DRIVE PLAN Practice makes a person perfect. Remember this drive we did few days ago (9th Sep), posted by @Frederic, where I took a bunch of Jeeps and went to Sweihan. I want to take another stab at it because it can be done better. I missed a waypoint and "Butterfly Effect" kicked in and instead of going to Old Lady Dune as per the original plan, we ended up at Sweihan nice and early. To be honest plan is still very optimistic IMHO, but hey we will still have some fun trying. MEETING POINT: You can park the cars along the entry gate barrier all the way up to the red pin. Beyond the red pin is also possible but the sand is a bit soft there, so be careful. Please make sure to bring your off-road gears, plenty of water, and protection from the sun. Ensure the car is fully topped up with gas. Request every member that joins this drive to go through the information below and strictly follow these guidelines, etiquette, and responsibilities. Leading a desert drive is the most amazing experience to have, where you can combine fun, freedom, creativity, strategic thinking and survival skills all at once. Leaders lead is the drive where selected Advisors will learn to lead under close guidance. Backed with the right techniques, experience and supervision so that you can learn the art of leading with peace of mind without any fear or pressure. You will be learning the basics of leading in the desert in three different sessions: Advance sand reading, plan your lead, plan your exits. Use navigational software for selecting the right course of the path. How to plan and scale the lead and recoveries in the most grueling terrain. In this second session of leaders lead you will be leading with the help of an off-road navigation app or device. You can choose any device or app (motionx, gaia, mytrail etc) and mark these basic points and you will be required to reach anyone a or few of them: Entry and Exit Lisaili Fort Skydive Chimney Mark long range playable dunes Mark pylon tracks, cycle tracks Mark as many sabka, flat track or easy exits in case of emergency Mark fencing or restricted area Mark technical dunes P.S. I will personally check each of your devices to verify and help you further. thank you guys for joining with me for this adventures drive. it was indeed one of a kind drive. due to short and capable drivers i was able to achieve all expectation from this drive. We went on high speed rampage to reach all check points in no time. im impressed with all of your performance through out the drive. specially during technical area, we were able to cover without any issues. we had all challenges thrown at us. couple of stucks, refusals, high dune crests, pop out. but with an amazing team we sort out all of them in a flash. @Abhilash Kottakkal you drove excellent behind me keeping up with speed and precision. @Arun Menon even though you had only few FB level drive experience you drove very well. @Haneef Thayyil thank you for excellent sweep duty. you handled beast of a Y62 as champ. Btw im planning for another thorough practice session next week for confirmed members. im more than happy to welcome you guys to my team please let me know if you are interested. until next time have a nice week ahead. ๐2 points

Was pretty easy in the end, still need to relocate the parking sensors to the bumper, found if you unplug them the alarm goes off every time you put it in reverse, but if you leave them plugged in and taped together so the sensor are hard up against each other the alarm stops and the others still work ๐ nearly 11kg of weight removed from the rear door ๐ณ2 points

Thanks you for leading us through a nice and interesting Newbie drive @Vanessa8580....and that too without any stucks or major refusals.. Being my debut "official" support drive , i could get away without any shovel time/rope time/jack time etc thanks to the route chosen, the compact sand due to recent rains and off course, exceptional driving by the whole convoy, especially the newbies !!! Driving at the centre, i could see everyone doing a great job, handling their cars starting with @Nathan doing great at 2L , giving timely terrain warnings to everyone๐ @Mahmut SARILI - looks like your offroad experience in Oman is evident and you were not having any issue following the convoy ๐..please get a radio for the next drive, which is really important @Robkalso had an uneventful drive with his gladiator ๐ followed by @Abdulla Alkhemeiri in his Tundra handling it very well in most places, with occasional minor fishtailing on some of those side slopes, which should be easily ironed out with more practise ๐ Two drivers , i could see very clearly were @Osama M in his QX80 - you handled the car beautifully today and had good control on straight crossings. One concern, as we discussed is very low clearance between your rear wheel and wheel arch. I initially thought you were carrying some kind of heavy overlanding gear, but turns out its the hydraulic suspension. It leaves very little suspension travel , and for higher level drives it is a cause of concern, especially when driving through cross tracks, i am sure you will hit your bump stops continuously . You might want to give it a thought when you sign up for higher level/faster drives. ๐ @Mostafa Nasef did great for most part of the drive, but needs a bit of polishing in your straight crossing skills. As we discussed, you let go of the gas too soon and tend to end up right on the top of the dune crest , almost bellied. I can see its only your 4th drive, and perfectly understandable. That feeling when you climb up and see only the sky when you reach the top - we have all gone through it, so take your time, drive more, get accustomed to it and find the right amount of gas just to get you through it and not fly off or end up crested. ๐ @lucas amat driving right behind me , had me amazed for most part of the drive, having absolutely no problem in driving through those churned, caked sand with his Jeep liberty. At many places, i really expected a refusal announcement from you . Dont forget to get your flag sorted before the next drive Everyone behind Lucas - i could not see much of you but being the fewbie lot in a newbie drive, you were driving at the tail end on all the churned sand , and having a couple of refusals is part of the game. Good to meet you all - @Mahesh_ @Martin M @Jeevan Koshy @SamBha - came in a little late and exited early due to his fuel guage issue(hope it gets sorted soon) , @Faraz94 - at the risk of sounding cliched - you've got a really interesting/unusual car bro !! @Ben Williams closing the convoy was our truck marshal - @Islam Soliman - good to see you back after a while, and looks like your car is up for the game now...i am sure our fewbies and newbies learnt a thing or too from all your guidances and instructions!! See you all soon in our next sand visit !! A few photos in the gallery https://carnity.com/gallery/category/1866-newbie-lisaili-dubai-28-oct-2023/1 point
