I clearly asked the spare part shop that I am looking for fan which pushes air on condenser.  I will get this replaced. How to check if the replaced fan is pusher or puller?

Google code and check on spal or amazon site it clearly says puller / pusher / with CFM

    1 minute ago, RohanH said:

Please suggest is there anything else can be done for A/T oil cooler.

Adding fan is the best, but its down and due to its weird location its not very easy to add fan. You can increase the air ventilation by moving that cooler little up, right behind the front grill.

@Shiju Manuel here is my fan current setup

    Additional 10 Inch Spal Fan - Pusher - 844 CFM (va11ap7/c-57s)

    Next to AC Condenser fan

    WhatsApp Image 2020-07-26 at 2.01.02 PM.jpeg

    9 Inch Engine Oil Cooler

    WhatsApp Image 2020-07-26 at 2.01.30 PM.jpeg

Failed experiment, to replace the Pajero stock AC Condensor (12 Inch) fan is a paddle blade that throws more air than 12 Inch Spal, pusher - 938 CFM (va10-ap10/c-61s). So revert to stock, after this failed experiment.

I tried all these numbers with @Frederic Anemometer and settle with stock AC condenser fan + one 10 Inch fan.

Hi @Gaurav could you pls advice a suitable fan brand for this above purpose.

If any one have already done this, pls mention the detail of you have been using and its performance will be highly appreciated.

Check the existing space first in your model of Pajero on left side of AC condenser fan.

Then check available Spal fan models for 10 or 12 inch with maximum cfm.

Once you get the fan, buy the harness, relay and switch too, so that any good electrician in Ajman can fix that fan for you. While fixing that fan, insist on metal bracket as some lazy mechanic tie these with cable ties even.

If you get all these by yourself, its better than going to big branded workshop who "TALKS" too much and then fit 100 dhs useless fan for the cost of 500 dhs. This happen with me in my old off-road friend workshop, where they quoted me for HIGH PERFORMANCE, Special  Motor fan and eventually fix 600 cfm, 9 inch fan (120 aed), that made no difference in anything.

    VA10-AP10/C-61A 12V

This is the code on the fan which I bought.

This fan is a puller fan, but with just 12 inch of size as oppose to 16 inch radiator clutch fan (existing). If you kill your radiator fan and install this, your Pajero will overheat even more.

This 12 inch shows 909 cfm, and your 16 inch is delivering from 600 - 3,000 cfm when fully engage at 3k RPM.

You cannot use this fan as a condenser fan too as its a puller and not pusher fan.

    1. So if you plan to """""REPLACE"""""" radiator clutch fan with electric fan buy HIGH PERFORMANCE 16 Inch fan, with at least 2,000 and above CFM. Even better with speed controller, to have variable speed as per coolant temperature.

    2. If you plan to add additional AC condenser fan to have better AC cooling in stand still traffic + marginal engine cooling while offroading then you need to exchange this fan from puller to pusher. Add next to existing AC condenser fan as in Pajero there is a space for additional 10 - 12 inch size (please check the space, before ordering.

    3. HOWEVER, by adding this fan your engine oil cooler (in front of AC condenser) and

    4. A/T oil cooler (below AC condenser) still have no change in temperature.

    Hi everyone,

It seems from @Gaurav post that the drive was awesome, However, how much I wished to be part of the convoy and enjoying the off-road journey as well but unfortunately, I have been eliminated due to non-compliance of the rear tow hook hitch of my RAM, so next time I shall get all gear ready for the lovely adventure.

    See you soon,

I fully understand your feelings, but please go through below roles and responsibilities and also watch the video that shows what happens when tow point fails.

You need rated and good brand hitch hook for your Dodge Ram. Something like this.

    https://www.aceuae.com/en-AE/bushranger-recovery-hitch-hooks-with-shackle-silver/285633.html

@Denizzalbayrak bought one too recently for his trailblazer, maybe he can share some points.

Thank you @Gaurav & @Frederic for the well-rounded perspectives! Having a quick look at Dubizzle, I see some good options for Prado but mostly from used cars dealers. And some are even retro-fitted with touch screen navigation systems. Ok to consider those?

Private owner/sellers are always recommended against the dealers, as most car dealers always have some extra cooking behind the scene to hide or eliminate bad traces or incomplete service history.

For buying vehicle, you should have little bit of patience and test out few cars to really compare apple to apple, but for surely this little efforts will pay you off multi-fold in the future.

If you are in super rush, buy from reputed dealers (which will be tad expensive) and make sure to insist to see the service history photos first before visiting them. As dealers will always nod head for service history but only 10% cars will have "GENUINE" service history. So don't waste your time with 90% dealers who just say yes to service history and unable to show you the proof.

For service history, if they can show you the breakdown, then that's highly preferable, but usually dealer stamp on service book is more than enough for initial visit. If you are serious in buying then you can ask them to fetch a detailed report from dealer to verify the actual past of that car.

And run away from cars that has Enoc / Emarat / Adnoc service stickers as oil change is not a service history. And if owner was cutting corner for such expense then many other aspects must have been ignored too. And that defer maintenance will be very expensive and potentially unsafe for you as a new buyer.

  12. Mitsubishi parts are the most expensive among Japanese brands but it will also outlast accordingly.

So if you are fine with limited offroad capability (not great) and happy to accept limited resale value then Yes Montero is a safer bet.

For lowering year to 2016 for Prado is actually better to eliminate first 3 years exorbitant resale drop. And if you go in those lines then do research how much they have been changed in tech from 2016 - 2018 model. I bet none, as Toyota is so slow to add new features unless they have tested 1000% in all continents unlike Germans.

Btw, Prado are more comfier, spacious than FJC and holds resale value - The Best.

yes exactly. if @Bhaskar is not into hardcore offroad or dune bashing, this is really good deal.

but 1 small thing to consider is poor resale value compared to Toyota, But better than Jeep i guess.

Very wisely said that Mitsubishi Monetro Sport has poor resale value as you can see it dropped almost 40K in 5 months, I know its a distress sale, COVID, people going back, but still huge drop.

Toyota's are best in resale, then Nissan and then Honda and Mitsu - in Japanese segment.

My first bet with given budget + offroad choice = FJC or Prado. If you consider extreme offroading in the future FJC requires no expense, but Prado need a bash plate and/or bumper trimming/change.

And if you are in UAE and an outdoor loving soul, at some point you will hit the desert. And at that time you definitely don't want to be sitting on roadside sand and enjoy the dunes view than driving by yourself.

Thank you @sertac! Just a follow-up question, even with the Trailhawk badge, the Cherokee is not good off-road?

I did think of FJ as such, but since it's phased out by Toyota, not sure of it.

Many badging are just for marketing and advertising department. Unless you modify and/or protect under body properly Jeep Grand Cherokee have few week spots.

@Brette can share his views as an owner + offroader.

For FJC, visibility is not so bad as people scare about, if you are interested, I suggest test drive few and decide. FJC can really tick all boxes + extreme offroading with "Toyota Reliability" (Really a blessing and a big deal) for UAE extreme temperature.

For FJC being discontinued model, don't worry too much as all car models once discontinue will have full dealer support with parts and maintenance for 10-15 years easy. If you like to go this route call up Al Futtaim and check what is their official stand on supporting FJC until 2025 or 2030.
