Well , that was an eventful drive ! A tough recovery, engine shut off, battery burst, pop out - all in one car @Manoj Soman and another pop out for @Jona Manoj - Pls update how did it go with your car - insurance recovery and what went wrong with the electrics etc. We are curious to know whether all went well, and it will also help and guide others who may face similar situations. I had a full house wrangler with 3 of my friends joining me to get a taste of desert off roading , and they definitely got a plate full of another side of this hobby . I must also say that they were impressed right from the briefing by @Gaurav and all the ensuing events that unfolded through the drive. One of them was an Indian Army ex-officer who has done military missions offroad for reconnaissance and surveillance. Although we could not drive much , we enjoyed the track where they could see most of our dune crossing techniques. As for me, it was a great learning experience, right from the battery leak with its fluid spilling on my hand and a bit on my face, got a bit shaken when i heard the burst sound when removing the terminals. Never again am i going to remove a terminal without eye and face protection !!! And 2 pop outs to attend to , my first experience, and will not forget Gaurav's advice of cleaning the rim seat - "use all your fingers like you do your dishes at home !!!! how in the world did he know that i do the dishes at home ??? 😅😂 " To those who had pop outs - @Manoj Somanand @Jona , it would be worth to get the tyres cleaned out of all the sand which must have gone in , and get it re-balanced at a tire shop, else, you may face vibrations/imbalance. Same here @Davie Chase, good to drive with you again, and i learned that along with your regular tools, you carry a multimeter which came in handy yesterday !!! Meeting many of you for the first time @Pieter Potgieter@Quresh Pajero @Patrick van der Loo @Tareq Al Turq @ASAD. @Joseph Raju @AlexM , couldnt have lot of interactions yesterday and hope to drive with all of you soon at various levels. @Morshedi my long lost Absolute newbie mate , driving together after almost a year. @Gaurav thank you for allowing me to join the drive today in the sweeper role. Thanks @Gaurav for a lovely drive and as always i especially enjoyed the Signature Gaurav recovery masterclass over some really tough spots (incl your own in that pocket). Thanks all for making it a fun day in sand. My phone died during the course of drive (crazy One plus, phones last longer (much) than charging cable and in Dubai struggling to find the genuine replacements) so m missing the precise data. However we did some nerve testing Kms on technical dunes and some adrenaline pumping Kms of long range dunes totaling to Fun Kms of drive over around 4hrs 🙂 @Imteeaz sorry you had to exit early due to the tire issue, however you made your mark as a Solid Sweep, demonstrating immense patience and calmness. Above all, your skill with a dessert spoon in desert is undoubtedly next to none 😂😂 thanks for your support dear. @Senthil Kumar thanks for nicely executing the SL and later the sweep role. You were awesome at both. @Beide Worku man, superb drive for a first FB. The way you made your F150 roar through the drive was awesome. Looking forward to see you soon. @Morshedi almost a perfect drive for you. Very well done. @luwaimn an awesome day at work for you today - full of learning and fun on sand. Stucks and refusals are part of every off-roader journey. Was good to see you move on feeling even more confident and with a smile after every stuck/refusal you had. Kudos to you for that. I wasn't exactly close to your vehicle so cannot be specific on what was going right or wrong, however a general tip that worked (and still does) for me - after every tough drive i usually go back a step back (to a NB drive or something) to try and work out the challenging spots/areas - just about exploring oneself and fixing the minor niggles on the way. Again this is my own personnel way of learning. Looking forward to see you soon. @hugo was fun seeing your red FJ cruise through the dunes. @Amr Aydin almost an impecable drive for you today. @ASAD. Finally some Good news! Rubicon is out and ready to fly again! I went back with a spare battery along with an excellent offroader cum mechanic(Abuali) and then a team of recovery in separate car-Patrol (sent by Oman insurance....) PS:- Problem was with Winch wire,,,(as you can see in pics)..which made the short circuit....and battery popped out!

Hi Shaaz, Great drive. I missed the last part but had enough dose of super driving by the time I had left...Here is the video of us scaling up the first sand dune within 100 meters from the point of deflation! Fantastic start and adrenalin boost and it set the tone for the rest of the drives. I think all dunes in the area had our tyre prints from the sides to the top...thanks for the entertainment and Lead.

Been stuck in US since November but finally back just in time for nice weather. Parts made it through checked luggage and customs :). WI'll start adding parts next week. So far only had time to add gauges to A pillar. Came out pretty good with some left over paint and heat gun. AFR and WM injection gauges for pending Supercharger install. Start of a long project! Trying to keep stock look as much as possible. Gauges messed it up but have to have them.

The mighty Super Bowl and Iftal Bowl were no match for this convoy. Thanks @Gaurav & @varunmehndirattafor the wonderful drive. sad i had to exit before the fun started but enjoyable nonetheless. Funny enough i took the dirt track all the way to last exit pump as my compressor also died on me, and the tyre pressure was just holding fine. Went straight to the tyre shop afterwards, they checked everywhere for the leak and no problem at all. Ive have 2 pop-outs earlier on the same exact wheel though those were different rims and now on the new rims, the same side had a leak. I'm starting to think its the way I drive thats causing this on the front right side all the time but cant exactly pin-point what exactly I am doing wrong, and after the first pop-out i have been cautious not to over steer or push too hard during slide sloping. @Gaurav any advice on what could be the reason?

