Rush Hour: Again - Drive Report "Whether one moves slowly or with speed, The one who is a seeker will be a finder" - Rumi Surely each driver set out seeking something, with this Friday afternoon drive. Relief from the working week's pressure, excitement to start the weekend, distraction from the routine of professional or family life, simply enjoying nature and the open spaces. Whatever each was seeking, surely we found it moving fast. The drive started at the exit point of the previous edition, on Faqa's sabkha, and proceeded in reverse, toward Solar Park, via the southern region of the Faqa plateau, through a couple of technical areas separated by grass carpeted sabkhas, across "Little Sweihan", and finally north toward the planned exit. As announced, we did find a very soft step of sand on top of the ridges, being partially rearranged into almost a "dome" shaped obstacle by the changing winds (this time returning to their prevailing north-west to south-east direction). However, contrarily to my expectations, the new shape of the ridges did allow some approaches from the hard-faces, which we made mostly in the first part of the drive, yet most of the drive saw the convoy cross from the slip-face, as planned. The main differences from the first edition of Rush Hour were not only the reverse direction, but also the length of the convoy, 2 cars longer than the previous one. This factor, summed with the hinderance of the soft ridges, gave us a few more challenges, which resulted in a couple of stucks on ridges, and a couple more refusals then the perfect first edition. However, since all drivers were at the top of their skills, and the convoy managed to move at an amazing speed, we also did stop for a refreshment and a stretch a couple of times (for a total stoppage time of 18 minutes, all things considered), Vs. the no stop drive we did the first time (only 1 minute of stoppage time). This "excess' of confidence, caused us to miss the 60 kilometers target by just 1 Km, while allowed us to beat the speed record by 1 Km/hr. Very good Second Lead by @Waqas Parvez, followed skillfully and fearlessly by @Ahmad Shaker (welcome to Fewbie Plus), then @Gregory, @Tom B, @Fabien Monleau, @ASAD., @Charbel, @topgear and @MMansoor, all moving with considerable speed, even more remarkably due to the long wheel base of each of their cars. Great support provided by @Pacific in the middle, and @Looper in the Sweep. After the clock stopped us at the 2 hour mark (of which 1:42 moving), with 59Km driven, at an average moving speed of 34 Km/h (29 Km/h total), the day ended with an extension, until dusk, for another 20 Km, covered in 37 minutes, from the outskirts of Solar Park all the way to the Bab al Shams exit track. @Islam Soliman thank you for another great drive. This time in Abu Dhabi which is quite different to the sands of Dubai. i will definitely remind the wife not to ask for any surprises next time we drive as i think we had a few today lol appreciate you giving me the chance to use the new jack lol great support in the sweep position from @munkybizness always a pleasure driving with you. the rest of the team were just that a great team. you guys made a good drive great @Naveen Raj @Jorge Stepniak Felippe @Xavier Treasurer @Humayun Ghias @Werno @Arda Yagcioglu thank again. Sweihan Drives are back!! It was a perfect morning, with some nice cold weather, brilliant drivers and a beautiful terrain. Big appaluse to all the drivers @Hasan Wahlan @Santoso Marjuki@Aisha S @Chris Wing @Tom B @Fabien Monleau @Karthikeyan Govindarajan @Josh T.for driving exceptionally well and keeping a brisk pace thought out the drive. Also, thanks to everyone for helping refix my car's radiator hose With Sweihan terrian looking so good, I look forward to more adventures with you all in that sandbox. Amazing drive and beautiful terrain. Weather was windy, sunny and we managed to witness the transition into dusk as we wind down the drive to exit after 2 hours of nonstop excitement. Thanks @Ale Vallecchi for putting this together and support team @Pacific and @Looper and the rest of the great convoy. Very high standard with minimum issues i had fun following @ASAD. and thanks for your recommendation

Thank you @Islam Soliman, @Looper and @Alfred Alinazar for another great drive. Drive description lived up to its reputation. I was able to use my shovel for the first time to help out a fellow driver. Good radio comms helped drivers next up with what to expect helped a lot in certain spots and made it safer knowing the other side was clear. Have a great week ahead.

@Srikumar thank you for an amazing drive this morning. Even though I had to bow out slightly early, the drive was still amazing! Found myself needing to push hard in areas, but all good for building up one’s confidence and skill levels. I definitely will be returning to Sweihan as soon as another drive is posted. @Chris Wing and @Josh T., thanks for performing CF and sweep duties today. Great support. And to the rest of the convoy, apologies for causing a small break in your drive time and having to get me out. Fortunately I managed to get myself home and now have an excuse to change out my stock hydraulic suspension for a set of kings!!

