  1. Time to find out the best combination of "4X4 + Driver" With the weather being nice now, it's soon gonna be time to have full-day drives. Number one in my wish list is to show the real off-roaders ULTIMATE testing ground, we have seen in the UAE. We have discovered this place by chance during Al Quaa and Wagan Drive back in 2018. I was deceived by a tire track on the top perimeter of this monstrous bowl. Went inside to try the same and failed within a few meters and sucked inside that humongous bowl that I have never seen before in my life. I tried my level best and failed several times to get out. Finally, we used my winch line (30 meters) and 2 or 3 tow ropes to pull me uphill. So we named it a "Pajero Bowl". A nice memory of defeat. Recently, we have seen some Insta videos of a few cars conquering that Pajero bowl, maybe by power (which my Pajero lacked) or some topography changes (we don't know), I wish to re-visit this area again with a full-day drive plan. So that all you Intermediate, extreme and above drivers with powerful 4x4 have a chance to test your "ride + skills". Trust me it's no joke, and only for serious, brave-heart YET sensible off-roaders - STRICTLY. Running a poll here before posting a drive, to see how many of you are actually up for experiencing such a place in UAE sand. Tentative Date: 26 Nov 2021. Due to technical difficulty in reaching this area plus limited space to park cars at the top, only spectators with a winch will be allowed. As we need all the winch power we have in the club to help people exit out safely. @Lawrence_Chehimi @Niki @Shaaz Sha @Ahab Shamaa @Hisham Masaad @Ilya @Christian Andras @Lorenzo Candelpergher Tag others who you might think would be interested in this. Bowl.mp4 Pajero Bowl Recovery.mp4 Thank you @Asif Hussain for digging this modified FJC climbing out that bowl. Hope this video gives better dimensions of what is really needed to get out. 4. Dear Desertnauts. Last minute info about tomorrow's drive. Thanks @Looper for bringing up the issue of gas supply: please make sure you fill up at a gas station as close to the meeting point as possible. Even though the drive should not be as long as other Long Range Desert Patrol ones, it's always best to arrive with a tank as full as possible. Having said that, just make sure you have enough gasoline to cover at least 150 Km (even though we'll drive less), based on the size of your tank and your car's consumption. The main characteristics of the drive will be first its location (as some of you already know, long range longitudinal dunes, all kinds of vegetation, wild and domesticated animals roaming free, and a variety of tracks crossing through the dunes left by locals), and secondly the exploration of the southern area of Al Ghail, toward Biyatah (rich in tall, red sand slip-faces), and the whole area from Biyatah to Al Dhaid (intended as a general area), on a track just identified by waypoints, and yet to be tested. The Intermediate denomination, in this case, has not been attributed so much for the sheer difficulty of the drive (which may very well be), but rather for the uncertainty that the terrain poses, and the necessity to face and adapt to different and perhaps unexpected circumstances. Tomorrow's convoy order will be: @Thomas Varghese in Second Lead @Sunil Mathew at #3 @Rawad at #4 @Humayun Ghias driving in place #5 @Looper in place #6 @GauravSoni in the Center Forward position @JeromeFJ at #8 @Jorge Stepniak Felippe will be #9 @Russ at #10 @Rob H in place #11, and @Mario Cornejo in Sweep. Please mind that the meeting time has been moved to 6:30AM, to allow for the longer drive to the starting point. Said meeting point will be inside Al Ghail Industrial Area, at its end end, just before the pylon ttack and the beginning of the dunes. We have chosen to tune into Carnity Radio Channel #1 (446.006). See you all tomorrow. Have a nice Friday evening.

  5. Ohhh, looks like somebody was waiting for this for far toooooo long. It wont be like Moreeb climb, that simple reverse in 10 seconds will avail you a second chance. Whoever will make out of its own, will name the bowl after that car name. @Asif Hussain time to update google maps, then.

  11. hello guys, Hope every one enjoyed the drive (except @Raman_Dbx). Todays was an eventful drive and a great opportunity for all of us to learn. We had all the worst things a drive could have, refusals, stucks, pop outs and a roll over. AS @Brette announced at the end of drive " some days are meant to be like this". Thank you @Brette for the drive and @Ashy for your support as CF. @Enrico Biscaro did very well as the 2nd lead, well done . @Joji varghese had some tough time with your Fortuner, but managed well bro. @Rsjiv Samueland @Daniel Rodas successfully managed to handle the terrain and make it through.. well done guys. @salah2u, @Nafiz and @Mohammed Mansoor did impressive .. good job guys and finally @Raman_Dbx, it was unfortunate what happened with you and hope you are done with the legal procedures . Thank you guys once again and see you soon.

