Just wanted to share this with the group....😀😀 on a drive this morning, (I shall share the track) we found a second yellow truck. Looks like it has been here only a few months. Maybe something for Carnity in a next drive.

Post Drive Report Liwa Yellow Truck What a day! Any Yellow Truck drive is an accomplishment that cannot be under estimated. Control, concentration, composure and guts are needed to cope with this as a first time drive - moreso, when your lead has only been there once before and that as 18 months before. This was a Rock Solid Crew day: Everyone on this convoy was fantastic, throughout. @Pacific your 2nd lead was impeccable. Adjusting and leading the convoy away from the moments where I got stuck (two in particular were excellent). I really appreciate the support that you brought to the front of the convoy. @Niki having your calm, encouraging, insightful support MUST have made every recovery easier for the few times it was needed. Your driving was immense, taking everything in your stride and apparently enjoying every second. Your energy incredible and infectious. @Jeepie Is the inly one who knows quite how terrified I was of heights (well to be accurate, it's not the heights it's the rapid deceleration on landing that scares me, the falling but is OK). Not only is it a pleasure to know you're there on a drive supporting and keeping everything tidy, but sharing the experience (albeit in different cars) was fantastic. The convoy @Vaibhav, we are waiting for the photos and the drone video, @Waqas Parvez you proved why the promotion you requested was justified - in spades - @Daniel Rodas 2nd drive in 2 weeks and I really want to see more of what you can do, @AlexM strong, quite silent, but deadly effective. Bottom line, you were brilliant. Managing to get to and from Yellow Truck without more than a few refusals among the convoy cannot be underestimated. You don't get there and back without having had to drive through numerous challenges and obstacles. As I think was explained by Pacific, this was an intermediate drive in terms of challenges, driven at fewbie speed. As an exploration drive, I think that we covered as much of the Liwa experience as possible. Massive climbs, making Faya look miniscule, massive descents, dwarfing Fossil Rock, some play in bowls (but not much, admittedly), and high technical sections. For me, the challenge was overcoming my fear of heights - yes, the Liwa lead, where the drive is all about massive descents has a problem with that - but your patience and trust in my leadership got me through, and we all got through safely, carefully and with having had a challenging long day out. I factored in much more recovery time in my drive plan - which in the end we did not need, so had the pleasure of exiting in daylight and people being able to return home while it was still light. Maybe next time out, we can go and play more on the bowls and have more aggressive challenges, but by then you are already an old hand in Liwa. And you can say what a lot of people cannot: you made it to Yellow Truck, and out. Thanks for everything guys. I am really proud that I got to share my first proper Liwa lead with you. Hi off-roaders, It was a long awaited day for me to make it to LIWA and was excited as LIWA is a destination every off-roader in uae would want to try. From the signups, it was clear that the faces are gonna be familiar and expected to have a good time with @Gaurav and other buddies in the convoy. Me and @Rizwan M. reached the meeting point at 3.30 AM and took a nap in the car . Early in the morning itself i could see the people preparing their car, strapping the bags and belongings and getting ready to hit the mighty desert in LIWA. We had 15 cars in our convoy, every one with an adrenaline rush and after briefing we started to move in through the sand track. My assumptions about LIWA was that the topography might remain the same all over UAE, but with bigger dunes and massive bowls. But in contrast i was surprised by the nature and formation of the dunes, super soft sands and very tricky and stay away kind of ridges...it was a treat for the eyes and enjoyed maneuvering . After few minutes of drive through relatively less complicated areas, we had an opportunity to experience the sharp and really long drops which literally gave a feel of driving in a sand stream flowing down and soon after we were taken to a bowl where we started our adventure.As discussed and decided in advance I was all prepared and studied the route to lead part of the convoy.. but kept as a surprise which @Gaurav.wanted to unfold during the drive. After deciding up on the convoy and the radio channel our convoy with @Ranjan Das as 2nd lead and @PaoloMaraziti, @Rawad, @Ashok chaturvedi, @Thomas Varghese and @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil as sweep, started our drive, heading towards the yellow truck. It was a superb experience making our way through super soft patches and some moderate dunes and bowls. After around 40 minutes of drive we came across the worst nightmare of an off-roader when @PaoloMarazitigot deviated from the track and ended up getting stuck on the slip face of bigger dune. Me and @Ranjan Das were through and were on the other side of the dune, when @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil informed us about the situation. We back tracked and reached the spot and were speech less for a while😳..After discussing with @Ranjan Dasand @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil, we decided to secure the car with a rope in front and winch at the back. Mean while the engine started releasing white smoke and we asked @PaoloMarazitito switch off the engine. After securing the car from above with a rope and a winch and clearing the sand wall from the side we tried to start the car but failed. The only way in front of us was to give a slight movement for the car front ways by a gentle pull. As decided we asked @Rawad to position himself at the right angle to give a gentle pull and every thing went as planned. While executing the recovery plan.. @Rawadcar- Y62 slipped down when giving the pull resulting in the most unfortunate event of the drive. @PaoloMaraziti car flipped side ways pulling down the cars on top slightly down. We rushed to @PaoloMaraziti to check if he is fine and found him safe. Our priority was to get him out from the car and asked him if he could stand up and try to come out. But to our surprise he was hesitant to move and chose to wait for the senior convoy to come. We were under tremendous pressure and worried about Paolo being inside the car and @Rawadand @Alain Canivet-Abikhalilkept on watching @PaoloMaraziti from outside to make sure everything is ok with him. We informed the senior convoy about the situation and they were around 10-15 km ( i believe) away and to our relief they took the best possible route to reach the scene in 30 minutes and @Gaurav took over the recovery. Thanks to every one else in the convoy for your tolerance and support and thanks to @Ranjan Das, @Alain Canivet-Abikhaliland @Rawad for your most valuable support when needed ,,,keep it up guys.Thanks you @Gaurav for the opportunity to take over a part of your convoy and for your presence when needed the most. Thanks to @Rizwan M., @Mario Cornejo, @Ruan van den Heever, @Arman, @JeromeFJand @varunmehndiratta for the support and help. Dear Desertnauts Last bits of info for tomorrow's drive. The meeting point will be to the left of the tarmac road from Qudra's Last Exit to Solar Park. We will gather on the left of the tarmac (watch out for oncoming traffic), and will line up below the pylons. Once arrived, please start deflating, and tune into Carnity radio channel #2 (446.036). We will decide if we'll turn left, toward Lisaili, or right, toward Qudra, tomorrow morning. Let's keep some of the mystery 😉.Therefore, also the convoy order will be unveiled tomorrow morning. Congrats @M.Seidam. You deserve it. Never forgotten your words "WELL DONE THOMAS" when I was sideslopping on a drive under @Chaitanya D's lead. Till that time I was not sure of my abilities in off roading and was apprehensive after so many refusals and stucks. Your kind words kept me going on and here I'm at IM level with 85 drives under my belt. I have made it a practice on every drive when I see someone doing good to say well done. Who knows he or she may get inspired by those words and become a better off roader. See you soon in the sands under one of the drives under your lead.

