  1. I and @Zed were at Swihan today. Please note these words of caution. 1. There was dense fog starting from Dubai till about 12km before Swihan. I was on E611 till I reached E75 truck road. The visibility was about 200-300 ft and I could safely drive about 85-90kmph only and not more. Trucks were not plying on the road and were parked by the side. 2. As soon as I reached E75 which is in Abu Dhabi, I got messages from AD police saying that the speed limit is 80. Because of dense fog and it being single road I did not drive over 75 and some times even less as visibility was quite bad. Again there were no tucks only few small commercial vehicles. 3. I continued to drive at about 75ish KMPH on E16 which is a 140kmph road even after fog was lifted till I reached Swihan because in Abu Dhabi you will get fines if you cross 80 if you have received fog warning messages. In Dubai, you would not get warnings and you should have issues but, as per the rules you should be below 80 kmph. 4. My planned time was 1:30 hours to reach the destination but the speed limits added about 20 extra minutes to the commute time. So plan accordingly. DRIVE SAFE. Edit: tagging all so that you will receive emails. @Amr Aydin, @Alexanderrr, @ASAD., @Waqas Parvez, @Vaibhav,@DP1011 , Deepak wrangler, @Tom B, @Anoop Nair, @Simon Dawood PS: while it might not be relevant to our drive, but there were crazy number of other clubs and crazier drivers at the meeting point.

  3. Great job everyone, new fb+ and old ones. Thank you for joining, and special thanks to drivers from Abu Dhabi. Started almost on time, with little delay due to foggy weather. The plan was as mentioned earlier to start with big red and finish by faya, crossing pink rock and Sweidan area. Unfortunately, with the news received that both are surrounded with fences, plan changed. We spent some time warming up on big red dunes, and then the actual fun transferred to badayer. Amazing performance by everyone, with few refusal, one stuck and one pop out. Thank you very much @Ranjan Dasfor supporting us, @Ashutosh Garg for the powerful and full adherence SL and @Sunil Mathewfor sweeping us, till the loss of the flag of Ranjan Das. Wish you @Salim Akhtar @Ignacio Quindós @Sam K @Haitham Khattab @Naim Aoun @Tareq Al Turq @Imran Kashif @Senthil Kumar @takeshi sobue nice week end, and look forward to see you again in sand. Below summary of the drive. Regargds

  4. Thank you all for joining the drive today. We had a great time in great company ! Between the bushes and the cross tracks it was bumpy in many places, but we know it is part of it. The small bowls of the first portion were perfect to warm up and get that feeling of the required acceleration, just enough, but not too much, and the importance of choosing the correct line. Then the portion after the Fossil Rock offers as usual beautiful views of the mountains, but requires concentration and good control of momentum, and today with the soft sand, it was the place for a few refusals, all of them easily solved. Finally the big climbs on the side of Faya dune were particularly challenging today, with the unbelievable amount of tracks around. Congratulations to the ones who made it to the top, and to the ones who made several attempts. As you have seen, it is really a combination of car + driver, as choosing the proper line, proper gear, and dosing the acceleration are all important parameters that come in addition to the power of the car itself. Tire pressure has also its importance in these moments where every parameter counts. @Mike. Thank you for the 2nd lead, very well executed. A bit more determination will help you to go through the obstacles. @Benjamin, excellent 1st Fewbie drive, good control of your car and perfect radio comms @Zubair, very good 1st Fewbie also, controlling your acceleration to keep a continuous momentum will help controlling your trajectory @Jaro Tuzinsky, you had a difficult stuck, but for the rest, very nice drive, with a good focus in the bowls. @Rajiv Sam, thank you for the support, guiding fellow drivers and rerouting when needed. You have seen that the FJ has great capabilities ! @Brett Eicher, always a pleasure to see the classic Cherokee in the drive. You know how to take the most of it. Special congratulations for reaching the top of the high dune! @Jonny90, excellent drive, continue to enjoy @Joji varghese, thank you for joining, it is always nice to have more experienced drivers in the group @Brette, it was an honour to have you with us, thank you for the support and guidance for all of us. Thank you all for the excellent spirit, mutual support during recoveries, and nice chats during the breaks !!

