If you search for "Boat Flag" on Google, you should be able to find ones on Amazon or similar. The goal is visibility. I also went to Meena Bazaar, to a fabric matching shop, got an 18inch by 12inch cloth for next to nothing, and got two grommets (eyelets) from them and had them stitched in by a tailor there. I ate some sinus clearing Indian chaat and the whole setup was done in 30mins. Indian women know all the #jugaad for everyday problems 🤣

I wanted to clarify a little bit more about the drive coming Friday and give you some extra hints and tips. * We will be starting off with gentle sand driving, so as you arrive you can deflate to 14-15psi as you would usually do. * We will be going on-road as well to cross some small villages. You can keep the same tyre pressure for that. * A big part will be on dirt tracks and farm roads, and smaller parts in the dunes as well. This allows us to cover this much distance without too much struggle. * The last part will be a rocky but easy mountain trail. We will inflate to 20PSI for All Terrain tyres, and 25PSI for Highway tyres for that. We will be exiting a few kilometers north of Masafi, in a little town called Asimah. This town has a cactus farm and also a Flower Farm which i heard is worth-wile seeing. It is only 300m away from our exit point. I am not sure about opening hours, so i leave it entirely up to yourselves to go and check it out if you are interested. Skid plate , bumper cut , and a flag mount! Should be enough even for higher levels. @Rob Soughton you did well in Liwa which is a challenge with a stock car , and hence you know it now that it is the skills than the mods which matter. you can add as the ones you have wear out - AT tires, suspension , etc. word of caution here as some garages may push you to do these mods - but make a informed decision. Once you have mastered your skills with a stock car, it becomes way easier with these add ons - the most important notably are the skid plates and the all terrain tires. Lift or suspension will be an advantage especially for ridge rides and criss crosses , but even with stock you should not have much issues .

Hope you remember my very first advise on your first off-road drive, that this newly designed bumper skirt by Toyota or Al Futtaim will be the first gift to desert god. Previous LC100 used to come with similar skirt, that if you dont remove before off-roading then it will pull and rip the whole bumper apart. Anyways, these bash plates looks nice and hope it last for a long time.

Hi all, I've been chatting to others during drives and also the Marshalls about modifications on the prado as I develop and take on more difficult drives. As I move to fewbie I thought it would be good to capture the modifications people made at this level. So what mods did you make that were esential, or you wished you did before hitting the dunes at fewbie level? What mods did you do that you feel were a waste not money and not needed at fewbie level! I've already got bash plate but considering bumper cutting. Also I'm still on maxxis HT tyres that get some interesting reactions from people when I have refusal / stuck 🤣 Thanks all!

It's Christmas, and whether you celebrate it or not it's a great excuse to give something back to the wonderful desert that we enjoy week after week - and based on the disgusting rubbish that we have seen during recent drives it's needed. Our objective is to drive into the desert and search around for and clean up as much rubbish as we can find - saving the wildlife, fauna and flora that we all want to continue enjoying. Specific Information: We will be entering the Qudra Dunes with the specific intention of cleaning up the Desert. Please make sure you bring your own garbage bags, rakes, gloves or what ever else you think you might need to clean up. Bring more passengers to help with our objective, clear out the baggage area and make sure you have as much space as possible to carry out the rubbish that we find. We will be driving into the Desert and you will need to deflate as we will need to find the worst areas of rubbish. @Nathan thank you very much! iv been out once on a masterclass with marshals from this group which has taught me alot, now comes the time to practice. during my ride i got bogged down twice and had to be towed out as all 4 were in the air.. the breakover angle is huge man! scary actually that i feel it needs more height for sand riding. tbh i have no clue which rebel i have, id like to know how to check, i dont have offroad pages on my screen, just a small offroad section on the dashboard that shows me tilt / lean ... im still figuring out what the car has and doesnt have... any advise from you would be great. .

Consider yourself lucky @Rob Soughtonwith owning one of the few 4x4 cars that are comfortable on road, yet very capable offroad as well, and with a Toyota badge the reliability and resale value are your extra gold coins. I agree with was has been said earlier, the skid plate is a good add-on, and perhaps later you can choose between trimming the bumper a bit or going for a 2" lift kit. Once the HT tyres are on their way out, you will definitely find improvement with AT tyres that will allow you to deflate further down and improve flotation.

You have done the skid plate. This is all you need for fewbie. Later you might consider bumper cut and thats all you dont need anything else.

Just had my first drive and Being a prado owner would be very interested to get some insights myself. Not that i intend to do mods anytime soon. I think i still have plenty to get out of my stock and neither have the budget 😅…but this would be good information to have.

Shuweihat Island, Location, Waypoints, Photos, Videos, Reviews and Feedback from the travellers who visited before. Shuwaihat Island offers the best mix of clear water shallow beaches with beautifully textured rocks and zero light pollution to enjoy the stars like never before. This island is a perfect place for any photographer to capture incredible shots of great variety from the sky, water, rocks, sun, beach, sea in one place. Sandstone colour rocks and low-lying cliffs that look like mini caves are mesmerizing in itself. Shuweihat Island is about 3 hours and 30 minutes away from Dubai and 2 hours and 30 minutes from Abu Dhabi. As you will be driving on International Highway E11 so be confident to overtake truckers every now and then at high speed. Although you can reach in a sedan car, but getting closer to the water or reaching to tall rocks or crossing the rocky terrain 4WD is better. I visited Shuwaihat Island on the last national day weekend and this place was very crowded with hundreds of cars. Shuweihat Island scenery is so beautiful that you can spend hours doing nothing and enjoying the nature if you plan to visit during good weather. You can enjoy the rocky formation and clear water shoreline is amazing, of course with sandals as the beach is mixed with sand and rocks. If you plan to stay here for long, you should carry enough water and food as there is no grocery or cafeteria nearby. You can fill up the petrol in the last Adnoc Fuel station at Qareen Al Aish and pack up the food supplies as this Adnoc gas station is big enough to have a convinient store, ATM, restaurant and toilets. Shuweihat Island Camping: Not sure if it's allowed everywhere, as part of Shuweihat Island is owned by Army. If you happen to make an attempt, keep it clean and less noisy and you might get away. Essentials: Outdoor clothing and closed footwear, few good torches or flashlight if you plan to stay after dark. Online GPS is a must for driving (offline is even better), carry plenty of water and food if you plan to stay outdoors for long hours. Keep it clean: Don't litter anywhere, because trash cans, plastic and glass kill wildlife. Emergency: If bitten by a snake or a Scorpio take a picture or remember the colour and size and rush to the nearest hospital for a specific antidote for that species. Keep yourself calm, so your blood pressure and heartbeat stay low to help you minimize the effect.
