Hi @Ale Vallecchi, apologies but I’ll have to withdraw as I have a small issue with the car which may or may not be rectified by tomorrow .
I’ve removed myself from the drive list .

@JeromeFJ the pleasure was all mine! When I saw you were leading an IM drive I just had to join, it’s been such a long time since we have driven together and it was wonderful to follow your lead.
I doubt many realise just how brave you were in those conditions yesterday , yes we were all slipping and sliding, but you had to go first and pick a path that kept the convoy safe. Kudos my friend, as you plotted the perfect path which not only kept us all safe but thrilled too.
I thought everyone handled the conditions brilliantly , it was great to drive with you all, and I’m in awe of the guys at the back who got through that ‘mud’ without any issues.
Team Carnity , always a pleasure…(more pics in the gallery and a 360 vid when I get a chance)

Love it !! Thanks so much and it is so getting sent to my former copilot who’s currently travelling the world !! She’ll be so jealous!!
@Srikumar takes a 3.5t jack to the head, but still leads through Wagan, rescues multiple cars, videographer supreme AND posts drive reports on the same day! Superhuman. 👏🤣

Ah that should have been my LC's job, with all 3 gears (transfer case + front + rear diffs) re-geared, it's a towing truck meant to handle these scenarios. I'm bummed I missed the fun, but I'm glad I didn't spoil and steal your day guys 😁👍🏻👍🏻
Awe, you were missed! Glad you were unscathed and your unfortunate incident did bear fruit in the shape of Al Ain’s finest comedy police team. Those guys were hysterical 🤣

My word , what a drive!
Thank you @Srikumar for planning and leading us through this treacherous terrain , the amazing support team and to all I drove with today.
That everyone kept their heads and their sense of humour in the face of such adversity is a credit to the entire convoy. It was an absolute pleasure to drive with you all.
Nothing says Team Carnity like a Prado towing a Prado through the dunes under the watchful eye of the Crew and support team 👏
(More pics posted in the gallery. Ps if anyone has a video of me completing the legend (although somewhat diminished) that is the Pajero bowl I’d greatly appreciate it . )

Hi @Srikumar, would you agree that the Adnoc , Al Wagon Gas Station on Um Al Zamoul Road is the best option for refuelling ?
it appears to be the closest one to the start point.

I was about to post my own drive report but @JeromeFJhas provided such a concise and detailed report that I think we should leave it there.
@Vasja Zupan@Ameera AlMarzooqi @CEdric Rodrigues @Paul OR @Krishna R @shailendra singh vilkhu @Sam H
Thank you all for arriving to the meeting point so promptly.
This drive was all about the basics, I chose a route that gave you a flavour of just about everything you will meet whilst desert driving.(to varying degrees)
We had tight technical dunes which required good control and finesse. I’m amazed none of you got too stuck in there! Well done.
We crossed (up and over) fair sized ridges that demonstrated to you how much momentum you need to get up and over a dune. There were some steep drops which showed the need to cover your brake, and keep your wheels straight when you descend.
Finally, we had the wide-open spaces of the long-range dunes that allowed you climb and turn , creating nice sweeping horseshoes as we did. I think this is the first time at this level I haven’t seen someone side stuck. Great Job.
We did have some stucks, and we embraced every single one of them. I mean it when I say that you will learn more by getting yourself unstuck than anything else. Self recovery is an artform , and it is truly wonderful to see.
Many many thanks to @JeromeFJfor his excellent support and to @soumyasaklanifor being the perfect second lead.

2) Do you have prior off-roading experience ? If so please clarify
3) Does your vehicle have front and back towpoints ? This is mandatory before being eligible to join.
Tools Needed
For your very first drive with us, we would like to ask you to bring a pressure gauge, deflator tool, and a compressor to inflate your tyres after the drive. (the one near the gas station is usually defective).
The next tools you will be needing from second drive onwards, are a walkie-talkie, off-road flag, and a decent shovel. If by any chance you have these tools already you are of course welcome to bring them along on your first drive.
Welcome aboard!

