Atif
My Prado is is around 2.5 ton and comes with a bottle type jack. Do I need to have a floor type jack and does it have to be over 2 ton rating? I notice that the 2 ton floor jack is advertised most frequently and is also compact compared to the 3 ton one. In addition, as I don’t intend to lift the whole car but rather a portion of it, is the 2 ton one sufficient or is it unsafe? Await good advice!
Popular Post Frederic
If you intend to lift the vehicle in the desert, you'll need a floor Jack, as a bottle jack is not stable enough unless you weld it on a kind of platform. When buying a 2T floorjack go for the JZX brand available in Dragon Mart or the YATO brand from Speedex. You will only be lifting a portion of the car so a 2ton jack is sufficient. A 3ton is of course better and more stable but extremely heavy to take in your car and carry it around in the dunes. 8 1 2 "Go as far as you can see; once you get there, you'll be able to see further." Rahimdad
As @Frederic mentioned in the desert the bottle jack is very narrow and does not give a good base, very unstable. Thus a floor jack of 2 tonnes should be sufficient. You are not going to lift the complete 2.5 tonnes at any given time. But make sure you're on as flat a surface in the desert before jacking the car and get a jack board as your base. 3 1

Stay away from the flimsy ones. JZX jack is out of stock from sometime now, I guess due to logistics lag after covid lockdown. It's totally understandable. 5 Let's root for each other & watch each other grow.

I will see if I can order it on line though these items I prefer to buy them on the spot in order to avoid inconvenience should it occur! Chaitanya D
3 T jack is heavier but makes lifting extremely easy once you have it in right position. As everyone mentioned the downside is its heavy to carry around Speedex has it available online (Yato Brand 2T) https://www.speedextools.com/jacks/586-low-profile-service-jack-2-ton-101720.html?__cf_chl_jschl_tk__=329806162e4776f210dc0544d520d8a0077b86ae-1607396370-0-AfsX75GG1Qgms1NeT2sfwLDX4h2vxcoYdB1g8XEGlaTvjV0knIHZqPxYMJB3EC4Pncv_QRGBs3xytkPNJB3UhY7lLGXfrkVigtSjG9hZXvshX1WZwM1BtQlTZqPMKIzfD7mh2mqN7nbF6AtxTNjx2kEPa6DRUGpPIP2Kav4g0EkH8r_UgoYrgfDOcvWy7fIHTLvGcZn-Qyw0f9_tw6scNmegCqMASf9KbRGBOf3vOluAi81a99ARAQlCYOtAWVlgHKqm6kMH3CdUSZSdGSJFXMs5i3LMz7Ec4yiYtHVJ6opJra8mhGvTEy0MDb6icvGV6eM1fTrt-hFdO6HZAbkufeDSD0eTqHVIaFOzrXS2_ZuKg_ngXE_mnCojJoqHLRq-RA Edited December 8, 2020 by Chaitanya D 2
Frederic
Try Sedana trading or have a walk around in Al quoz or Sharjah Industrial where they have the automotive tools shops. 3 2 "Go as far as you can see; once you get there, you'll be able to see further." Rizwanm2
when browsing just came across this one. not sure how good it is, but seems it has large flat surface at the bottom and could be fairly easy to operate as well. https://www.amazon.ae/Generic-Electric-Hydraulic-Impact-Wrench/dp/B07YDY3C7W/ref=pd_sbs_263_10?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07YDY3C7W&pd_rd_r=ef80e1fe-5477-4ff5-8af1-72170cd316ff&pd_rd_w=cjdMI&pd_rd_wg=7Szr4&pf_rd_p=eeb01fd4-5df5-4ddf-ada4-f6927bf8cf3c&pf_rd_r=361DR2Q4JH05VX2BM2N0&psc=1&refRID=361DR2Q4JH05VX2BM2N0 Edited December 8, 2020 by Rizwanm2 2