  13. @Gregory @Davie Chase @Mohammed Mansoor @Daniel Yang @Pierre de Maigret @Danish Mohammad @Bernard Kalaani @topgear @Pacific @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ Hello Everybody, Thank you for joining this afternoon. It was such a smooth drive with very few refusals which says a lot about the skill of the whole convoy. We spent most of the time in the Lisaili area where we got to enjoy both the technical and the long range dunes. Since all of you were driving well, i decided to increased the pace and did more criss crossing. Unfortunately, we could not practice much ridge riding because most of the ridge was very rough for some reason. Then we moved towards Al Hathmah area prior crossing area with vegetation. This area had also lot of offer there was not much off-roaders around except one or two convoy. During the last hour of the drive, @Daniel Yang was not feeling too well, even after taking breaks he was not feeling much better. Health and Safety is paramount and i decided to cut the drive short at the end so that Daniel can be exited. He made it safely home and i wish him speedy recovery. I would like to thank all of you for your understanding, collaboration and team spirit. Many thanks to @Gregory for being a fabulous second lead, @Danish Mohammad for managing recovery and @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ for you support and keeping an eye on the whole convoy all the time. Till we meet again, take care and have fun.

  15. If Ruan wrote a report, that’s a testament of how good the drive was today 😄 Thank you @Mehmet Volga & @marks for coming all the way from Dubai to lead today’s drives. @Archibald Jurdi for CF too. Thanks to bro @Mus_hus78 for being my spotter today, the Y62 is a heavy beast, and once gone into a bowl can be tricky to self-recover without having second set of eyes to find the work-around. Lucky no need to tug, after some forward-and-back dance and finding non-churned sand, car was able to go up again 😊 Thumbs up also to the rest of convoy for able to keep up pace with the front line 👍🏻

  17. @Mehmet Volga an absolute perfectly executed drive in Sweihan this morning. And Mark for your lead during the latter part of the drive - thank you. It was exciting and some perfect lines. The pase was fast and continuous which meant that all drivers had to concentrate without interruption. I made two mistakes. Apologies @JeromeFJ for having had to quickly recover from 2 refusals which also had you break convoy and re-attempt. I had an absolute fabulous drive with @JeromeFJ at the back. Our CF were tremendous but unfortunately not too many people to dig out. Today you had an easy job with excellent drivers. Job well done. We had a few pop-outs...but that was to be expected as our leads drove like bats out of hell. Perfect! This however, was the good part of the day. Some angels looked over us today. @JeromeFJ and I were the last two cars to cross a ridge this morning with the rest of the convoy already cleared. As I was climbing the steep ridge, suddenly another well known convoy crossed the huge dune from the other side and drove directly infront of me. I immediately stopped, on a very difficult spot on the face of the dune. What is sad is that the other convoy did not even stop. The entire convoy crossed and kept in driving. @JeromeFJ can probably confirm better than me as he was seeing the incident from behind me, but the cars crosses probably 2 meters infront of my Jeep from the other side of the dune. It was a very close call. I am not a naturally scared person but this incident had me a little rattled for a few seconds. Alas, I made a loop and crossed the dune after waiting for the other convoy to clear. I dont think it was a fault of us or the other convoy.....no-one could see each other. But they could have stopped or slowed down. Keep your eyes open guys. Stay safe and have fun. Thumbs up and all my respect for the safety implemented by Carnity.

  18. Well again I do appreciate how everyone came together and worked as a team throughout the day.. excellent spirit which goes into the core of Carnity. Everyone drove well given the challenging terrain I intentionally planned for this short convoy. Specially in Newbie drives going into technical terrain is not an easy one but you all did great . Of course we all had refusals and stucks but as we all agreed that is part of the fun and learning. thanks @Prakash Anoop for the great SL today and you managed to self recover from a tricky pocket almost on your own.. well done @qaiser ijaz yes finally I managed to get you stuck 😂 not only that but you had luck of the first and only pop out in the day.. very well done man.. you drove extremely well for the most of the drive and I guess you were getting tired towards the end hence the stucks and refusals and pop out in the last 50meters @nr51mes Nathan, I loved your courage brining your brand new RAM along today and pushing the learning all the way without hesitation.. sorry for the scars on your front and back bumpers .. these are the courage marks .. hopefully next time you will strip these all out and add a bash plate and then am sure you will be enjoying without worrying what happens to the bumpers.. also pls check your manual to find out more about the sequence of engaging 2H/4H/4L which was another challenge for you today @Sanjay Malik amazing driver overall.. you managed the churned tracks at the back and had no hesitation .. you managed to get your self deep in a nice pocket calling for the mighty power of @Melenany’s F150 with great team work from the team to shovel the sand 50cm up the side of the car.. excellent drive @Melenany our amazing soldier today at the back sweeping and helping everyone to keep moving through this challenging terrain .. thanks man congratulations everyone for a successful completion of this tech drive which I am sure will continue to rememberer throughout your off-roading journey ..