Drive Report
There’s a reason I give up my free time and volunteer to take a crowd of people I don’t know from Adam out into the desert .Today’s drive was that reason! Give yourselves a massive pat on the back because by goodness did you earn your desert stripes today with a side sloping fiesta in Mahafiz! 👏
We started off gradually and slowly but surely, every single driver, upped their game, time and time again until you were pulling the most audacious side slopes, I think we saw one fishtail the whole day!!! What was the most pleasing aspect for me personally is that you all self recovered brilliantly, and steered down when you had to!
@Laura Conesa you started off a bit tentatively, as to be expected on a first Newbie drive, but I think the self recovery really helped your confidence and you didn't look back, Great job.
@Murad Hamedgreat drive today, flawless, took everything in your stride and handled your car well, Clearly nor your first time in the sand my friend, Nice driving.@karim hamandiAnother who had a flawless drive, you were getting used to your car's power too. Really nice driving.
@Yerem DavtyanI'm glad you managed to join us, it was great to see you handle the 96 Tahoe out there, Well done.
@Han Very nice driving my friend, one slightly sticky moment but you responded and self recovered well. Well done!
@Sree - FortunerExcellent drive Sree, another who had a flawless drive and self recovered.@Mo.A pleasure driving with you, you;;re really handling the jeep well and with finesse too. Well done
@Andrew McCarthyYou don't half put that Pajero through its paces mate. Great driving! Oh and your first tug in the desert too. Lucky you
@SivakumarSiva, you are my star of the day, What an absolute pleasure it was to watch you grow in confidence as the drive progressed. Your self-recovery on the side slope was excellent, and you didn't need to do it again because the fear was gone and you knew the momentum would carry you. Honestly, what a champion! Love it!
@Siddharth guptaMy quiet champion! Sitting there at the back, floating that leviathan of yours around those dunes without breaking a sweat and on your second drive!! What a drive my friend, well done!
A massive thank you to my excellent support today, @Archibald Jurdi, great to see you mate after such a long time and thanks for the excellent 2nd lead. @Alex Raptorwho was sweeping at the back, offering advice and pulling it out as he loves to do in the desert , My De Facto Centre forward @Danish Mohammad, an absolute pleasure to drive with you again, and a wonderful job done in support, thank you, and @Janarthanmy fellow xman ! Great to have you as the flying sweep!
Finally thank you to all of you for being such an utterly fantastic convoy, for listening to my instructions, following them and indulging me in one of my favourite things.
Until our next adventure 😎- 5

@Foxtrot OscarIt’s my first drive with the group, I have not completed the masterclass but have a reasonably good experience with multiple group drives previously. Can I still join today’s ride? Many thanks
Yeah, I understand that, however Carnity's policy is that you must complete 1 Absolute Newbie drive with the club, no matter your previous experience. Once complete the Marshal will review your experience and you can then join future Newbie drives.

Two Day Fewbie Plus Overlanding Expedition - Tracing The Tropic Of Cancer - Abu Dhabi - 18 to 19 Feb 2023
in Offroad Drives
Posted
A journey of truly epic proportions.
Over-landing is such a hot hobby right now but there’s not many people I’d follow 500km across the desert , so when @Frederic posted this drive I jumped on it!
You just knew that Fred would have planned it with the precision of a neurosurgeon, every path, every track and every flipping fence would have been meticulously examined.
It was exhilarating, exhausting, exciting and exceptional all at once. The Baja run near the 3/4 mark not only brushed off all my off-roading cobwebs but sharpened my skills. It felt so good to finally be ‘back’!
Thanks to everyone in the convoy for the camaraderie and the excellent driving prowess.
Many many many thanks to @Frederic @Gaurav @Srikumar and @JeromeFJfor getting us through it all.
The Freddy Express ! Yalla
