Keep enough distance between cars in order not to miss the track but not closer to give your self adaquate time to react in case of any situation . Vigilance and alerted senses to surroundings . Clear communication is prime especially in night drives if you step out of your car please watch where you step ( take a torch 🔦) try to avoid bushes or rocks 🪨 where the night creepers are around please wear closed foot wearing and pants which keep legs not exposed ( I know it’s hot but stings God forbidden is more burning ) please always remind me if I have missed anything. Dear Friends, @Thomas Varghese @Sam K @Jonny90 @Waqar Sarwar @Shahid Mehmood @Sunil Mathew @Tom B @Hisham Masaad Thank you for signing up for this drive. im very eager to hit the dunes tomorrow morning, Our plan for tomorrow is to get an early start from Nazwa farms towards pink rock, There are plenty of nice dunes to practice some ridge riding and criss cross. after crossing pink rock will head towards south. There are plenty of medium range clean dunes in this area which is my favourite. our grand finale will be at big red dunes as an end to our grand sand buffet... In this '70 and '80's series, one of the main sketches was called "La Zingarata", or an "aimless, wandering road trip" (the name taken from the word "zingaro", or gipsy). In the movies, one in a group of Florentine friends would show up unannounced at each friend's doorstep, to call for a "zingarata", an improvised road-trip to no specific place, in the middle of the working week, to which all friends had to participate, coming up with all kinds of excuses to leave jobs, wives, commitments, etc., going on to make pranks, and have good old fun! Hey @Mike.. I have a heat gun, so if you haven't bough one already, just stop by and borrow mine. I live in cadre villas / silicon oasis or I can bring it along to work (the fancy Al Qouz).

@Mike. totally agree with everything you have said. I also think that for a lot of members in the club, myself included, part of the fun during their off-road "journey" is to spend time researching about modifications, talking to others about their experiences with similar mods and then actually taking the plunge and getting the modifications done. Personally, I feel all the upgrades I have done have benefited car handling performance both on road and off road and has made things that much more enjoyable when I am in the dunes. Each to their own as they say!

Thanks @Tom B, my solution will probably be a combination of putting the suspensions on stiffer setting and finding a way of pushing back the front side of the liners a bit. You are right it seems mods are an interesting point of debate and everyone is right from his own standpoint as it is true that car companies spend a lot of R&D to design and eventually release cars. The way I see it also has to do with target clients and price points appealing to those target clients. Car manufacturers have to keep the design within a certain price range in mind. Same like when ur buying a villa let’s say, the contractor will design it to keep the price at X to appeal for the intended target clientele. Some customers would be interested in that villa for location or any other reason but would like to upgrade the kitchen or the flooring for example. Say a new pajero with some upgrades costs 200k which is 50 more than a new FJ or the price of a new wrangler, how many would be interested still in buying that Pajero? At the end of the day, it will boil down to taste, preference and choice. Still a very interesting point of debate

Hi @Mike.. Judging by some of the comments in the thread I bet you wish you never raised the topic in the first place!! Unfortunately the subject of mods within @Carnity is a contentionous one to say the least . That’s why I decided to keep my car as close to stock condition as possible.😉 Anyway, to your question, I had exactly the same issue last weekend with my Toyota land cruiser. Last week I took the plunge and changed my stock 18in rims and 285/60/r18 AT tyres to 285/70/r17 wheels / AT tyres. The new set up results in about a 1” dia increase . I didn’t experience rubbing on the road, but during last weekend’s drives, I did notice that when in deflated condition and when turning as the suspension was extended, I got some slight rubbing on the mud flaps. As @Gaurav says, it’s probably something one can live with, but I don’t like hearing dodgy sounds when driving in the desert so decided to get it corrected this week. In my case, and I am not sure if it can be done for Pajeros, my garage performed a body mount chop. Clearance between tyre and mud flap is now significantly bigger and fingers crossed I won’t have any issues this weekend when I give it a test in the dunes. As said, I am not sure if the same mod is applicable to Pajeros, but I am sure if you visit a competent garage you will get sound and constructive advice on how to correct the issue. In the meantime I hope you enjoy your new setup. For me it was definitely worth the investment. My LC cruised up the tall dunes in badayer last weekend when previously it had found it a struggle.

But as you mentioned this night drive may be more challenging for me because this is the first complete night drive which I signed up and I don't have additional lights also. So I planning to leave the Saturday morning drive.

Once I think I can survive without depending on my kids for financial assistance without me working. All these years I was investing on their studies. By the grace of God all of them completed.Daughter is a manager in a hospital and married. Son is an Aerospace engineer and working in Bangalore. Youngest daughter finished her B Com recently

I don't think so if i join the night drive i will be able to the morning one @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler. Honestly i wish to try the night drive as i never tried it before. with the new big light bars i installed recently, it will be enthusiastic. 😉

@Joseph Raju I see you have signed up for dr Seidams drive which ends at 1.30 am… this drive would start at 5 am. Are you sure u can have your full concentration in morning after an already demanding drive? I highly recommend you reconsider… I don’t want a situation where u cannot make it for the drive after confirmation.

Rightly said @Mike.… these machines are our boy toys!! We do these mods to make ourselves enjoy the ride…and every mod has its own good and flip side..what @Thomas Varghese says is also right which is the loss of power due to the heavy tyres but it shouldn’t matter as long you enjoy your ride.. it’s not a competition of who can climb higher or go faster…you probably will have less chances of pop out with more side wall! And better traction during self recovery..