Thanks for the short drive today @Gaurav; as mentioned I had to exit early due to the side-wall crack and I was not willing to take risk with this crack. The tyre has been swapped now and should be ok for next week. The couple of refusals at the start reminded us that the sand is getting softer now and we will need to have more patience (and stamina) for future drives to help each other. I have tried to help with my spoon to shovel; I believe that it is now time to get a bigger one asap. Thank you all for making this drive and looking forward to our next adventure. @Ahmad Shaker your opinions are most appreciated. @Carnity always welcomes such comments from members to take into account and to do things better and more improved. So thank you very much for giving your opinions. This is something about being a club already. I agree with you that cancelling a drive is really annoying and it should be the last option after consuming all possible solutions. In such situations we already try to save our day first by trying to fix the problem, if not possible, second to assign another leader to take over the drive, if not even so then split the convoy and distribute the members to the other drives being held at the same rank and time slot. Accordingly today morning, i tried to fix the issue as it was ındeed an easy problem (battery) and i have another car to make a simple jump start. But troubles follow troubles, when i tried, i found my other car's bonnet arm broken so couldn't open and reach the poles. I even called the security to help me but no one was able to leave their spots. After around a 30 min trying between two broken cars, I consulted to @Carnity team to find an alternative way for the convoy; another leader to take over or putting you into other convoys but none was applicable as the problem happened just in the last minute same morning. Then i started calling you one by one to inform cancelling... As you suggest, a delayed start would be an option and it was already in my mind if i could find a way to fix the issue. But the day is Sunday and even if i would have arranged someone, it may result around 3 hours delay including the time on the road. @Ashok chaturvedi and @Michel Van Woudenberg were already at the meeting point when i called them and all the others were their on way so that much delay wouldnt be feasible for the most. So in brief, unfortunately cancelling was the only one option left in the end. It may not a solution other than cancelling but i really liked your opinion about "postponing". The members of a cancelled drive may be secured with allocated slots for a "make up" drive organised for another day without competing to others for RSVP. It is a fair compensation so i will definitely discuss about it with the Carnity team. Thank you for lighting the bulps with your suggestion 😉 March is not going to be easy for me so most likely i wont't be able for a drive this month but my promise will remain valid on April and onwards. hello guys. It was a pleasure to have each one of you on board and thanks for an absolute stunning drive. You all were soo amazing today making it a memorable and colourful drive. We started at 7.15, and my apologies for being late for few minutes. The convoy was ready at the meeting point when i arrived and after deflating my car, @marks announced the convoy order and we started the show with a side slope. Surprisingly today we didnt come across many cross tracks and the drive went on smooth with out any stucks. We did not use any recovery gears today except to assist the tourist car which was towards the conclusion of the first part.There were a couple refusals that were self-corrected. We got to try most of the large dunes in the region today, and everyone performed fantastic. I hope you all had as much fun driving as I did. It was great to see another Carnity convoy led by @Hisham Masaad and @Brette, as well as familiar faces like @Vaibhav @Waqas Parvez, and others. A tourist car became trapped towards the end of the trail at area 53, and they requested rescue help. Myself and @marks attempted to pull the car out, and it took us about 20 minutes to rescue the tourist vehicle. @Gok Krish and @Amir Amiri departed the drive at area 53 at the end of the first part of the dive, and the convoy continued to move further ahead through big red and pink rock area. Our actual intention was to make it to Nazwa all the way.. but then it was 10.45 already and we decided to end the drive at 2nd december street attempting a few more play spots in the area. @Ranjan Dasthank you for a terrific and vigilant 2nd lead today. Most of the time i didnt have to announce it on the radio for any hazards or for rerouting...you did it as and when needed. It seems our chemistry work well now a days. @Naveen Raj... man you were superb today with your pajero and what a performance buddy...👏👏👏 You are in compleat sync with your car and didnt even see any sign of difficulty. well done bro @Daniel Yang. did outstanding job dude.. I dont think this terrain could post any challenges to you or your Y61 today . good job buddy. @Chris Wing.. the FJ boy.. great man. It was nice to see your performances through out the drive and handled ur FJ to perfection. Keep it up buddy. @Anoop Nair.. excellent work buddy. Did have a few refusals which is mostly unavoidable for the cars at the back of the convoy in such demanding terrains. i believe you had a good day today. 👍👍 @Humayun Ghias. it was a pleasure meeting you and driving with you for the first time. You did great with your Y62, and was nice to see you conquering dunes with raw power and precised maneuvering. well done @Gok Krish.excellent work friend. It was lovely to hear you over the radio directing the drivers during refusals and i am sure you had a good time . Man .. you missed out the grand finale today 😉🤣 @Amir Amiri.. Thank you all for joining the drive. We had a great convoy. Thank you @Looperfor supporting the drive. It was a very eventful driving through super technical area, having lots of refusals and stucks which we enjoyed self recovering and assisting by tugging. I have added some pictures to the gallery. We had a relaxing night and the next time we will try to: - Make it on a Saturday. - Arrive in daylight, deflate and go about 1hr inside of the desert. - Have even more fun Please share your photo's here in the drive post, and tell us what gear + setting you have used. I took a few with my Canon 5D Mk2, Samyang 14mm f2.8, on ISO3200 and 30 seconds shutter time. In one photos I have like a star trailing effect but have no idea how that happened.
