Welcome to Lisaili for an FB+ level, quite an unusual place to test more of a driver than the machine We will experience the virgin sand of Lisaili technical dunes and sometimes take a breather through the long-range dunes. It will be a mix of all-terrain in one drive, so get ready for a fun-filled and power-pack adventure. Please find your convoy numbering below. DRIVE RSVP IS NOW CLOSED Please find the convoy list for tomorrow. We will be using Channel 2: 446.03125 Mhz Please make sure to bring your radio, shovel, compressor, offroad flag, and pressure gauge / deflator. For the ones joining us for the very first time we can lend you a radio for your first drive. A few notes to make things go a bit smoother: 1. When you arrive at the meeting point, park the cars a bit orderly next to each other. There is ample space but this area can be quite busy with farmer pickup trucks and camels on their way to the race track. Start deflating to 14psi if you have Highway HT tyres, or 12psi if you have All Terrain AT tyres. 2. Please be on time. In our club this usually means arriving 10-15 mins earlier than the mentioned meetup-time so you can deflate your tyres and get the flag installed. That way, by 7AM we would be ready to do the briefing. It might be a bit chilly so bring a sweater or jacket. 3. This drive is perfect to bring family or friends as passengers. We will be driving through the dunes, but we will also make use of existing farm tracks so we have time to relax and they can take some photos of the scenic terrain. We will take at least 2 breaks as well. 4. This drive is not a dune-bashing style drive. I have mentioned this clearly on the drive topic. 5. We will be exiting in Falaj Al Mualla, which is a quiet little town. Have a look around and perhaps try one of the little restaurants in the area. 6. Welcome dune surfers! @ASAD. @Anoop Nair @Haitham Khattab @Zixuan Huang - Charlie @Mario Cornejo @munkybizness to the second edition of the drive in exploring the beautiful terrain of southern Abu Dhabi! We have all seen countless videos of sand junkies with jacked up Cars doing crazy maneuvers on these dunes which as fun as it looks , takes a huge toll on the vehicles, not to mention the sheer power required to do some of them. Our drive plan is to explore as many bowls and climbs while pushing our cars to its max. I intend to soak in the beauty of these dunes and find suitable play areas. you can choose to Carry extra fuel however we will be doing about 60-70k mostly on gear 1&2 (at least for me) See you soon!

Hi Carnity, Has anyone traveled the area in Oman that is in northern UAE? It looked like an interesting area to spend a few days exploring the mountains and coastlines, and would love any feedback/recommendations. My aim is offroading/overlanding style, and camping out of my truck. And, if anyone thinks this sounds like fun and want to join, let me know. I'm aiming to go over the next couple weeks. @Anoop Nair you have to go to Al Quaa Adnoc 946 whatever way you can reach. From there the meeting point is half hour away. Add another 10-15 min for foggy situations.

Hi @Frederic, Sorry for the late response 😅, my name is Rashid Omar 21 years old from Sharjah, I joined @lucas amata few weeks ago to a newbie desert drive and I liked it 😁 so I decided to join. I drive a 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser V6 with front and rear tow points available. Going off road was the first thing I did as soon as I received my driving license 3 years ago 😂. But I self learned everything the hard way plus some YouTube tutorials, so I think I know all the basics. I usually go alone with a few friends, so I don’t take high risks by going deep into the desert. But now that I joined the off road club, I can enjoy and increase the level of adventure 🙃✌️. Hi @Andrei S yes, as we do not have separate Absolute Newbie drives anymore, they are now part of the Newbie drives. You can indeed lend your car to another person, as long as that person is the one who makes a user profile and RSVP's on the drive. We also ask not to swap during the drive itself, as it would become impossible for us to keep track of the drives you have done. Long story short... we track the member itself and their progress in Carnity, not the vehicle.

Hi Fred and all other Carnity Gurus, I saw that some newbie drives accommodate absolute newbies now, which is great. I just wondered if an absolute newbie can attend such a drive in my car with myself as a passenger next time? I understand a subscription will be required, but are there any other requirements/ restrictions? Many thanks, Andrei

Well done @Brett Eicher for taking the initiative to kick-start the Overlanding trips. Hope you guys explore and find something nice and doable for us to follow.

