Another fantastic drive @Ale Vallecchi, thank you to arrange during the week. I believe @Islam Soliman should change his drive to Go Tech 2, since yesterdays drive can be the Go Tech 1 😅 It was a non stop drive, we made about 82 Km, out of which about 87 km ridge riding 😉 We did no even have a chance to take more photos, the only stops we had are the bio ones (which is not good to photo for the guys while .... ) and the one @Ale Vallecchistopped to take photos for the sub set. I posted few, and can see other photos are almost the same. Thank you guys for keep moving without any need for shoveling or tugs, all saved all, since it was little hot. Thank you @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil and @Alex Raptor for the support, and look forwaard to meet again9 points

Totally agree , RR ( Ridge riding ) is a one of a unique part in off-roading in sand that require focus, approach and proper speed and distance from front car .8 points

Great drive and route @Ale Vallecchi..like everyone, i also enjoyed the margham bowls at the beginning of the track..it was real fun and we should do it more often!! We were a real strong convoy, i believe, with no major stoppages It was one of those rare drives where @Hisham Masaad and his FJ must have felt under utilised 😁...thanks for the support along with @Alex Raptor As usual @Alain Canivet-Abikhalilhandled his role nicely, probably you must be holding a record in number of 2Ls you have done...are you keeping a count? 😁😁 See you all on one of the drives!!8 points

Thank you @Ale Vallecchi Loved the hidden / secret dunes in the beginning of our journey. Quite interesting to cover all those different terrain and switch between technical, long range and of course your specialty : ridge riding. Margham - Murquab and pushed to Solar Park with a very well balanced convoy with 3 Wranglers, 3 FJs and 2 giant Raptors. I'm sure we looked very cool to the locals with their falcon 😎 I had a few refusals and early exits due to lack of momentum or miscalculating my steering, but as usual, learned a lot and staying focused I believe is key. @Hisham Masaad and @Alex Raptor great support as always. Thanks @PaoloMaraziti for the refreshments Glad to see you all in this midweek drive !8 points

Ha ha ha ha ha @Chris Wing this is one of the funniest moments for a while! @Islam Soliman Mr. Wing used the same comments to join the short wheel base drive a few months ago. His FJ is clearly the most adaptable vehicle in the whole of Carnity. Enjoy your drive Chris, short, long - clearly you are just addicted to the sand.7 points

Thanks @Ale Vallecchi for organizing this midweek hit out, its a great way to break up the working week and was a fantastic route through lots of different terrain. Thanks as always to those in the support roles @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil @Hisham Masaad @Alex Raptor for helping to keep the convoy moving so smoothly through the dunes. Was an excellent drive, everyone in the convoy doing so well to maintain a solid pace and good momentum from start to finish, I do not think I have been on a drive with so few stoppages and was a welcome surprise to not have to do any digging in the afternoon sun. See you all out in the sand again soon6 points

Thanks for today, really enjoyable and needed midweek blast, we covered a great distance, with really very little interruption, everyone was able to self recover from the few stoppages we had. In my vantage spot in the back I was able to see how the stoppages occurred, they were exclusively on the ridges, experience is the only thing that will really allow you to master these, there is no magic to it, apart from the correct momentum and approach speed and "hooking your anchors" either left or right side wheels to the ridge, once you are up there, then controlling your speed and momentum will allow you to stay up. Bumpy ridges will always catch us out and push us one way or another, but I'm glad to say everyone who experienced this realised that they would be fighting a losing battle with gravity and either steered down or self recovered admirably. Put a few pictures in the gallery as well. See you all soon, I was a little sad I didn't get a bag of M&M's.......6 points

Thanks @Ale Vallecchifor again an excellent drive, it gave great experience specially on the ridges, I understood that distance between the vechiles matters on the ridges, if incase the front vechile get slow or early exit from top ridge, leaving proper distance makes us to continue the drive on the ridge, Complete drive was a show time , all drive mates done nicely,5 points

Alex Raptor @Alex Raptor Jason Grima @Jason Grima Niki @Niki Chris Meir @Chris Meir Aisha S @Aisha S Pierre de Maigret @Pierre de Maigret Richard Franks @Richard Franks Warren Flay @Warren Flay Nikola Bozovic @Nikola Bozovic Christopher Assal @Christopher Assal Hi all, this is my normal Wednesday morning reminder that if there's a chance you are not coming on the drive on Friday, speak now and remove your name so that one of the three fine upstanding gentlemen waiting in the wings for a space on this drive can join. There's three on this drive that I don't think I have had the pleasure of meeting before. If you've been on my drives you may have heard that we do sometimes have a 'theme' for our drives. I little additional amusement you might say to allow us to while away the hours while driving. So, to avoid complete bemusement I would humbly propose that you take the opportunity to view the internetwebworld thingy and take a look at the Fast Show. The last time we did something like this, which was a Star Wars event, the Death Star landed in the middle of the Sabkah and Darth Vader appeared before us breathing heavily (it was quite hot) before using the power of the dark side to crush a Ford Raptor before my very eyes ... which was nice ... Convoy list and numbering, radio channel tomorrow.4 points

