbie drive in Qudra on Friday. I am looking forward to meeting you.

We ask all new drivers to tell us a little about themselves, so we can plan around the needs of the convoy. So please can you let us know:

  1. Is your car modified in any way? [Will, we know that the Raptor is a very capable vehicle without modification, but you never know]
  2. How much experience do you have off road and in the desert? I noticed you originally signed up for one of our intermediate drives.
  3. What's your eventual 4x4 goal? It would be good to know what you want to get out of off roading.

Thanks and looking forward to seeing you on Friday.

Hi Richard @Wrangeld, looking forward to finally start driving after a year worth of experience as a co-pilot.

To answer your questions above:

1. My vehicle is modified with a 2in lift-kit, 33in AT tyres and off-road suspension.

2. My father @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ handed me the wheel sometimes for basic driving, but I would still like to be looked at as an Absolute Newbie. Though I have quite some experience with sand (as a co-pilot), along side @Carnity for over a year.

3. To learn Off-roading in a safe and thrilling manner along side many other fellow members. I also see off-roading as an essential survival skill, would be nice to add it to my CV 😂

See you in sand soon!

@Wrangeld I will be available as a support member if needed, though I won’t be driving, rather I’d be a passenger 😂

@Abdul Rafay-S this is the moment to get a little payback and insist you dad this time ‘move into low gear’ if he is tiring walking up the dunes and shoveling :)

#fatherSonGoals!  Cannot wait to have this moment with my lad!  Have fun and be gentle on your dads car! 🙏🏽

H Wrangled. Thanks for leading the drive on Friday and I also look forward to meeting you! The car is completely standard – I’ve just fitted a compressor and a flag! I’ve done around 20 drives in the desert over the 12 years I’ve been in the UAE. 10 or so were several years ago when I had a SWB Wrangler and then the odd one or two drives since – I also went out with Off Road Zone a few times. I’ve been driving out to camp in the desert several times in the last year as well. I bought the Raptor a couple of months ago and did a one-on-one half day drive with an instructor for my first time out in it to get the feel of it. I’ve since done another 3 drives with friends in Al Qudra. I tried to sign up for an intermediate drive not realizing I needed to start with an Absolute Newbie drive first! The main things I’d like to get out of off-roading are to upskill my desert driving capabilities in a safe environment where I can learn from those with more experience. I’m also looking forward to meeting new people and seeing different parts of the UAE desert. See you bright and early Friday!

Hope you have got the shovel ready. It's pay back time. 😅

@Niki I agree, this is a wonderful moment and hope the father son duo enjoy it to the fullest. I have to wait another 12 years for hopefully this moment to arrive

Great thanks for that. You can self certify after the first drive.

hi @Wrangeld

ive just joined carnity this evening and signed up for this beginners drive at quadra on friday

i look forward to joining

i saw the questions on the event details so heres the info

1.) jeep wrangler sahara 4 door 2021 no modifications.

2.) ive done 2 EDI driving courses in the past, November 2019 was the last time.been passenger on friends driving out at pink rock, and sometimes taken the wheel for 5 mins on those drives. thats about all of my off road experience really

3.) mainly i do road trips, and id like to be able to just have the confidence to pull off into the sand for camping and bbqs . right now i just stick close by in the shallow, harder packed sand. also when ive camped at beaches ive often parked away and carried my stuff over so having more experience would allow me to make my life easier for this also. and yeh i would also join some drives and do some easy dune bashing/ driving probably