  6. Great drive as usual Hisham. @Ranjan Das your instructions to get the car from that ditch were impressive; I never thought he will come out without being winched out or on all 4 wheels Unfortunately no one had a camera handy to document how tilted that car was.. Good job. See you next time.

  8. Yesterday evening was extremely humid resulting in the fog this morning. Lets keep the meeting time still at 6:00 AM, incase anyone is running a bit late (due to fog only), they can put a message on the forum or give me a call on 055-9567471 and we would wait for them. Please note that the speed cameras in Abu Dhabi reduce to 80 km/h in the event of fog, so please drive below that to avoid getting unnecessary fines.

  9. Cracking good fog this morning! I left home in plenty of time thanks to Abu Dhabi's awful fog alarm (which every mobile phone holder in the emirate gets blasted with for free) and complied with AD's 80kph limit all the way to Sweihan. It was a pea souper all the way along Al Taf until I was virtually at the meeting point. The dunes were like a frat party with hoons and drongos roaming like drunken crows (but with less discipline) Never mind, @Vanessa8580 runs a tight ship and soon we had trundled off in a compact little convoy to taste yet again, the mighty Al Ain sand sea. Lovely cool morning turned into a lovely hot morning after a few refusals and stucks but the progress was good. Thanks to @Davie Chase for all of the hard work at centre forward, my tasks at second lead were relatively simple by comparison. Thanks to @Looper and the late @Zed for bringing up the rear and having the most fun. The only Fewbie I could observe directly was @Jessica Lambert and my observation is that she drove immaculately! never a wheel wrong. Nice to meet you @Paul Zietsman and @Zulfikhar Naiyar I hope today met your expectations and that you progressed your learning. We all start somewhere (now get to the wheel and tyre shop STAT!)

  10. Thank you @JeromeFJ for a brilliant drive this morning. Drove with you 2 months ago in the same area which was one of my favourite Carnity drives. Today was equally as good albeit a completely different challenge. The area must have seen a lot of activity as the cross tracks were unreal. Safety and maximum enjoyment is the overwhelming feeling on your drives! @Brette great to see you again, thanks for the support. Great SL @mike, great to see you back on the sand. Great to see everyone this morning. Brilliant start to the weekend!!

  11. Dear Desertnauts, We all geared up and what a drive! First to find the starting point in the dense mist! The drive had a the variety as promised. Between dunes, ridges, sabkhas and technical area's it kept us at full alert at all times. The scenery was beautiful. Managed to capture a few pics - all loaded in the gallery. With a tug, shovel and re-attempts here and there we still managed to cover a great distance. Thanks for @Ale Vallecchi for a great route and support from @Charbel, @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler and @Kailas. See you all on the sand soon.

  13. Congratulations @M.Seidam for reaching the Marshal level with Carnity Offroad Club. Seidam joined Carnity in mid-2020 with his Jeep Grand Cherokee and great enthusiasm for off-roading. Later it got upgraded to Xterra to continue the passion and excitement to conquer every dune. With a very inquisitive nature, Seidam has learned and mastered many skills very quickly and always supported everyone. Exploring new areas and pushing new boundaries made him a seasoned off-roader with good knowledge and experience. With a prudent and cautious approach, he very well established his leading skills and tasteful drives to position himself as an integral part of the carnity family. MARSHAL is one of the most prestigious and sought-after titles that comes after a lot of hard work, patience, tolerance, and dedication. Just like all the levels in Carnity offroad club is "NOT" only based on driving skills but instead based on the combination of your personality + intelligence + team spirit + adventure. This Marshal title is an epitome for all levels in the offroad grading structure. So if anyone wants to grow, they can set any of Carnity Offroad Club Marshal as a PERFECT example for not only following the driving skills and style but also observing their behavior, teamwork, presence of mind, calculative approach, patience and tolerance to teach and support new offroaders.

