@Carnity Dear friends I would like to share with you my experience in how came about and how I got my self out from what you are about to read below. Just for the one who doesn’t know me I tell you that the only place where I am super vigilant is the desert 🌵 and all my solo trips with my little one or family for a slide or quick ride had never in a time was free of one refusal here or one simple stuck there or even passing by stuck people needed help and always we got away luckily with it . .. this time no little one was with me “luckily” and I was totally alone ! Monday morning ,after a long weekend stuck in the hospital operating , I decided after I dropped the kids to school to take a detour toward Qudra my backyard my favourite and still it is 😄 for a quick spin looping most of its boarders north to south and west to east along, but this loop was meant to be completed on foot and not by car. Parallel with the pylon track and just two dunes to navigate to get to the sabkha from where I can cut short half the pylon to exit I got bogged sideway in a super soft sand when i knew i cannot make it without severely fight gravity and I came like that 👇 It was almost 9:30 am . Got down to see from all angles and surrounding. I managed to slide the car step by step ( clearing the sand walls / sliding down sequence ) and I knew that there will be a pocket waiting fro me down that I needed to take all my skills and judgment to navigate away from it tell I realised that I got a pop out of my left front tire . At this moment it was time to leave after I called my wife and my friend @Chaitanya D telling them that I am leaving my car . saving the location and after that I abounded my Xterra it was 12:30 pm almost when I left my car and within 10 min climbing few dunes I was on foot standing on the pylon track . Luckily I got a lift by one passing car to the Main Street where I got a cap to my home ….later in the evening I went back to the car with my friend Dr Chaitanya @Chaitanya D to have a look and just to realize both of us that the daylight has better and safer eyes . Thank you a ton my friend for taking all the effort and risk in the dark but most important we got back home unhurt. next day I informed Carnity seniors about the story and on Wednesday 3 pm a group lead by @Gaurav we met my self , @Hisham Masaad @Shaaz Sha @Gaurav Soni and Abdulghani ( son of Hisham ) whom they picked me up from my home place ( thank you for that 🙏🙏) and reached where my stuck car was to start an extreme recovery that ended successfully with no complications . I wish if I have a better word of sincere thank you to all of you to say it 🙏 i will leave you watch the clips for the process how we recovered the car which is better than any words Learning points 1. No matter how experience you are with all the skills and gadgets you have, unforeseen simple soft dune can turn your day upside down . I was lucky that I had half turn 😅. please don’t venture on your own is the best idea . 2. The day light has better eyes where all resources can be available. 3. Keeping cool nerves like ice when you face your self against Mother Nature and hopefully what I did was the right time in the right place ( don’t deepen in the middle of nowhere if deemed necessary solo ) 4. Analyzing the situation and giving proper feedback as accurate as possible before coming to the recovery zone. 5. Together you can do what seems impossible to be done . 6. Knowledge is power . technically I just learned that pulling the car against gravity utilizing the snatch block is so amazing. 7.it’s all about team work what bring solutions into reality .

I want to make sure when you join these drives you know what to expect as these drives are not for everyone! You still have another 2hrs to think it over (run for your life 😈).. just kidding.. My self and @Looper sincerely hope to drive with you all tomorrow and will count you in unless you have any change in plan. To be fair for the WL drivers, appreciate letting us know before 5:00pm tonight if you will not be joining so we can take the WL on as I will be closing the convoy order by 7:00pm. @Paolo Pellegrini you are 1st on WL as you are the only one with no drives for this weekend so you I will try to get you in as I'd hate to leave you off the sand for the weekend @Dr Tanveer Ahmed, stay tuned if someone dropped you will be on. Pre-drive details below: 1- Please be on time and bring all your passion for off-roading and pull as much as you can of yourself out of bed.. trust me you will need all of it. 2- Be at the meeting point by 6:30am (or before) and be ready to move max by 6:45am max (deflated, flag erected, 4H on, radio on and set, airbags/traction/abs all set....) 3- Please ensure your programable radio is on, fully charged and set to Channel 1 (446,006) 4- Briefing will be done on on the sand before we start moving 5- Please be prepared for a demanding drive which you will require your undivided attention. Bringing passengers is ok provided they will not be a cause for distraction and don't have known motion sickness or fear of heights. 6- Please ensure everything in the car is tied down and no moving objects 7- Please check all car fluids, tow hooks, and ensure no hanging parts below the chassis. 8- please ensure you come with a full tank (as much as possible) in addition to all necessary gear for this drive level specially your safety flag and radio (NO FLAG or RADIO = NO DRIVE) 9- Meeting Point: https://goo.gl/maps/UGVDtqo5Khmwf3PN8 (when you arrive please drive 50m into the pylon track to your left so you are not blocking the camels training tracks) 10. Evening all! It's taken me a week to reply as been with my dad all week and now he's gone back to the UK. Last weeks drive was absolutely fantastic one of the best in fact. Hisham you are a fantastic Marshal! Every driver made it so enjoyable and it was my dad's first experience and it blew him away he has never experienced such madness before haha! He and I made memories we will never forget and we can't thank you all enough! YALLA PUSH!!!!!!

Well @Islam Soliman As soon as I saw your drive, I clicked "Going" Only after that, I saw the drive details and your warning As much as i wanted a regular drive, I decided to go on this drive to hone my self recovery skills and also, I increased the clearance in my car so I think this drive will be good to test it. I just hope not to have a popout. Dear Desertnauts as this will be a Rush Hour drive, sorry for being late in updating you with further information about tomorrow's meeting point and itinerary. Since the previous drive ended at Faqa, coming from Solar Park, we'll revert the route, and start from Faqa on our way back to Dubai. We'll move most of the drive against the slip-faces, which may actually not be much of a disadvantage, as the hard faces in this whole area have lately shown a tall and large "step" of very soft sand, that has inhibited most of the criss-crossing attempts. I'll soon post the meeting point on the site. Please make sure that you reach around 3:30PM, so that we can start promptly at 4:00PM, for the 2 hour drive. Thanks @edouard for your scraper suggestion, feel free to add with whatever you can. Every contribution matters. What I really want someone to contribute if they have spare time is to research all the above models and get their power-weight ratio. That can help a lot of new buyers in identify Good and Very Good 4x4 than borderline/acceptable 4x4 in terms of offroad performance. Especially in sand higher the power with lightest of weight is better. Find the exact weight and hp of each car from Wikipedia or other credible sources and then divide hp by weight. Example: 1999 Pajero weighs 1.7-ton Kg and GCC specs has 225 hp = 132 hp/ton Power-weight ratio benchmark for DUNE BASHING for STOCK cars: 60 - 80 hp/ton - Underpower for dunes 80 - 100 hp/ton - Borderline OK 100 - 120 hp/ton - Acceptable 120 - 150 hp/ton - Good 150 - 200 hp/ton - Very Good 200 - 250 hp/ton - Excellent

In that case my personal vote: 400 hp any day as it will be definitely more fun in driving, cornering and quick acceleration while overtaking from 80-120 km even at highway speed. Also saving 10k dhs will fill the gap of fuel mileage (if any) for the next 5 years, lol. Another valid point for 400 is - it has already lost its first-year depreciation than the 300 one which will hurt you less in the long run.