Looks like an off-road version Xterra. If it is, then selling it by highlighting an off-road spec will help fetch better value.4 points

Hello all 😊 I finally got around to checking the images I took for timelapse the night of the meteor shower meet up. Sadly it's so short and not very good; there's not a single meteor, though there are lots of plane trails that I'll squint at and call meteors so the hours of shooting aren't a total bust 😂! At least the clouds added some drama to the evening skies ❤️. I can't upload it here as the file type is not allowed but you can click here to have a look. Looking forward to the next outing 😍! There is a popular opinion that jeeps are lifted because of the look (my case). In order to help the doubters, I will leave my photos here. Comparisons of the stock version and Mopar 2" + BFG 315/17/70 BFG 315/17/70 Coopers XLT 305/17/70 (the best size for Mopar IMHO, 10% lighter, but this size is not easy to find in Dubai) Also have another pic to compare 33 vs 35 (285 vs 315), but here also different lift kits2 points

Dear Desertnauts. Just a few info from my side, after taking Vanessa's place at the lead, due to her suffering from a bad back which has forced her to stay at home ( @Vanessa8580, best wishes to get well soon!!). Tawi Nazwa to Pink Rock has been the scene of one of my first Newbie drives with Carnity. Since then, as a leader, I have not driven often in this area, so this will be a welcome return for me on the beautiful red sands of this part of UAE desert. The drive will also provide me, and the convoy, with the opportunity to do a bit of exploring, on the way to Pink Rock and beyond, in search of the exit point, which may either be 2 December Cafeteria, or even Big Red, depending on the convoy's behavior. We will proceed on likely soft sand patches, in rather technical terrain, where finesse driving will prevail (soft touches of the gas pedal, alternated to stronger bursts to exit soft bowls). Convoy discipline, in this technical terrain, will be paramount, as members will have to maintain the right distance between each other, to make sure obstacles are cleared before tackling them, and any refusal or stuck does not lead to another one, by the drivers just behind. @Alfred Alinazar, @Felix Obst, @Gerrit Bus, @Daniel Fernandez, @Ferl Brown, @Jins John, @Simon Hope, @Ramandbx, @Mohamad Anwer, @Super Safari Girl, @Daniel Rodas, @Mikhail Lukichev, welcome to the drive. Convoy order will be given out tomorrow. @Jeepie and @Alexander Alcala, thanks for joining in support. Looking forward to seeing you all on Friday morning.2 points

Jeep directly, 2 inches, ~10K (which was in the reality 3.5). After that, you can take 315/70/17 (rubs insignificantly only in very extreme cases - so good to go), but I like more 305/17/70 (rims and tires - another 10K, of course outside as Mopar rims are 2500K each). @Looper is right, lifting in the third-party workshop will cost twice cheaper, but it's not the same lift kits. Nearly all (or all) 2-2.5" lift kits will only have coil springs (and some minor things) while Mopar has coil springs, Fox shock, and some massive metal bars (I have no clue what was that - but it gives an impression that Mopar kit is "stronger') A warranty should not be the factor, I assume, as despite its a gray zone, but I never heard any problems about the cars, lifted in outside off-road garages.1 point

Hi @Looper @Ilya, thank you so much for the detailed pictures and analysis. Just one more question - where did you do it and what was the rough price, Jeep directly? Regards, Felix1 point

Hi @Peter Cullen Welcome to Carnity Offroad Club ! If you join us for the first time, you will first need to join our Absolute Newbie drive coming Friday before booking into other drives. This Absolute Newbie drive is the perfect introduction for new members to get acquainted with the club and its various guidelines. You will find the Absolute Newbie drive in the drive calendar as well.1 point

Indeed you did and indeed you did the right thing. Such drives will actually identify: Real offroaders than dune bashing oops cars bashing boys and girls. Drivers who want to test their skills than just pushing peddle. How much more we need to learn to respect the desert. Real definition of precision, patience and teamwork. How to control temptations and assumptions. Well done @Wrangeld for time and time setting these technical drives to value the essence of technical driving. Well done @Islam Soliman for opening a dedicated drive theme for serious offroaders to such a challenging drive.1 point

untilDrive Details Level: Newbie and above (all levels) Meeting time: 6:00 AM (SHARP - Without any exceptions) Meeting Point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/5nVsM5gJRN6EYMWP8 Action Plan: We know we plan to start from Solar Park. This time, however, whether we'll take a right direction toward Qudra, on an "easier" track, or left toward Lisaili, on a more challenging track, will depend on the composition of the convoy. It will be you, who sign up, to determine the composition, and experience, of the convoy. A more experienced convoy will be led toward Lisaili, a more junior one will head toward Qudra. In both cases, the drive will provide the proper challenge for all. Type of Car: Any proper 4x4 with front and back tow hooks and 8-10 inches of ground clearance. What to bring along: Loads of water, snacks (for yourself), smiles, face mask, rubber gloves, enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Approximate finish time: 10:00 AM P.S. Only join if you have a compressor to inflate your tires after the drive.1 point