Think about bid grip We had two Pop Outs and when we had almost got them back, they had to be replaced! So gained some experience on fixing pop outs and changing tyres. We enjoyed the drive!

Folks in the front, I coudn't see much of you, but judging for the pace we had, you did fantastics as we had to catch up few times. What a fun drive! Thanks to @Kailas for choosing to push the 'Newbie' drive to (ahem...) higher goals lol What a tug, stuck, pop out, refusal fest it was, I think I came out as tugmaster general for the day with 3? This course was certainly a challenge to newbies, let alone to newbies with giant cars. @Kaleem Ur Rahmandon't lose heart brother, you will gain confidence as you gain experience and it will even become fun, trust me on this one! My elderly father in law had a hoot and was amazed at what we do for fun. Thanks to @Looperand @Imteeazfor handling the mid and tail crises, I hope you had fun. To the rest of the crew, great spirit guys, no matter how many times we stopped, there were no complaints and nothing but big beaming smiles from all. Thank you all and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Thanks Gaurav. I appreciate the compliment. Most of the work before was done by me. For this part I decided to trust a new garage . My only job this time was to pay and then do my best not to annoy them with messages of how it was going all day. I hope to have it back in the desert soon. As you know I spent lots of time and money to have it almost as reliable as new for my previous drives. With the addition of so many new parts, hoses, fuel lines, belts, and tuning It may be a little while before I am confident to bring it out. It will see the sand again but I will go through everything like before to minimize the risk as much as possible for messing up a drive with break down .

@Carnity Dear friends I would like to share with you my experience in how came about and how I got my self out from what you are about to read below. Just for the one who doesn’t know me I tell you that the only place where I am super vigilant is the desert 🌵 and all my solo trips with my little one or family for a slide or quick ride had never in a time was free of one refusal here or one simple stuck there or even passing by stuck people needed help and always we got away luckily with it . .. this time no little one was with me “luckily” and I was totally alone ! Monday morning ,after a long weekend stuck in the hospital operating , I decided after I dropped the kids to school to take a detour toward Qudra my backyard my favourite and still it is 😄 for a quick spin looping most of its boarders north to south and west to east along, but this loop was meant to be completed on foot and not by car. Parallel with the pylon track and just two dunes to navigate to get to the sabkha from where I can cut short half the pylon to exit I got bogged sideway in a super soft sand when i knew i cannot make it without severely fight gravity and I came like that 👇 It was almost 9:30 am . Got down to see from all angles and surrounding. I managed to slide the car step by step ( clearing the sand walls / sliding down sequence ) and I knew that there will be a pocket waiting fro me down that I needed to take all my skills and judgment to navigate away from it tell I realised that I got a pop out of my left front tire . At this moment it was time to leave after I called my wife and my friend @Chaitanya D telling them that I am leaving my car . saving the location and after that I abounded my Xterra it was 12:30 pm almost when I left my car and within 10 min climbing few dunes I was on foot standing on the pylon track . Luckily I got a lift by one passing car to the Main Street where I got a cap to my home ….later in the evening I went back to the car with my friend Dr Chaitanya @Chaitanya D to have a look and just to realize both of us that the daylight has better and safer eyes . Thank you a ton my friend for taking all the effort and risk in the dark but most important we got back home unhurt. next day I informed Carnity seniors about the story and on Wednesday 3 pm a group lead by @Gaurav we met my self , @Hisham Masaad @Shaaz Sha @Gaurav Soni and Abdulghani ( son of Hisham ) whom they picked me up from my home place ( thank you for that 🙏🙏) and reached where my stuck car was to start an extreme recovery that ended successfully with no complications . I wish if I have a better word of sincere thank you to all of you to say it 🙏 i will leave you watch the clips for the process how we recovered the car which is better than any words Learning points 1. No matter how experience you are with all the skills and gadgets you have, unforeseen simple soft dune can turn your day upside down . I was lucky that I had half turn 😅. please don’t venture on your own is the best idea . 2. The day light has better eyes where all resources can be available. 3. Keeping cool nerves like ice when you face your self against Mother Nature and hopefully what I did was the right time in the right place ( don’t deepen in the middle of nowhere if deemed necessary solo ) 4. Analyzing the situation and giving proper feedback as accurate as possible before coming to the recovery zone. 5. Together you can do what seems impossible to be done . 6. Knowledge is power . technically I just learned that pulling the car against gravity utilizing the snatch block is so amazing. 7.it’s all about team work what bring solutions into reality .
