Dear Desert Drivers, The drive of Saturday will an exploration of the northern part of Sharjah, up to Ras el Khaimah. If you have not yet been in this area, you will see that the desert is all but monotonous and empty. We will see different landscapes, different vegetation, camels and other wildlife, remote farms and small desert towns, with the view of the mountains in the background. Don't expect looping high dunes at full speed, it will be a crossing between the two Emirates, We will have portions of nice dunes, and we will use tracks and sabkhas to connect between them. Still all your skills and capabilities will be required as we will have to cross some high dune portions, the sand will be very soft in places, and we will have to keep the pace to cover the distance. @Richard Franks @Suresh K @Alfred Alinazar@Haitham Khattab @JERINE_B @Pacific @Adam James @Amr Aydin @Gerrit Bus @Indra Ozola @Tareck @Frederic are currently in the drive. I will be finalizing the convoy order tomorrow. Please let me know before 12 noon in case you changed you plans. We have a WL of 4 @Jose Thomas @Senthil Kumar @Ahmed Wagdy @topgear3 points

i seconds this, yes, you can live without rear difflock, probably you will have to sweat out a bit for some shoveling or fixing the rope etc. But if you have a rear difflock its luxury, with a flick of a button you are out of the situation. Also remember there are more situation where having rear difflock or having all the power or all the gadgets is useless and you have to use basic recovery skills to come out of situations. My advice, - Buy a car with good off road capability but learn the basics and master it thoroughly. Good luck with your purchase. π2 points

4.0 Liter Fortuner could be a very good option offering a good balance for road and off-road needs. Except for the slightly excessive front bumper overhang in Fortuner, I don't find any flaw. If that becomes the bottleneck for your future off-road needs, you can lift or replace it with an off-road bumper.2 points

Mehmet, apologies but I will have to drop from this drive due to unexpected business travel. Hope to see you in the dunes again soon.2 points

@eismail @sophiedana and @Alfie Argana Welcome to Carnity Offroad Club ! As a small introduction, kindly inform us about the following: 1) Which 4x4 are you bringing ? 2) Do you have any prior offroad experience ? if so please specify. 3) Is your 4x4 equipped with towpoints at the front and back ? This is mandatory to join our drives. For your first drive, i would request if you can bring the following items: * Pressure gauge * Tyre deflator * Air compressor so you can inflate your tyres after the drive (petrol station is nearby but has a defective compressor). If you have more offroad equipment, you are welcome to bring it along. Do not hesitate to post your questions on this forum. See you on coming Sunday ! @Anirudh Dayma You already completed an Absolute newbie and newbie drive so I request you to sign in for another newbie drive instead of this one. I will remove your name from this drive list.1 point

Thank you for all the amazing feedback! I think it clear the Nissan is out of the picture... Still like the idea of a rear diff... so will need to consider this. Maybe look for a 2nd hand fortuner which has a rear diff.1 point

Dear Sand Sailors Thanks all for RSVPing for the drive. Slots went in quite fast so i am sure you are all looking forward for adrenaline pumping experience that Faqa has to offer. Plan for this drive is simple - we have an entry point and from thereon we will try to climb every high dune that comes our way and ride every nice ridge that we will see. I have no fixed exit.point in mind, we will exit close to where we will be around 9am. And that's the beauty of Faqa we can exit at all four sides of the area. Key is to make the engines roar and try to expand our experience with our ships - and we have some really powerful ones in the convoy this time Just to share Desert Champion and someone who truly needs no introduction at Carnity, Richard @Wrangeld will be joining us for the drive. So let's get our ships ready to explore Faqa. @Paolo Morresi @Paolo Pellegrini @Sergio Big Dawg @Federico Galbieri @FiNaR @FiNaR @Beide Worku @topgear @Mahmoud Taha @Ashok chaturvedi you all are added to the drive. In case of any change of plans, please share it well in time as we have 4 sailors in WL for their first drives of the week. Wait listed @Sam K @Yogesh Chaudhary @Pieter Potgieter @Daniel Rodas Looking forward to see you all on Sunday.1 point
