  3. I used the twin cylinder Camel compressor before, it lasted for approximately a year (was using it at least twice a week), on average it takes 60 seconds to inflate a tyre from 12psi to 33psi...

Apparently the Camel single cylinder compressor have a longer life span than the twin cylinder.

Now i am using the Mean Mother because of its 5 years warranty and it takes 1 minutes and 35 seconds to inflate the tyre (265 70R16).

If the shocks are bottoming out, that that will reduce the life of the shock. Bumpstops are provided to protect the fender as well as shock bottoming.Or the replacement shocks are of different dimension compared to OEM

Was this observation after replacement of the shocks ? .. I have changed the upper and lower control arms to the stock ones but the front shocks to Offroad shocks ( belstein ) 6 months ago. I was offered a lift kit and stiffer springs too but I didn’t go for it . .. the shocks might be a cause not sure . Didn’t experience such rubbing though !

Actually i was getting this issue with the OEM shocks and that was the reason i got all the shocks and bushes changed. Today, i had a look to Vanessa's car and Yousef's car, both had the trace of the tyre touching the fender but not as bad as mine.

Yes, thats a great idea to measure the gap between the bump stop and gap between the tyre and fender...i will check this out in the morning.

Is tge top side of the tyre is hitting the fender, time to change your bump stops.

Yes Sri, correct, the top side of the tyre is hitting the fender. Bump stops also were changed already together with the bushes two months ago. May be i should try to go for a bigger bump stops, what do you think?

  8. Hello Everyone,

For sometime now, i find that my front tyres are rubbing under the fender, around the fender liner/shield area (I attached a photo for the same). The rubbing does not happen on road at all, however while off-roading, the rubbing occurs occasionally when attempting a climb and descend.

My car and it's suspension system is stock. Recently i changed all the bushes for the control arms and i replaced the original shocks to KYB gas shock absorber. The tyre size also is the recommended one as per the owner's manual (265/70R16).

I wanted to know how to solve this issue and wanted to know your views as well. The suggestions i received so far from mechanics are an upgrade to a lift kit and secondly a stiffer spring on the existing shocks.

  9. @Matt.T @PaoloMaraziti @luis mantecon  @Lakshmi Narasimhan  @Nihal17 @Farouq Owdeh

Today before beginning the drive, I had to make few changes to the convoy list due to few last minute no shows.  We started from Tawi Nazwa to Pink Rock and finally exited at Big Red. Luckily there was not much traffic in the area but some cross tracks that we came across. We got the opportunity to practice some side slopping, nice high climbs and criss crossings. We barely had few refusal on the first half of the drive.

Towards the end of the drive, we got few refusals, a stuck and a pop out which was successfully managed and fixed swiftly. Unfortunately, @Matt.T 4x4 selector cable snapped and was stuck in neutral but we figured out to manually move the selector to 4L from underneath the car. It was even more impressive when we exited on the tarmac, Matt managed to put it in 2H as well and also home safely.

Thank you  and Bravo to@PaoloMaraziti to go out of the way to follow Matt, it shows great team spirit, care and consideration towards each other.

Bigs thanks to @Lakshmi Narasimhan  for accepting to be centre forward the last minute and also for keeping the convoy together, as well as your assistance with the refusals.  @Matt.T did a fabulous job as a sweep and maintained excellent communication with me being my eyes at the back of the convoy. @luis mantecon was a flawless second lead as usual and made necessary correction whenever required so that the rest of the convoy can a smooth drive.

Thank you  @Veedooshee (my co pilot) for always being by my side and your assistance whenever required.

Lastly thank you everybody for joining the drive, for being such a nice team and for showing lots of patience and proactiveness to help each other which is very important for this sport. Looking forward to see you soon on another drive, till then stay safe and take care.

@Anish S the tow point needs to be Tig welded and still in garage and hope to get by Sunday.

Shaaz is the tig welding strong enough for a tow point to use for off-road recovery, i am just curious. Personally I think it is better to get a rated tow point bolted. Because for Xterra, the stock front tow point is like a hook and few times i saw the rope slipping off the hook while recovering.

Actually @Chaitanya D would have a better knowledge on this, he has robust tow points.

Thank you everybody for joining and making this drive awesome, well done, all of you performed really well. We  manage to experience both day and night driving as well as different terrains.

Thank you so much for the comments and lovely photos, i really appreciated that. Those descriptive comments covered most of the drive 👍 , so i do not have to write a drive report😀.

Big thanks to @Tamas Hoffmann & @Shaaz Sha for the support and @Lakshmi Narasimhan & @Alain Canivet-Abikhalilfor being amazing sweep and second lead.

I hope Shaaz's tow point is fixed soon so that we can see you soon. Good to hear that Thomas's wheel is sorted.

Hope to see you all again in the sand, till then take care.
