Hello. It was an eventful day and an eventful drive..and more over a day where every one of us realized the strength of carnity family. Let me thank each and every one of you for being such good and helpful people in the middle of worst nightmare of an off- roader . Thank you 🙏👏👏👏. It was a real pleasure to drive with all of you today and we were all amazing at the drive level. It was a a wonderful drive. But it was unfortunate towards the end. Thanks to @Ashok chaturvedifor being a wonderful 2nd lead and for you winch which did a lot today. Thank you @Thomas Varghesefor sweeping the convoy and for all your help and support and for being with me and @Ashok chaturveditill the end of the whole show. Thank you @Pacific for the CF role and you did a wonderful job today in bringing my car back to life.Thank you @Aisha S for all the shoveling you did and help in fixing the pop out. Thank you @Davie Chasefor the advises and for making the car drivable removing the wind shield and for you protective eye wear. Many thanks @Srikumar for the drive yesterday. It was a beautiful desert morning day, perfect weather, perfect sand conditions and a great team of motivated drivers. You have picked up a great itinerary, with a superb selection of dunes, starting from small round one to higher ones. After the first hour of warm-up, you have raised the level including some crossings from the slip face that required more momentum and precision in the steering, especially at the back of the convoy when the tracks were a bit churned up. The team did very well tackling the challenges with determination, and re-attempting when needed. We a had a series of refusals, which are part of the game, a few more serious stucks requiring shoveling effort, and finally the rope in one case. It was the opportunity to learn recoveries techniques, and to see that a good team work, with some technical knowledge and practice can get the cars out of most of the situations. @Zulfikhar Naiyar, good job as second lead, this position requires a constant concentration and quick reactions, you did very well. @Dimitrios Kalogirou, nice drive, no issue at all @Ravi Kumar, you will need to adjust your tire pressure more carefully, and you will see a big improvement in the grip of the car. @Daniel Fernandez, excellent job with the Pajero, and nice support during the recoveries and careful listening to support instructions. You have seen that momentum is key, as it is more difficult to restart from some difficult position. @Abdul Basit Khan, good control of the X-terra, nice drive ! @Ameera AlMarzooqivery good work with the LC. you have a good balance between momentum and steering precision @JERINE_B, no issue at all, the Wrangler was steady in my mirrors. You were attentive to the instruction when required, well done @Roger K, it was a pleasure to see the LR going up and down the dunes. Very good control of your car in this mixed terrain. @Eduardo sos, nice to see another FJ in the convoy. you will keep enjoying and exploring the capacity of the car @Sree - Fortuner, your car is a bit heavy, you will see that momentum is key for a fluid drive. Well done, and try to keep a more constant distance with the car in front of you for the next drives @luwaimn, same with the Prado, momentum is key for a smooth drive. Well done @Farook Veettil, many thanks for the sweep job. It is very important for the safety of the convoy, you did well. Thank you all for joining, and participating to the recoveries when needed with a good spirit, it is a teams sport ! For the next drives, it is mandatory to have flag, radio, shovel. Thanks to all marshals and good friends! Did't expected to reach this level at the beginning when i was join the club, i was just want to show my kids the beautiful desert during this pandemic. It was a wonderful journey, really enjoyed every drives and learned a lot from you all. See you soon in the sand!

The trick: put it on L, get some momentum, smash it just before you get on the dune then keep the car close to the redline, steering slightly left and right when needed. It'll go up easily. I still struggle sometimes with dunes which require a lot of momentum because you cannot put it on L from the beginning, so more practice needed there.