I have done this several years back with friends including overnight camp and BBQ on top of Jabal Alharim.. with multiple stops at interesting view points along the way.. crossing to UAE back from the other side of the trail is not allowed for expats as @munkybiznesssaid so you have to turn back and follow same route through Khasab. P..S. If u are camping on top of Jabal Alharim make sure you have more than enough stuff to keep u warm at night and early morning hours .. it’s freezing cold

@Frederic What a cool experience! And thank you for sharing the location point! I've used Wikiloc a lot as well, fantastic tool. Sometimes people know things that don't show up on it 😅

@munkybizness Thanks for the feedback, and your company would be most welcome! I was looking through google maps, and saw lots of wierd little trails, wadi's and cuts... as you said, I was hoping to find a way linking the north/west and east coasts. I was looking at the map for a khasab-rawdah-dibba route. I did see the check-point you mentioned. wasn't sure how far it extended, and what routes it cut off. A shame, that as expats we are prevented from taking some of these trails, as they look fun. I read that Jebel al Haram peak is off limits, which makes sense, as this is where military facilities are set up... comms towers or radar stuff.

I've done Musandam somewhere in 2018 with Arabic speaking friends. We drove to Khasab port and took our camping gear with us and approached one of the fishermen. He took us to one of the beaches, around here somewhere: https://goo.gl/maps/JfKFSFp9bBhxjEtNA dropped us off, and came to pick us up a 9AM the next morning. We camped at the beach and for the first time ever i saw the phytoplankton in the ocean. It was unforgettable ! I was not able to take a photo but it looked like this:

@Brett Eicher There is a stunning gravel trail that is easily doable with our machines from Khasab through to Jebel al Harim and south all the way to the Wadi Biyah junction. Along the way you'll see little farms and the mountain range being split by the road you're on. The challenge is that this is a one-way path. So once you get to the Wadi Biyah junction, there is a military checkpoint and only the nationals of UAE & Oman (may perhaps be GCC too) can pass through this gate back into Ras Al Khaimah for you to continue to Jebel Jais. As an expat, I need to turn back around and retrace the same track to Khasab from where I need to again use the official land border to cross back into the UAE. One of the ways in which I was thinking about doing it was to enter from the Khasab coastline and return back from the Dibba border. I just need to scope out how to take the Rawdah exit from Biyah west towards Zighy and south down to Dibba. Would love to try and scope this out with you if you're keen.

Hi @Imteeaz, thanks for your appreciation… however this is one thing i NEVER DO! Full throttle while taking sharp turn is the perfect recipe for a Pop out.. you can play with your throttle while doing long Sidey, or a twisting ridge or a climb, BUT while doing sharp turn while coming off a ridge or while getting on a ridge after I climb, I let go of my gas and use momentum to complete the maneuver…

What an amazing drive to end the weekend. @GauravSoni Though it may be your 1st lead in Sweihan, you never hesitated to push all of us to follow your tracks. I have seen so many YouTube vids on off-roading in Sweihan; I believe that now we can post our vids (c/w @Waqas Parvez) to show our speed trails in the desert. Keep it up mate. You were very good at climbing the dunes, and then make these sharps turns while keeping full throttle - I need to work on this technique specially with my Y61. @Waqas Parvez We all need the confident SL to take us safely in and out of the desert - hats off mate. @Amr Aydin Keep up the great drive with the JL. @Haitham Khattab Amazing drive as usual mate @Ashutosh Garg You drove well for your IM drive in Sweihan - you seem to have mastered the Xterra. @ASAD. Solid CF mate; you kept the convoy together and moving at all times @Senthil Kumar JK - no issues at all in the sand @Anoop Nair You really pushed the Jeep for couple of looping you had to do (same like me) @Zed Amazing V8 you have mate - I followed your tracks (at least I tried) all the time (except when i got the pop-out) @Mario Cornejo With the tuned stock Y61, there was no limit as to what you could do in the sand - I enjoy watching you climb those dunes. Other than my pop-out, which now I realise I could have avoided if only I had taken the decision not to try to criss-cross while my car was not keen to do so, I enjoyed the drive led by our superhero@GauravSoni. On a separate note, I will see you guys in the sand after 2 weeks as I will be going for a pilgrimage in KSA. Regards