  16. i'm putting ahead apologies & heads-up since I came late today for Vanessa's drive due to fog 😅 So for those who don't know, if there's Fog, all Abu Dhabi cameras that are online are automatically set to 80 km/h. This means there's no use driving 120 through the fog as you risk both fines and accidents... but i'll try to leave 3hours earlier 😂

  29. My first Newbie Lead , Drive report Now I know why leading a Newbie/Absolute Newbie level is , I would say not difficult but unique. understanding and building a trust between the lead and the fellow new drivers is crucial to the success of this first drive to them. No less is the rule of the support team on board. I was honoured having Dr @Chaitanya D and @Mehmet Volga supporting me in this drive from the start till the end whom without their calm approach and cool smile This drive wouldn’t be possible. Extending my sincere thanks to @imranaasghar81 an experienced intermediate driver who was at the tail of the convoy keeping a watchful eye that no one is left behind as well as contributing effectively in the recovery of a stuck situation of one of our friends. equally i must say thank you to every one who showed up even ahead of time to the meeting point almost ready and who shared their passion and thoughts about todays drive and did more than great even for the completely new ones. After checking on every driver and his own vehicle as well as checking the two way communication is set we moved on the track till we entered the huge sabkha where we stoped and an intensive briefing took place clarifying the important safety points pertained to this level and emphasising on the communication and convoy discipline to be maintained at all time. Then we headed to conquer the desert 🌵 Coming from leading higher levels I needed to recalibrate my style and the route helped in that the many times assisting in such drives and the pre drive discussed preparation but more than that the continuous support of all team during the whole drive 🙏 I hope the aim was accomplished so for the new ones could have the chance to initially get acquainted with their own machines in the safest possible driving environment like the desert which by all mean is far different than driving on the tarmac. It’s just the beginning so if you have got already hooked ( like I and many did ) prepare your self for more exciting drives to come taking the off road ladder step by step. @Khyber as for first time in the sand I believe you did very well. Well done . It was pleasure meeting you. @Lucasfirst time in a convoy .coming from quite far ahead of time revealed the spark of enthusiasm for this team sport. You gave opportunity to others with your crest and we deal with it. Your calmness and clear communication was noticeable.very well done 👍. @Salvador Perez very well trial of self recovery but don’t worry with practice you will become more better in it . It was pleasure meeting for first time . @Karthik Raptor what a pleasure seeing you driving the Jimny today , you proved it’s always the driver who steers the wheel even if it was a “ mini raptor “ 😅 @Nathan L and @Brett E guys you did more than wonderful today . Pleasure 🙏 @imranaasghar81 I liked the way you performed the rope recovery today so smooth and sequentially increasing intensity . Thanks for the sweep and assisting. For sure you are part of the team 👍 Great Day passionate drivers and professional team what more could I have wanted ! Thank you all and take care Seidam

  44. Thank you friends for joining the drive. Being my first lead of NB drive, was really good experience. Most were at the meeting point a head of time. Briefing done, and believe all was really keeping attention to points for a safe drive. Started moving, till we reached the pink rock, and was really amazing to see all made to the top in a short time. After that started moving again aiming to reach the big red. I can say we didn’t have any issue climbing the dunes, well done everybody. While moving to the big red, we started having some refusals, stucks and one crest. Good learning and experience for all. Thank you very much @Brette for your support, and guidance to have this drive successful. Thank you @munkybizness @Simon Dawood for your support. @brettaevans hope your bumper will be modified soon to hit the dunes again. @Sayed Bilal I think you need to practice and know your car more, to enjoy the desert more. Vtec for sure can do much more, it will come by time. @Nathan L glad to meet you for the first time, amazing job, well done @premindra rajaram glad to meet you for the first time, you have a very good car, only as mentioned to you, you need to push your heart to allow to push more on the gas to go over soft churned areas and side slopes. Well done @Benjamin didn’t hear your name through out the drive, means good job @Ajit John good to meet you. you are driving a very nice capable car, more drives and experience will help making more use of it, well done @Paul Zietsman nice to meet you, again well done. One crest with your monster is nothing @Rajat Verma nice to meet you, you made it perfectly. Hope to see you in higher levels soon Old friends and unofficial support team @Vaibhav and @Mohamad Anwer, thank you very much for your support. Thank you all again, and look forward to see you again in sand. Nice week ahead Take care
