If you see a nice area that is not too crowded, just save it as a waypoint in your GPS to visit later with friends. Focus on finding something that is not too deep inside the desert (in case you have friends without offroading experience), close to an exit track, and not an area where you would be constantly disturbed by cars zooming around.

I totally agree with Charlie, Toyota's are the last car to overheat, even in peak summers. And in case it does, try to troubleshoot the actual cause of the issue than just strapping coolers based on off-road garage advice. Tranny coolers and fans are really helpful, no doubt but in some cases, they act counter-productive to block a lot of air passage for radiators. So after installing a HUGE tranny cooler you might run cooler A/T oil but the radiator will overheat the car temperature. Bottom line, follow the steps to really nail the issue (when it appears): Fix the stock component if overheats. Add additional fan on existing cooler if it doesn't have one, common issue with many manufacturers. Use a slightly longer or taller tranny cooler and not double the size, as it will block more air passage for the radiator. If A/T light comes in peak summer on cross-tracks or self-recovery for a few seconds and goes away when you start moving, then don't bother much as when air circulation is so less in peak summer this is quite normal and not a flaw. If A/T light comes during the normal off-road driving conditions, then it's a concern and some of the action is needed.

Hi all, Been a few conversations across various threads and on the drives so thought I would write a dedicated post and encourage others to share their photos also. In my personal opinion, the front bumper skirts need to be removed straight after your absolute newbie. While some have got through Newbie levels without issues, myself and others have not! For front bumper cut, I did after some research and understanding that this was the most susceptible area for damage if approaching or coming down at angles other than "straight ahead". I did this ready for Fewbie and it gave me great confidence and removed any damage worry from my mind. Note: to cover the holes, I suggest to go shopping on amazon and search "bumper retainer clips" and take your pick! Alternatively, find me on a drive, I've got loads now 🤣 Mine is GXR/VXR Prado 150 2014-2017 model year Below is the "Before Removal" Here is the "After removal" For Bumper Cutting, below are some photos

Thought I would update for future viewers of this post. bashplate: definitely worthwhile and in my opinion needed on prado as you progress. The first time you hit it, you feel relief you got it rather than panic about what damage has been done. bumper: removal of any skirts/extra bumper bits. I got the side of bumper cut, after catching it once or twice. 2014>2017 model has quite low bumper at the sides! This was the cheapest and best mod done as it gave me confidence to pick up the speed and not worry about damage when approaching/departing dunes at at angle! Tyres: just got some AT tyres after fewbie no6! Will report back on these in a few more weeks!

OMG 11 drivers waiting anxiously in the wait list. Though I love @Shaaz Sha's drive I left it this week for this reason. I have done 7 drives with Shaaz in a row and love everyone of those drives irrespective of their levels. It is better Shaaz post another drive same day afternoon so that the drivers in the waitlist won't be disappointed. If that's fine with Shaaz I will join the convoy after my morning drive.
