Hello all of my fellow Liwa Crescent Explorers. To commemorate the successful completion of our drive, I am getting stickers printed. You can use the stickers on the rear windshield. Gent, Its been a pleasure drive this morning with @Srikumar for showing us a how to have fun in the hidden side of Sweiham. Glad to attend this drive with you! Thank you to @Zulfikar @Haitham Khattab @Looper(great car by the way! and you deserved an appreciation for winching the poor guy with his half cooked car off the deep end) @Awais Zuberi for the keeping us in tact. I must say, this drive is no doubt enjoyable and clocking some good mileage! Take care, am going for a snooze!

Trip report ( convoy I ) Today , literally , it was a challenge drive at this level and I can promise it was never my plan. However when Mother Nature sometimes has its surprises that someone can just flow with it and never against it . It turned out every one was up to the challenge in team spirit work and patience , focus and learning opportunity for every one . It was lovely to meet new faces today in the morning well prepared and ready for the quest . Borrowing the toy G wagon from my little copilot 😅 doing little demo to clarify things especially for the fresh Fewbies stressing on clear communication and driving style safety points the strongest not to fight gravity golden rule . Not far from our standing line was @Ale Vallecchi and his convoy II ready to move as well and after few words with our Marshal thanking him once more for leading convoy II every convoy took its own route and direction. starting slowly aiming toward the long range north to Baja track having some fun looping around and around . It was a pleasant surprise to see @Frederic and his family camp site waving for us . We greeted them warmly and we continued our loop crossing the sabkha connecting Baja track . From the middle or further my plan was to detour left facing the chimney and we crossed that Nicely and after our first “official break “ the long route what I planned seems has changed its face leaving us no choice than to cross from slip side of the dunes🤭 . this segment in the green mark I had no choice than to accept it and navigate around it , as back tracking I judged would be more difficult for the whole convoy as one unit ,or when ever was possible we crossed straight up/ down with very seldom criss cross and for one it went ok but not for the second as the sand was super soft . Along that segment came a cocktail of crests, refusals , stucks even a pop out . I was not spared my self from that 😅 eventually we reached the flat land face to face with chimney tower 😂 after which we took a breath taking break and we run along the track straight till we reached solar park beautiful tower we’re had our exit . It was 12:30 already afternoon I have to say we have made it safely all of us . It was demanding and entailing definitely skills higher than Fewbie level were I was trying my best to adhere to that for everyone sake of safety . @Morshedi outstanding second lead , I remember when you did your first Fewbie huge difference and big progress . Well done . I hope your copilot enjoyed it . @Mahmoud Taha it’s your first Fb drive and our first time we meet too . pleasure . Considering the difficulty of the terrain you have managed your Xterra very well despite some crest and refusal and after todays drive I don’t think you will have any problem with any technical you might be in . Well done 👍 @Patrick van der Loo excellent driving you managed your prado very nicely . Well done . Pleasure meeting for first time too @Tareq Al Turq very well done in communication and adhering to the instructions which made it smooth recovery for you . Controlled driving your prado and managing a beast like Tundra respectively was a treat to see and learn. Also you have done the tug recovery under my direct supervision was outstanding . Dear Marshal @Ale Vallecchi it was an honor to drive under your supervision. you guided us very well initially and in between when need it. we got some stuck and refusals which is the part of Desert Drives. but most important thing is I learn a lot today specially on approaching the ridge and decent (right and left). today was my very first outing in Fewbie Levels. and i’m keen to learn more. thank you once again.

Thanks @Tbone for organizing great afternoon drive and to @Wrangeld for leading convoy no2! convoy2 experienced a bit of everything! Some long range dunes, few small bowls, then into cross cross as the drive led into the soft technical sections. And some reduced visibility at times too due to wind blowing the sand around! a few stucks and refusals gave perfect opportunity for the convoy to learn. in no particular order . . . @Juzer Gandhi had stuck at angle while criss crossing. Here, the car wasn’t fully on the ridge as Richard explained before trying to turn down. A bit of digging and he was out but we all got the opportunity to learn here! @FARAZ MOHAMMED became stuck while side slopping. Here, a reminder that momentum is key and to not try to fight gravity. Great self recovery to rejoin the convoy though! at one point in the soft sands we had 2 or 3 cars stuck but all resolved with digging (even in the heat). Great guidance on where to dig from @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil! @udit completed his first fewbie. From the back it’s always re-assuring to see drivers steering down when they begin to fishtail or loose momentum rather than trying to maintain the line of the driver in front against gravity. A few refusals as you continue to learn how to handle your car but Well done! see you all in the sand again soon ! (pictures to follow in the gallery!)

