Another enjoyable weekday drive with @M.Seidam today! Thanks @Anoop Nair and @Vanessa8580 for the support, especially when it came to some creative flag work 🤣😂 Some familiar faces and good to meet some new ones. Incase @M.Seidam I didn't mention it before (hint hint 😂), looking so forward to those night drives now that the weather and sand is heating up.

Compare with RSA, AXA and Oman as they all are not fussy when it comes to off-road cover. With lot of new changes, whoever you proceed ask them to put the same in writing that offroad cover covers: Vehicle breakdown recovery from the desert (without any limitation of kms and emirates). How many times a year they provide this off-road breakdown cover. Also off-road accident is covered across the UAE desert and not just 500 m from road. I rem speaking to RSA two years back they said they can provide 2 instances of such breakdown recovery from the desert, recently I heard from someone said its unlimited. Remember what you need the most as an offroader is a vehicle breakdown cover from desert and not "pull out" service from desert stuck. This means when vehicle isn't in a drivable condition, your insurance should provide dead vehicle towing service and also covers any damages caused to your vehicle during such extreme recovery.

Fewbie Desert Drive - Murqab: Convoy 2 Trip Report "Move, but don't move the way fear makes you move" - Rumi As the sun started to raise behind Murqaab's Mosque, our convoy, reduced to a small posse by a few overnight defections, agreed to proceed independently from Convoy1, which was being assembled just a few meters away. Our group was made up of very "green" Fewbies. Yet, they all set out with eagerness and determination, even though the path I had prepared for them was not an easy one: from Murqaab to Faqa along "Desert Highway 66", then across Northern Faqa (not the usual Faqa Plateau long range dunes), and on to Solar Park through the "Middle Heart". Indeed, they all rose to the challenge, and did move as a convoy, just like the Sufi poet Rumi recommends: without showing any kind of fear for the difficulties that the terrain reserved for them throughout the drive. The difficulties for a junior Fewbie convoy were threefold: 1) the technical nature of the terrain, for the better part of the first segment, and the first Faqa stretch; 2) a huge step of very soft sand resting on top of the ridges, on the hard-face side, generated by weeks of winds blowing in the opposite direction of the prevailing one, causing the crests to be very large, soft and slippery; 3) a greater than usual amount of vegetation throughout the drive, grown from the relatively recent rains, and making approaches and exits a bit bumpy. Nonetheless, the whole convoy did great. They used patience in following my sinuous route in search of the best places to cross, took great care in listening to the instructions given, and displayed quick learning in taking the best lines while climbing the soft ridges and crossing over. A few refusals, a couple of stucks and tugs, and a pop out were the incidents that occurred during an overall safe and well executed drive. It covered a little over 81 Km, in 3:28 hours of driving (4:28 total), and 26 Km/h average moving speed (18 Km/h total). @Antony Abraham, well done with your not easy Second Lead (just a suggestion to keep a little more distance in tighter closer areas). Very good and clean Sweep in difficult terrain by @Pieter Potgieter (I hope your kid had fun!). Very positive outing, with constant improvements by @Abdul Basit Khan (in your first Fewbie drive - just remember not to cross through ridges too much in a hurry), and @Sree - Fortuner(same advice as above). Thanks to @M.Seidam for the opportunity to double the convoy and lead this fun drive. Hope to see you all soon in the sand.

I suspect the issue could be with the rim more than the driver error, I usually drive with 8psi on my geolandar in stock rims and so far no pop outs even while doing harsh cornering and long sideys.

Hi All, need your valuable advise. I have received insurance quotation from Salama Insurance for UAE and Oman covering OD + TP in both Countries with full off-road coverage. They are quoting me around AED2.7k but that's not my main issue, I would like to hear your feedback if any one has dealt with them in the past and if they are indeed providing full off-road coverage as they claim as some insurance providers only cover few km off-roading. The agent confirmed there is no off-road mileage restriction and only in case of a racing event, 500m is covered. Thanks in advance. Waqar

or slightly wider tire... I went for 275 instead of stock 265. zero Popout till date. Always drive at 9-10 PSI

Are you 100% sure as I haven't seen blacked out rims on Patrol before, or Nissan swapped with something else? Are you the first owner or second? I personally don't feel it can be driver error in your case as you've completed 44 drives. Such issue can be possible when driver recently move from Newbie to Fewbie level, but you are at IM now. This make suspicion on one wheel whether stock or not. Maybe when you slap new tire, move this wheel back with cross rotation and see if still front right pops out or not. If still front right pops - may be driver or judgement or speed. If same wheel pops at back, surely its a faulty rim. Cross rotation means: both rear tires come in front (on same side) and both front tires goes to back in opposite sides. This will help the evenly wear on tires too. Technically every car should have cross rotation at 10,000 kms for even wear, but we all are lazy. As a general rule of thumb, at every pop out you need to increase 1 PSI to find the sweet spot for tire+rims+vehicle weight. But I never seen geolandars failing at 8-10 psi, whereas you are having pop out at 12. Very strange. Hope your gauge is correct and you've double check with other gauges too, to be 100% sure that its on 12 and not lower.

Hi @Haitham Khattabyes, the RSVP went extremely fast and it does seem the internal servers had some issues to digest the massive amount of people logging into the site at the same time. To be able to split into two convoys, we would need another trip lead. Unfortunately many are out this weekend due to travels or other commitments.

If the rims are an issue, try going with slightly narrow rims. The tyre sits a lot more tightly resulting in lesser chances of a popout

@Gaurav - I’m on the stock rims. I’m having the bead groove of each rim checked too so I can raise this issue with Nissan if the issue can be isolated there. You’re right about driver error. And I admit it’s easy to blame the tire even though pop outs are primarily the result of me not driving with more care. And I’m going to work on improving my driving style. The challenge is that I don’t have a good enough way of isolating how to improve my driving style. So far, all 5 pop outs I’ve had over 35 drives have happened on the front right wheel. This tells me that when I’m coming off of slopes, or using a left handed exit out of a bowl to climb up, I need to find a much smoother angle. And also reduce my momentum exiting so that I don’t also swerve violently to avoid bumps or steps. Beyond that, I can’t think of other ways to address this. I never go below 11.5 - 12 psi on my stock rims, so low pressure isn’t really a concern right now. But I’m also now thinking that when it comes to replacing this set with tires that have stronger sidewalls, should I instead just get Cooper AT3s, or the Kumho MTs. Or as I build my rig into an overland, I take the dreaded step of getting the KO2.

new tires are with 1 year warranty, check with your supplier. Mine is around 10k km too, daily + weekend offroad. no visible dmg nor pop out so far ( I run on 10 psi with stock rim).
