@Thomas Varghese I disagree for you to accelerate to a point where you feel you're going to fly over the dune. Although there is sand on the other side but as a Newbie you don't know how your vehicle will react to landing hard on the other side. I would much rather have you try it out a few times before getting it right.
@Shehab Alawadhi please follow our video instructions for newbies and start with lower RPM, if you get stuck reverse and try again at slightly higher RPM. I would rather have you learn to perfect your throttle than putting you in any kind of danger.

Its always a good idea to keep your car clean. This coming from someone who only gets his car washed on special occasions like annual passing. However washing is not going to keep your tire rods or rubbers clean and thus damage proof. Your tire rods will only bend if there are a few hard bumps and not because there was sand from the last drive. Similarly rubber will become hard and crack with time and change in temperature, not because of sand from a few drives back. Cleaning from the underside helps you to get down and visually inspect if there is anything that looks put of place.
Although its not a good idea to leave your throttle when you are climbing up a dune, but its not the greatest idea to keep the accelerator pressed to warrant a jump. That is why we encourage people to observe the car ahead and try to repeat the exercise. Once you feel that the front wheels of your car are through, let the accelerator go. The car's momentum will take it through. My opinion is better to get stuck than have an incident, and I'm sure no senior member in Carnity will encourage you to jump instead of getting stuck. Even our tutorial video clearly states try at lower RPM if you fail, reverse and try at slightly higher RPM and so on and so forth until you get it right. Repeat the exercise on each dune and do not go at higher RPM on next dune as each dune is built differently although they might look the same. With experience and repeating this exercise you'll learn the right throttle at the right time. Momentum doesn't mean speed, it means the right speed at the right time. Hope you continue to learn safely and with the patience of all the convoys all around, we don't mind you taking longer the learn as long as you do it safely.

Congratulations @Foxtrot Oscar. I have been lucky to support 2 of your drives and I was pleased to see how passionate you are about the sport. Your positive energy gives a boost to the whole convoy. Your calm and calculated approach is wonderful to keep the convoy moving safely. The challenges you put the convoy through are met with calmness and with fun due to your positive attitude. I'm so proud that you're associated with Carnity and heading to be one of the first few lady Marshals in our community. Well done lass.

@Shehab Alawadhi great question. When I learn I will let you know. Seriously, getting a refusal or getting stuck is part of your learning process. I've been out in the dunes for over 12 years and I'm still learning. Main thing in a stuck or refusal is to stay calm, you think better when your mind is at peace. The key to not getting stuck is momentum, the right speed at the right time. You have to perfect the knowledge of when to accelerate and when to let the throttle go. You will only learn this with time as your vehicle and you become one. Remember when Ironman first wore his suit, he destroyed everything in his lab. With time he learned how to control his suit, with nobody to guide him. You're lucky you have excellent people around you to teach and guide you so you don't have to destroy your lab. Enjoy, look closely how the vehicle in front of you is managing the situation and learn and replicate their actions. Happy learning bro. Looking forward to catching up with you on one of the drives.

@Ale Vallecchi wonderful story telling. Got me hooked. Starting wondering if VW took its Touareg name from one of your stories.

With all these trip reports I'm just going to tell it as I saw it through my eyes. First thing I noted was a mix up and we ended up with some Newbies from @Wrangeld drive and once I went around some of our team were at the other convoy. So after announcing and sorting out the confusion I started deflating. First thing I noticed was a water tanker which was stuck. I ended up cheering for the driver as he created a track with patience moving forward and back. Finally he was able to get himself put of the situation.
My attentin was all @Foxtrot Oscar as she delivered the short briefing. As we started to move i was pleased to see so many hot air balloons up in the sky. What a beautiful sight. This is my second time I was supporting @Foxtrot Oscar drive and besides a good chemistry I'm always impressed with the way she leads. She does take everyone through challenges without which we would not have an opportunity to learn.
After over 12 years of having seen the desert what gets me up and going is the people in the convoy. I feel really sorry for @Arda Yagcioglu & @Ranjan Das to have to exit early. But its always better to be safe than sorry. It was a pleasure watching @Tamas Hoffmann, @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ, @Rizwan Waheed, @Ahab Shamaa, @Hennie Schoeman & @Franco Swart with their improved techniques. Special thanks goes out to @Ahab Shamaa not only for his endearing smile but a bag of Olive bread which i enjoyed with my family. What an amazing bunch, they made my Friday morning as beautiful as it could be.
Love you all and catch you soon. Enjoy whats left of this weekend.

I'm not sure about other Emirates but for Dubai registered cars you need a safety triangle and a fire extinguisher. These do have an expiry date and must be refilled before expiry date. However the car extinguishers are quite small. I personally carry a 4KG fire extinguisher and 2 fire extinguisher balls which are with 5 year expiry date.

I have seen it personally and feel that once sand gets in to the electric working parts its just going to be a heavy useless piece of metal. Plus the jack point is very high, so you need to dig half a kilometre below the jacking point to get it in. I would not recommend it.

Looks like a Pajero ad. Ad starts by saying the Jeep can go anywhere and end the video showing the Pajero followed it through the terrain. Great video @Yousef Alimadadi

Insha Allah @Ahab Shamaa. Where there is a will there is a way. You remin me of my father who was just as hilarious and humorous like you. I continue to pray for your health as I would love to spend more time in your company. I know you might think I'm selfish, but that is just the way I am.

@Ahab Shamaa be careful what you wish for. Next year is just a month away. If you plan to stay over night in Liwa count me in. I'll even share your tent, Omlet paratha and chai. What an opportunity Liwa was to make our bond stronger and perform so well as a team. I'm already looking forward to giving my blood sample as long as the results come negative and making the long journey towards new friendships and stronger bonds.

You can follow my method for my car. But my Pathy is an off-road vehicle only and sees hardly any time on-road. I think the longest journey it has seen this entire year was on the way to Liwa and back. But than again its a 19 year old car and I love watching people amazed as they see my little falling apart Pathy do everything. I just leave the bumpers filling apart for an entire year and close to passing time I get it fixed and passed, ready to surprise everyone for an entire year.

For seeing in front of your car radio isn't needed. He could have simply left gas.
Either red car is an Absolute Newbie or in stage of denial thinking that 6000 hp wrangler can come out of its own.
Correct @Gaurav bhai. 6000 ho can definitely help the Wrangler come out in China through the earthese core if he gives enough gas.

Jeep being the ultimate off-road vehicle and JL should still be under warranty. Have you checked with Trading Enterprise? If you report it as a desert accident close to road side you can claim it from insurance. All you need to pay is the Police fine and insurance excess.

Thanks @Frederic for a very well explained post on the power delivery of the 2 engine options. However older models of Pajero also came with the 3.0 litre engine which seems a bit underpowered on LWB versions, but the torque delivery seems excellent but on higher RPM as shown on the 3.5 litre version. Engine power is not the only thing to look at as delivery of the power is also shown on the curve.
One more thing to take care is pre 2014 models 3.8 litre engines came with the new 5 speed auto gears, but the 3.5 litre models came with the old 4 speed autos. From 2014 onwards both models received the same new 5 speed auto technologies. I believe this also makes some difference.

As @Frederic mentioned in the desert the bottle jack is very narrow and does not give a good base, very unstable. Thus a floor jack of 2 tonnes should be sufficient. You are not going to lift the complete 2.5 tonnes at any given time. But make sure you're on as flat a surface in the desert before jacking the car and get a jack board as your base.