  19. @Srikumar thank you for that wonderful first Sweihan experience - I am eager to go back once mother nature removes those bulldozer tracks! I appreciated all the support and guidance you and @GauravSoni provided allowing me to keep improving as a Support Team member. Thank you to the full convoy with their brilliant attitude during the difficult periods (appreciate the patience and willingness to help each other!). @Joseph Raju we hope you got home safely and that pop-out/tear was a lesson for all of us on the importance of keeping a good condition spare tire (and tools). @Richard Franks hats off to you as SL, with the many re-routes caused by the digger tracks, that was a demanding role to play today and you were superb! @Sudhanva Sonawane @Adnan Halepota @JAISROCK @Julian Pattersonin front of me and were excellent and took instruction perfectly, never fishtailing and handling the terrain well - a lot of confidence built! @Brendan White directly behind me - was great to be on a ride again and it seems we only join the eventful ones! Another super drive and evidence again you a highly experienced 'newbie' @Zed @Serafino @Thomas Varghese @GauravSoni making light of being at the back and its always a joy being on a convoy with you guys and those extra-ordinary-shovels Zed brings out to play! See you all on the dunes soon! @Zed - I want your LC100 protected and you'll understand why when you see what you can command in the US for it! - Jonathan Ward is in my opinion the greatest Resto-Mod guy ... and his Bronco's, LC100's and FJs are dream cars for me (he's slowed down LC100s due the difficulty of sourcing clean ones int he US)! https://www.youtube.com/c/ICON4x4Design/featured http://www.icon4x4.com/

  26. Yes please, due to the tricky terrain to reach it's only IM and above. As reaching there itself is quiet a task.

  27. It's quite strange that the other convoy didn't see the 8 cars coming through and still decided to make an attempt, or was there a gap in the convoy for them to think that our convoy was already through. How did you manage to get the Y62 out for a FB+ drive? Did you tell the wife that you were going for a NB drive?

  28. Thanks everyone. This is no doubt the best ride I have taken from 8 I did so far. and somehow @Islam Solimangot me stuck ( 😁 ). It was alot of fun and learning. Thanks Mr. @Islam Solimanfor such an amazing Technical drive. And @Melenanythanks for being the sweep. We had alot of stucks but we came out as a team. ..

  30. I reached home safely 1.5 hrs after being escorted to tarmac, (torturously driving 80km/r on 140 km/r highway ), the issue is more likely to be one of the cylinders not working, transmission seems fine. will have to wait till Sat to find out the true cause. Thank a lot @Wrangeld and @Alex Raptor for the easy way out, and everyone else's patient waiting. Usually jinx works well on me, last time someone wished for shoveling, I ended up shoveling my own car for nearly entire hour. @varunmehndiratta

  34. Post Drive Report There are some days when you feel you did not do your best as a lead to find a great track, or make it challenging or that you did not impart any real knowledge to the drivers. And there are days like today, when the sand has been damaged beyond reason and it's impossible to find rythym because at every turn you find that there are dangerous tracks created by bulldozers. Simply, the tracks and wake left by it from the bulldozers that have sandalized (vandals in the sand) what was a wonderful area in which we enjoyed playing in Sweihan have made it very difficult to find a line that is safe, fun and flowing. Everything that Sweihan used to be. If you sense in this report frustration and sadness, you'll be right. Leads plan drives based on the expectations we set for the drive (and ourselves) and today ... the plan was thrown out of the window, torn up and shredded into minuscule pieces. This will go down as a we did our best drive. Did our best to cover ground, did out best to side slope, did our best to criss cross and ridge ride. We also did our best to enjoy when we could and the lay bowls were impressive. Thanks all for the patience and understanding, expecially as we needed to exit Charlie along the way. See you soon in the sand.
