  2. Everyone was excellent on this drive! Thanks to @sertac @Luca Palanca Falsini and @Nivin for good leading and to all others having perfect speed with no stuck in the main part of the drive. @Athula Dharmadada hope you can easily fix the radiator problem and back to the sand soon. Even the ending part of the drive was funny for me since it was a good experience for everyone to handle in such a difficult technical area. This was my first time in this track and now it has become one of my favorites. All types of dunes are together here so we were able to play on long dunes as well as challenged with difficult technical dunes in a single drive! I will follow all drives in this area to join! See you all on the next challenge!

  6. Same for me It was the pandemic, lack of options for external activities, inability to travel etc, made me seek out for alternative entertainment. I start in June/July and was my weekly activity and I enjoyed it immensely.

  12. Well done @Frederic. I took my 1st classes for desert driving from you as an absolute newbie and these 2 absolute newbies are really fortunate to join for a newbie drive straight away under your guidance. U are just an awesome teacher and explained everything so clear and loud that it still is the basis for my other drives.

  13. Hi @Salty3Arab and @ZakWarah welcome to Carnity and its offroad club. As we don't have any absolute newbie drive in upcoming weekend so we have reserved two spots in both newbie drives for first timer with Carnity. You both have been added to this drive and I look forward to seeing you both. Please check if both front and rear tow points are available on your vehicle so we can safely recover you when needed. As a first timer with Carnity, please go through this drive topic fully and also watch the Absolute Newbie Briefing. P.S. This is one time preference for absolute newbie as you have joined mid-week. P.S.2 Kindly join the Carnity Drive Notification group for getting the drive notification for future drives, please. Keep an eye on this drive topic the coming days where we will announce the convoy list on Thursday morning. See you both on Saturday !

  16. Dear Gaurav, I joined Carnity today and would like to join your Sharjah drive on the 2nd. I have a 2014 Jeep Wrangler, upgraded in June 2019 with terraflex suspension kit, steel bumper and winch. I have been driving this car in the UAE desert for about 3 years (crossing Wahiba desert, Oman, in stock mode and leading groups of up to 12 through RAK desert and back from Sharjah - Sphinx/Fossil rock area). I appreciate the learning cycle never stops but would appreciate your recommendation and advice for me to join a more advanced group as an outcome of this drive. Kind regards Willem

  17. Thanks @Gaurav for leading us in a wonderful drive that afternoon. Everyone drove wonderfully and it was so scarce of any refusals that we had to look outside our convoy for one. Learnt a lot from that recovery. I have added few snaps in the gallery.

  20. The story of this geyser is different than it looks. We let the car cool down a bit maybe 10-15min. In this time we continuously sprayed water to the radiator. Than we opened the cap. There wasn't any water splashing out. So we start adding water to the radiator. I guess what happened was, since we sprayed to the radiator it cooled down but engine was still hot, so the water we poured went in to the radiator and from there it went in to the engine. When it reached to the hot engine it started boiling and got sprayed out.

  25. @Ahab Shamaa I found it tricky getting true independent advice here in UAE as the few garages I visited were licensed to sell certain brands and therefore were biased to those. That’s one of the challenges in our market in that exclusive rights (subsidized stock) limit true independent garages so us giving true reviews can be a massive help! I am like @topgear on stock suspension and it’s been great as I am learning on these so any future upgrade I will really be in a position to appreciate the improvements. OME 51’s had a great and easy manual adjustment so within a minute you could move to softer rebound so Sat-Thursday we would have a really nice ride on the road and then a quick adjustment to firm things up and be ready for the desert. That said (I understand but need to confirm) the shocks cannot be rebuilt ... they have a 3 year warranty which helps but need to read up on >3 years what’s needed. Beauty of others like King/Fox etc is you can get them rebuilt and effectively like new annually/whenever so a bit more research to do for sure! In the new year I will start up that show and tell thread if others haven’t and do a bit of detective work to find out who on our drive had the OME 51s to encourage a quick review for our benefit we need to find something to talk about right... our cars are not breaking down that often so our community looks silent 🀣 ...