Let's aim to cross the "unprecedented" Liwa Crescent from one side to another. To experience the magic of Rub’ al Khali (Empty Quarter) the largest uninterrupted desert on Earth! The Liwa Crossing through Empty Quarter offers a chance to witness nature in its purest form and in itself is a transcendent experience. However, traveling through the largest desert in the world is not something that should be taken lightly. It will be a 150 - 200 km off-road drive covered within 1.5 days through amazing breathtaking views and the enormous size of dunes on earth. What you will find here: Tallest sand dunes (200 - 300 meters) Steepest incline and drops Longest side sloping Broad ridge riding Faster heartbeat Sweaty hands Mandatory rules for Liwa Crossing (exceptional) drive. Considering its seriousness to keep you and your vehicle safe, these strict rules will be applied to all. For Fewbie level you must have driven at least 5 Fewbie drives with carnity in the last 3 months. If you are newly promoted (1-2 drives), then select one level lower drive than your current off-road rank. If you were away on a long break (more than 2 months), then select one level lower drive than your current off-road rank. It is highly recommended to drive alone, as it's a very serious and demanding drive to stay focused at all times. Maximum of one passenger allowed - No exceptions and trip lead will send you back. Make sure that passenger has no fear of heights, motion sickness and have been to full-day off-road drives before. As once we enter the desert, the only way out is from the other side, without any early exits for 100-150 kms. Everything in your car should be strapped and secured - All vehicles will be checked by the trip lead. Convoy size - strict adherence Fewbie: 10 Cars + 1 Lead + 2 Support = 13 Cars in total Fewbie Plus: 10 Cars + 1 Lead + 2 Support = 13 Cars in total Intermediate: 10 Cars + 1 Lead = 11 Cars in total Drive Preparation: Your car should be in 100% pristine working condition, so double or triple check everything. Full-size spare tire with a lug wrench to match your wheel nut size and its depth. For aftermarket rims - Your lug wrench also needs to match the wheel nut depth. As it's a long full-day drive, so catch up with enough sleep in advance. 5-10 liter of water per person. Snacks for breakfast, lunch, dinner and next day breakfast. Hello Team, An amazing drive made even better by all my fellow riders. Thank you @Islam Solimanfor organizing this drive. The lead and the paths were awesome. Your continuous appreciation for all drivers after completing a sweep or dune crossing is commendable. This is my 3rd drive and I felt I did better than my last 2 drives even though i had to be tugged out a couple of times. But I can tell you that my stucks in the previous drives were more preventable. In this drive, I learnt to control my car without giving much gas and just using momentum even though i got stuck because of it, but I learnt a lot about how much power i need depending on the nature of the sand. I am getting there slowly but steadily @Islam Solimanyour inputs on handling and controlling a heavy car in the dunes was very beneficial and boosted my confidence in doing side sweeps. A much deserved shoutout to @Looper, You were amazing man, in your yellow jeep. Very quick and agile in going to refusals and stucks and your guidance to self recover. Thank you for your tips during the break. Within a short time into the drive, you identified that I wasn't gassing my car properly and your advice helped me complete the drive without any major stalls. Also, @OwaisGreat job with the silverado. I was expecting more stucks/refusals from you you disappointed me man, with your excellent driving skills. Same with the white xterra. you guys proved that the driver is more important than having a powerful engine or a SWB. Both @Islam Solimanand @Looper's radio instructions were on point and clear. A thank you to both of you once again for fixing my pop-out at the last minute of the drive. your commitment to ensure that the last car reaches the tarmac before you guys leave is admirable. Looking forward for many drives with you guys in the future. Overall, it was a fun filled drive and quite honest, I had a feeling that we ended the drive too early (even though we left the sands at 11 am), I was in the mood for more. Probably, I should check a full day drive next time P.S. Also, I would like to know the drivers tips and inputs on what maintenance might be needed after completing a drive, if any. for eg, after the drive, the steering in my car was vibrating a lot and was very tight especially when turning at high speeds. Got a full body wash done and took it to tyre shop to check for alignment - was OK. I was scared that i broke by suspension or something major. Garage guy checked the power steering fluid and it was low. topped up the fluid and the steering was smooth as before. Still need to check if there was a leak. Cant be the case as I changed the hoses and the entire power steering setup a couple of weeks ago.

Another great end-of-weekend with very sound off-roaders! We started at Al Faqa's long dunes, moved towards little Sweihan and finished at our meeting point again by making a wide loop. Side sloping, crisscrossing, ridge-riding... refusals, stucks, pop outs... shovels, tugs and excellent teamwork... we tasted a little bit of everything today. Luckily the sun was hiding so we shoveled under the morning winds breezing cool. The pop-out was a bit tricky so we had some overtime in the end. But anyway, every single issue was sorted out quickly with a great teamwork of the convoy members. Marshal @Kailas didn't leave me without support today and he saved our day indeed. Thank you buddy! It was very nice driving with you again after almost a year! @Michel Van Woudenberg & @Tom B flawless support as always! Second time I had you both on these spots and excellent result again. Very smooth, super gently and perfectly balanced tug outs - well done @Tom B. Fresh fewbies @Max Beloenko and @Pieter Potgieter were amazing at start of their new Fwb adventures. 