Dear Desertnauts. Just a quick few words about what's to come this Friday. As mentioned in the drive's post, the goal is to show that Qudra, the place usually chosen because of the possibility to enjoy its low dunes at sunset, and its lakes for picnics, our usual introductory ground to off-roading, has several surprises to offer, even for the more advanced drivers. Most of the itinerary, surely the first part, will be the same as the one we use for the Absolute Newbie drives. The differences, here, will be the speed and the skills we'll adopt: faster, and including criss-crossing and ridge riding. With the goal of completing the AN drive in a much shorter time, what will be left of our planned 3 or so hours, will still be driven in challenging terrain, likely to the south of the bike track, close to the pylons, and possibly all the way to Solar Park, or even beyond it. Welcome to @Paolo Pellegrini, @Sunil Mathew, @Chinthaka Ruwan, @Tareck, @Ben84, @Chris Wing, @luis mantecon, @TT_Dubai, @Alfred Alinazar and @JeromeFJ. I am good to travel with PCR result reflecting properly, all set, waiting to see you all.

I am always intrigued by @Lorenzo Candelpergher speed to call him admiringly flying Lorenzo. The continuous ridge riding and criss crossing kept us over alert. I was glad to be # 3 on the convoy behind @Gok Krish who was superbly tailing the lead. What was surprisingly to have @Wrangeld a Marshall behind me as #4 an added pleasant pressure to ensure that I do not commit any mistakes. At times the sands loosened up and one has to re attempt the climb, earlier I used to use brute strength and high momentum during my Pajero days, now with my new FJ it it becomes easier also with experience resign to the fact that there is no loss of face if one attempts again as long as the driver behind you is alerted. Everyone in the driver pitched in to make this a high paced drive.

Good morning! I have lots of experience as a passenger in Liwa dunes and drove a bit there before with my partner who is pretty experiences. I did a desert driving night class with Asif last week, which I loved and encouraged me to join the group! I have a Mitsubishi Pajero 2011, but my low range gear is not working so can I still come on the drive? I also don't have a radio yet... but I can get one today, as well as a flag. I have a compressor etc.

My 3.8 pajero already sounds like supersonic ✈️…..

Good afternoon fellow adventurers, Tomorrow afternoon's drive will see us venture into the deep red sands of Mahafiz where we shall scout around and find play area after play area after play area as we make our way to Fossil Rock. It promises so much! But what we do and where we get to all depends on the convoy so , we shall see. The forecast is predicting a cool 39degsC and as we make our way through the sands it will continue to drop That said, it is imperative that you keep an eye on your dials and bring plenty of fluids to sustain you. Indeed...more we did the better it got. What I learnt 1) do not over speed on crest and lose control 2) when climbing slip face to reach top of crest with speed to make the climb, make sure to let go gas at the right time to limit speed when reaching to top of the crest. What follows is good horse riding fun and the car also loved doing it! I took loads of sand from the underside and the radiator fins with a garden hose post the ride.

Very nice video @Gok Krish, it really gives a good sense of what the drive was all about: riding ridges/crests. For sure repeating this over and over again eventually helps polishing your driving skills. I think the most interesting challenge yesterday was the continuous criss crossing required to stay on top of the crest with two wheels on one side and two on the other side adjusting the side based on the curvature of the crest. Another challenging drive, very well managed!

@GauravSoniif you have taken the vaccine 28 days prior once you take a pcr you will get a 'e' on you al horn app which will allow you to pass the border for 7 days from the pcr test result- the green will not particularly help you but look for the e on the left had side of the vaccination status on the app. I travel to abu dhabi almost every week. hope it helps and if you need more info pls call/ text me on 050 4500597.

I felt a good difference post changing the fuel pump, but not a game changer. the mechanic says it might be one of the gear output chips, but to be honest i am not sure.However, this is not the reason as i will ship the car to Jordan today where i will spend 5 weeks driving around the country northern mountains and southern desert (Wadi Rum). if you are planning to come along give me a buzz

I'm getting my PCR test today afternoon, hope to receive result by Thursday afternoon and be valid till Saturday. I have got my second vaccine dose in march, but al hons says first dose in march. Kind of lost with how al hosn app count or gather data.

Amazing drive on Saturday morning @Lorenzo Candelpergher! It was a true intermediate level drive through and through. The terrain was amazing, the drivers were strong and the camaraderie was fantastic. The support team was extremely helpful and ever watchful. The trails and ascents were challenging and exciting. Engines roared, faces smiled, and we went on to enjoy a beautiful drive. As to which drive was better, the Extreme or the Intermediate one, it's impossible to answer. Each drive was great in its own right. This was my kind of weekend! Two fast paced, action packed drives 😂 A general comment from our Saturday drive; as our skill level increases, we tend to get more relaxed and confident. I'd like to remind my fellow drivers to still watch your speed, fishtailing and following distance... These principles still apply on all the drives See you all on the sand real soon!

@GoutamBesides what others mentioned, Two things to consider are the tire pressure and the momentum: The size of the foot is heavily impacted by the tire pressure. The other thing is to maintain the momentum. Sudden accelerations also impact the grip and can cause the car to lose the tail. I have a technique to keep a steady acceleration by pressing my right foot against the right wall of the cockpit. I think that you handled very well and it never happened at risky moments, but it is something to pay attention (what I would call at work "an improvement opportunity").

If its a bumpy wear then for sure the shocks or springs are faulty