Post Drive Report Liwa YT #2 Waking up inside my condensation filled tent on Thursday morning I was filled with a little trepidation of the drive and day to come on what would be my 2nd lead into Liwa in search of the Yellow Truck. I should not have worried. With a fantastic convoy and support, we completed the drive in less time than I expected and without incident - a blessing for all, as it meant that the day was not extended to the point where drivers are too tired to continue to concentrate, and we had such wonderful smooth running that the people on this convoy are probably asking 'what's all the fuss about?'. My first call out is going to the amazing support team. First on what list is @Thomas Varghese. I asked Thomas to play the role as sweep for the day. He has massive experience, so I knew his drive ability already. What I saw was a fantastically supportive, balanced and enthusiastic support throughout the day. We benefitted from the fact that at the back of the convoy no-one was left behind, that the drivers at the end knew there was help nearby if anything happened and we did not have a lot of radio chatter so everyone could focus on the task in hand. @Richard Franks has been my 2nd lead before. I knew I could trust him to follow where needed and find another way if required. In these drives that is not the easiest of tasks, but Richard managed to reroute when I came across the recently born camel and her mother and after I had driven into the only impossible to escape from bowl of the day. Other than that, Richard faithfully and expertly led the convoy leaving me to focus on navigating the best possible route forward. While it was not the busiest day for support, @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil demonstrated once again his immense value on a convoy. It leads to a question: Does Alain ever lose his cool? Probably not. Even though he had spent 6 hours in recovery mode the day before, this was also a flawless performance. The rest of the guys on the convoy @Damien Ranjit @ShereenMK @Alphin Aloor @Nabeel Abdul Rahman & @Alexanderrr you were amazing. You were the first Carnity convoy to see the revised Yellow (not so Yellow UAE 50th flag) Truck. Because of the incredible skill you showed, the additional time that I factored in on the drive for refusals and recoveries, was simply not needed.. Never under estimate your achievement in driving this route, through some of the softest sand patches we face, the star shaped technical dunes, climbs to the top of dunes and descents to the bottom as anything other than magnificent. Truly, I was surprised at how quickly we made it through the drive. And, as I say, we could have pushed harder, of course, we could have added a few more climbs and descents, or play bowls: but let's put that into the context of the day. The two other convoys that were from Carnity that left with us both had to return to the start because of mechanical failure of one of their vehicles. Neither made it to the main road before it was dark. You also benefitted from the recce drive I had made the previous day ... because we could increase the pace significantly as I knew where we were headed. For me, it was a perfect 50th Anniversary drive, because I could claim to have gone to one of the iconic UAE 4x4 locations, witness the transformation of the Yellow Truck into the Yellow UAE Flag Truck and still get home to Dubai to enjoy an evening of National Day celebrations. You can't ask for more than that. See you soon in the sand.

Thank you Richard @Wrangeld for your kind words of appreciation. Under your lead we achieved what we came for to LIWA all the way from Dubai. Kudos to all the drivers in the convoy. Most of them were new faces to me but they all drove well. Everyone stuck to the instructions of the Marshal and everyone made it to Yellow Truck & back. As Richard explained to us at the end of the drive we have come here to see the Yellow Truck and we did that without a single mishap. Great lead and great planning from the Desert Champ @Wrangeld. It would have been a disaster getting a malfunction in a car so far inside the desert and Richard made sure we stuck to our goal even though the temptations were plenty. Not even one passenger complained of motion sickness or any discomfort. The credit goes to only Richard for the careful selection of tracks. The beauty of the landscape was stunning and I have shared some pictures in the gallery. The best picture I liked is of the Marshal itself.

I missed the Yellow / UAE truck the day before, and I would have been sad if after 2 nights in a cold, condensation filled tent I didn't get to see it. Allow me to point out you were the only Marshal to make it twice to YT 👏👏👏 It is always a pleasure and a source of great learning to drive with you, and I was happy I didn't have much support to do - it allowed me to enjoy the ride, the majestic scenery and to take in the performance we achieved. I have to thank the convoy for that :) @Richard Franks always nice to see you and perfect 2nd lead. @Thomas Varghese that was the 3rd adventure in 3 days together and perfect attention at the back. @Damien Ranjit @ShereenMK @Alphin Aloor @Nabeel Abdul Rahman & @Alexanderrr you made a beautiful and well driven convoy !