1st of all I thank God to have made me participate in this drive so that I could meet some men and a woman who has nerves of steel. People who had looked so ordinary turned out to be super heroes. Thanks @Shaaz Sha the lead, @Ashok chaturvedi the SL, @Vaibhav, @Waqas Parvez, @topgear, @Aisha S, @Pacific the CF, @Gilbert Khalil, @Davie Chase, @MMansoor who all showed up on time for the drive so that we could start our drive on time. The start of the drive I was feeling excited as I have never driven in this area and didn't see any cross tracks which showed its not a very frequented area by off roaders. The start was exciting with some low level side sloping, ridge riding, and cross overs at a medium pace right from the meeting point. The drive proceeded with minimal refusals and few stucks which gave the opportunity to take out the shovel and the rope. I appreciate @Aisha S & @Davie Chase for fully understanding the club's instruction of staying put wherever you are when the car in front is having trouble negotiating the terrain. They stopped and patiently waited for the car in front to get out of the situation even risking themselves stuck in that awkward position and meanwhile helping out the driver with shovel and clear instructions and also everybody else for keeping the radio channel free for the lead and support team to use. As our marshals have always instructed us this is perfectly ok and less stressful for the lead and support team rather than worsening the situation by crashing into each other. Well done. The drive proceeded excitingly for the convoy and soon found @Mehmet Volga's & @Kailas's convoy on the way. It was nice to exchange greetings and pleasantries with them and we moved on to other parts of the desert to explore. Soon I found myself in a very precarious situation stuck at almost 50 to 60 degree angle on the side of a small slip face. I had to call the support of @Shaaz Sha & @Pacific to rescue me from this tricky situation. Meanwhile friends like @Davie Chase, @MMansoor, @Gilbert Khalil & finally the 2nd lead @Ashok chaturvedi chipped in with their shovels and tried to dislodge my car from the sand wall build up. @Davie Chase gave me the gentlest of pulls to yank me out but didn't help much and we were worried the car may roll down the slip face. Good job buddy and I can sincerely recommend you to tug me out anytime as it was a very professional pull you executed. Don't bother about not being successful. The crucial point is your pull didn't cause a roll over. Anything hard would have definitely triggered a disaster. Finally @Shaaz Sha's experience as a lead paid off by shovelling more at the right places and after a bit of left right, blip blip accelerator the sand slowly released its grip on my car and it slowly slid down and we all sighed with relief and proceeded again in our drive. The 2nd part of this drive is when I saw @Ashok chaturvedi stopped in a position which resembled a crest and somebody I think it was @Waqas Parvez or @Vaibhav shouting frantically into the radio don't follow Shaaz to Ashok. As there was no reply from Shaaz I immediately rerouted from my position along with @MMansoor to reach where Shaaz was, to check out on him. I found Shaaz alright sitting inside his car but the windscreen broken and some minor scratches on its sides. Shaaz pushed open his door and calmly walked out. The rest of the convoy followed the path I took and joined us. The X surely had a roll over and had a double pop out on its left side. Shaaz explained what had taken place. As he was coming down straight from the top of the dune his front driver side wheel dug into the super soft sand as it was a slip face and resulted in a pop out throwing out the momentum of the car into a disarray. Even while the car was rolling down he had the presence of mind to switch off the engine, crouch into the seat protecting the head from banging on the roof. Well God was also on our side and he came out unhurt. This was the time I saw a perfectly behaved convoy. Nobody crowded over the car, nobody tried to be a vocal hero, everybody pitched in with their physical efforts to recover the car. @Ashok chaturvedi slowly winched out the car from its position to flat ground. Then we saw the lady @Aisha S in action. She coordinated the efforts to fix the jack under the car and saw to it that the pop outs were fixed soon after. @Aisha S proud to have driven with you and I promise will drive with you anytime. The 3rd part of the drive was when the X proved what a car it is. It showed us why its called the mighty X. It sure is the mighty X. Right after fixing the pop out and getting rid of the cracked windscreen @Shaaz Sha simply drove out from the desert in the X as if nothing happened. Everyone followed him in the convoy order. The X maybe injured but not out and certainly will not limp. Proud to own this breed of car. It saved the driver from any injuries and after some care could drive itself out from this to exit. I want to stress something which I learned from this incident. All the drivers and club members should be aware of the risks the trip leads take to keep us entertained in the drive. The importance of a good 2nd lead. The lead is driving and driving through unknown terrain where there are no roads or sign boards to warn them of the dangers below. Desert is a very dangerous place. Shouldn't drive without paying absolute attention. Some people say this Marshal is exciting that marshal is ok or another marshal is boring. There is nothing like that. They drive and take the lead so that we can learn to drive offroading in the most safest way. We should be respectful of the risks they take. They too have a family waiting for them to reach home just like all of us. Shaaz plus point is he takes us through unchartered areas of the desert where few people venture into. This makes his drives exciting but remember all fun has its risks too. He took the risk so that we can enjoy the offroading experience. The other important lesson I learned from this is never drive in the desert or anywhere without wearing the seat belt. 100% it was the seat belt which protected him from flying around in the car when the roll over happened. Other than this everything went smoothly at the police station for the police report. Once the car was inspected by police they released the car and its right now reached its garage for repairs on a recovery truck. Thanks everybody for joining the drive.