Hello everyone First of all I thank you all for the patients and support during the drive. Special thanks to @Tbone for the special care. During the drive my car went to Limp mode. May be after 1 hour of drive, RPM not going above 2000, even though I hit the accelerator very hard. With the help of @Tboneand @Janarthan tried to reset my car by disconnect battery terminal but it didn’t work. We checked the air filter area and found the air filter inlet hose was loose. We fixed it but still the problem not solved. So I decided to exit the convoy. On the way to workshop I entered one gas station and thought to try the throttle learning process which I saw in carnity advice group before. It worked in my car and everything become normal after doing the procedure. But still I want to know why my car went to limp mode, so continue my travel to workshop. My technician checked my car with Diagnostic tool but didn’t find any error or data mismatch. I explained him everything how limp mode happened and what we done to reset my car. According to him may be because of loose air filter inlet hose the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor reading gets wrong and the car went to limp mode. By refitting the Air filter hose and done the relearning of throttle body may be I was able to solve the problem. But still we don’t have a exact conclusion. Now everything is fine with the car and I done the relearning using Computer also. So as conclusion if the car went to limp mode with no warning lamp, check the parts related to air filter like air filter hose, MAF sensor, O2 Sensor etc… for any loose or dust entry. Refit / Clean it and remove the battery terminal and wait for 1 or 2 mins. If the error is a glitch in sensor then it will be reset. If the problem not solved then do the relearning of throttle body ( For Nissan vehicles). I think limp mode can be overcome by these procedure. But if there is any warning lamp or still the problem exists it better to visit your technician and have a look🙂

@Hisham Masaad Yallah push was all I could think about for the entire week, and I was never disappointed with it, my younger brother said he enjoyed the drive more than the Ferrari World roller coaster at one point me @imranaasghar81 and @Vaibhav took two loops before climbing a dune and it was better than any of the rides One thing I've always liked about @Carnity is that safety comes first. @Islam SolimanRecovery may have been done faster, but safety measures were followed, and this is a fantastic learning experience for all of us, thank you for your support. What a wonderful drive we had today. There was minimal radio chatter, helping me meditate during the long spells of radio silence, simply loved it. Everyone drive so well that I forgot I was supposed to be supporting the drive and felt like driving a normal newbie drive. Hardly any refusals or stucks - great showing guys. This drive is perhaps one of the last drives in winter schedule, mercury did scale new highs and it was quite warm by the time we ended. Get ready to be at the meeting point by 6. Alarms must go off at 4 instead of 5. @jeetu sharmaexcellent work as a second lead. @Alfred Alinazar I am sure you had a wonderful drive at the tail end. So much more to do in the sweep, or rather nothing, choice is always yours. Last time I saw you, I was shadow supporting in my wife’s drive. Initially thought you are are fresh newbie, but looked up the profile and realised the number of drives you been to, I salute your simplicity in the drive preparation, not many have the patience as you do. a big thanks to @Frederic for the drive. @Azam V2.0 - you changed your name…. Lucky you, you had first hand experience of how unpredictable sand is, just a few meters to the right of us and you found yourself in on of the most nasty stucks just like that, for no reason at all. @Zulfikhar Naiyar see you tomorrow. @Paolo Morresi, Jeep in UAE bring their worst bumpers here to UAE. While the car is most capable of all- the bumpers are designed to fail. I don’t know if it is deliberate. They have a nice low profile steel bumpers in US, which they sell with Rubicon as standard and optional on other trim levels, but for some reason they only bring the worst bumpers for sand to UAE. I am on my fourth, bumper, so I have gone through the entire process. Even the Mopar steel bumpers fail. I was able to break the number plate bracket even on the metal bumper. My first recommendation for you is to buy some heavy duty zip ties and continue with this plastic bumper as long as possible. Then, when this bumper is a 100% write off for good, there are two options. 1. Somehow get the same bumper and cut the long number plate bit and relocate the number plate or 2. get an AOR metal bumper. Second option is definitely more elegant option, I would personally go for it. The recommended bumper upgrade for Jeep Sport & Sahara is to go for AOR for rear bumper & Mopar for front bumper if you want to install a winch. I did the reverse, I know, I did wrong.

As a small introduction, kindly inform us about the following: 1) Which 4x4 are you bringing? 2) Do you have any prior offroad experience? if so please specify. 3) Is your 4x4 equipped with tow points at the front and back? With the summer coming closer, we will go a little deeper into the dangers of being exposed to the extreme heat UAE brings to us. During off-roading, some activities such as recovery work, replacing tyres, and dealing with pop-outs, are physically demanding, and many of us who are in office jobs are not trained to cope with this amount of heat. Luckily with the help of some basic things, we can minimize the risk of below mentioned issues. The following risks are identified: Heat exhaustion: Warning signs: A person may suddenly look pale. Heart rate will increase and the victim may complain of feeling dizzy and nauseous. A feeling of weakness is also common. What to do: Seek shade immediately and lie down, especially if you’re feeling lightheaded. Apply a cold compress to the forehead and remove extra layers. Heat Stroke: Warning signs: Heat stroke is a type of hypothermia where the body temperature is greatly elevated. If not treated immediately it can be fatal. Symptoms are similar to those of a heart attack, along with nausea, headaches, hallucinations, difficulty in breathing, and agitation, What to do: apply cool water to the skin and place ice packs under the arms to reduce the temperature quickly. Preventive Measures: • Sip some water all day long, rather than just when you are thirsty. If you are thirsty it means you are already dehydrated. • Wear light clothing that can "breathe", but also wear sunblock and keep your head protected with a cap or hat. • Some fruit and vegetables can re-hydrate the body even more than water. Carry some in your cooler. • Water is important, but too much water can be dangerous as it can cause electrolyte depletion. Limit yourselves to 2-3 liters per day. • When recovering a vehicle in full sun, limit your exposure time and take some rest every couple of minutes. Because you are focused on the task at hand, you might completely forget the heat and become dizzy and exhausted. • If at some point you feel unwell, inform your club members immediately. When driving, inform immediately over the radio so the convoy can be stopped. • Keep an eye out for your fellow club members. It is relatively easy to recognize above symptoms in somebody else. Let them take appropriate rest. Please do share your tips, hints, experiences !
