  1. Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement! It has been an adventure since my first newbie drives. And like in the best games, a new level opens every few months. Each of these steps is a new discovery where a new facet of this beautiful activity unveils. The parts that were challenging before become more accessible, and new challenges rise, renewing the interest (if need be) with new learnings and experience. Now in addition to the driving itself comes the preparation of a drive, the navigation, the perception of the convoy. All this with the purpose to make each drive an enjoyable experience for each participant, and for myself ! Thank you @Carnity for enabling such a progression, in a safe environment, thank you to all marshals, leads, for their support, guidance and confidence and to all my fellow drivers, we learn from each other every day!

  2. Dear Desertnauts quick update about tomorrow's drive. First, contemplating his predicament with attempting to sign up to the drive, and the newly implemented regulations about Friday's drive, I have added @Waqas Parvez to the list, making it a still manageable 10 car convoy. Secondly, let's not worry too much about the forecasted heat. These are my preferred conditions, when driving in the desert: hot and dusty air, burning and soft sands. slowly cooling themselves down as the drive progresses toward the sunset, when we'll be able to savor the balmy environment and dusky colors at the end of the drive. True desert conditions for a well motivated convoy. If memory serves me well (not having been in this area for a few months), to access the meeting point across the farms and fields of the Al Hayer area, costing E20, we'll have to drive through one of those self-opening gates. Get as close to the gate as possible to activate the automatic system, then proceed on the dirt track to the meeting point. The drive's difficulty coefficient will be increased by the fact that we'll be always moving across the slip-faces, hence we'll have to find suitable places to cross the soft sand, especially at the beginning of the drive, in the hottest hours. We plan to reach at least Murqaab, with the possibility of extending to Lisaili. At the moment, the convoy order will be as follows: @Anoop Nair in Second Lead @Joji varghese at #3 @ASAD. #4 @Rob S at #5 @Tom B #6 @Waqas Parvez at #7 @Charbel #8 @munkybizness at #9, and @Christian Andras in Sweep. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow. Have a nice Thursday.

Dear friends Sam K @Sam K Mahmoud Taha @Mahmoud Taha Jonny90 @Jonny90 JERINE_B @JERINE_B TT_Dubai @TT_Dubai Jona @Jona Alfred Alinazar @Alfred Alinazar Senthil Kumar @Senthil Kumar Quresh Pajero @Quresh Pajero topgear @topgear Pierre Potgieter @Pieter Potgieter Less than 72 hours for our tour that will take us in an area which I believe is quite familiar to many if not all . But what could be new is the terrain route which is never the same and I will make my best to choose the best one where we all can snake back and forth , slide and cross the beautiful red sand dunes. please check your vehicles from now onward and make sure that you have the gear required for fewbie level . Check your front and back tow points and that their integrity are intact. please note that , despite its Fewbie drive , in some part of our trip there might be in/out bowing that might induce a motion sickness to the well known passengers to it. Therefore I advice if you know it better not to bring them along πŸ™ If you know from now that you won’t be able to take place in the drive please I ask you kindly to leave it for the next one on the wait list. Stay tuned for more info regarding the drive it self 24 hours before the drive p.s : I advise every one especially the first time fewbie to read the article below πŸ‘‡ which might help at the time I take the tutorial at the meeting point before the drive immediately. https://carnity.com/forums/topic/14600-dune-crossing-tutorial-and-techniques

  8. For those coming from Dubai on E66 (Al Ain Road), ADNOC Al Hayer-2 (659) is the last gas station. https://goo.gl/maps/6xkAVeMznmGMe5ZZ8 It is 17kms from the meeting point. If you’re coming from Abu Dhabi city, ADNOC Nahel (658) is probably the last station for you. https://goo.gl/maps/XJPRnpBYvrJ2Uzru9

  9. Dear Desertnauts. In preparation for Saturday's drive, having said as much as possible in the drive's briefing, the most important information at the moment is how to reach the meeting point. Google map will send you on a long and windong route: to avoid it, please, arrive at Qudra Last Exit's ADNOC gas station, enter it (and top up your tank, as you are at it), and proceed through its exit. As soon as you have left the gas station's perimeter, you will find the meeting point to your left, on a dirt patch near a bike shop and a Thai restaurant. Park and deflate, as close to 13 (not more) or less, based on the type of tires you are mounting. We'll enter the desert from a nearby track, and we'll have a technical briefing as soon as we reach the first dunes. Then we'll put theory to the test, practicing first straight crossings, then side sloping, and eventually smooth ridge riding and criss crossing. The convoy order will be the following (with Fewbies and above alternating to lead each Newbie, and tutor them through the training exercises and the drive): @Adhir Saxena in Second Lead @Yogesh Chaudhary at 3 @Nitin Mohan at #4 @Anirudh Dayma #5 @Mike. at #6 @Sunny84 #7 @Brette at Center Forward @Jaro Tuzinsky at #9 @george charbel #10 @Azam V2.0 #11 @JERINE_B #12 @Jad Moussalli #13 and @munkybizness in Sweep. Radio frequencies will be announced on the spot. Thanks a lot and see you on Saturday. Enjoy the end of the week.

  35. Dear Sand Sailors Thanks all for RSVPing for the drive. We have an nice diverse convoy with a good mix of experience and ships, well aligned to the plan for the drive. Plan for the drive Meeting point : we plan to meet at https://maps.app.goo.gl/PTPqopKS2CPzhxZD7 and start the drive with first ray of sunlight, so make sure to reach at meeting point no later than 5am. The area is full of some crazy bowls and slopes, perfect terrain for us to explore every element of offroading - steep climbs to criss crossing, ridge riding and all.... There are dunes all over the place with exit points as well all around. Plan is that there is no plan - we'll enter the dunes and just have fun, jumping from one play area to another, one bowl to another and will try to reach the exit at around 9am. So make sure you have your running gear set as with dunes so awesome, i feel the need, the Need For Speed..πŸ™‚ yeah ignore it, i just saw Topgun yesterday so it's going to stay for sometime...πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ We will be joined by the Sultan of Sweihan @Srikumar with all his energy and ofcoure the most beautiful Jeep we have in Carnity. Thanks Sri πŸ–– Looking forward.to see you all this sunday. In case of any change in your plan, please update the RSVP and inform well in advance.
