  1. Thank you @Frederic and @Gaurav . I was actually considering buying the ARB one. What stopped me the price and the weight of it. It is so bulky and heavy. What about this one

  2. Again, one of the @Lorenzo Candelpergher drives, add to it area 53, so imagine the result 😅. With all challenges, I am sure all has enjoyed, and left remembering the drive the hole day, and may be even had good dreams during sleep 🤪. We had three main issues, which in my opinion:

1- refusals and stucks : these are normal, I am sure many of us were frustrated, some declared it, some kept it secret, and some mentioned in person. At the end, this is the desert and off-road drive, were we should enjoy each part of it

2- Over taking : this was happening @Lorenzo Candelperghermay be more than normal, since of repeating refusals, sometimes, making more since to overtake, otherwise will have much more refusals and stucks. But immediately, after over taking, all should wait at suitable locations, to reorder the convoy

3- Splitting the convoy : this happened due to the fact that when someone was not able to cross the dune, and continue on the same side, all was following him. In this case, and depending on the situation, I thinks others should try to hold till this driver attempt again and cross  to the other side, or cross and wait, which is similar case to point one. The other reason for splitting, which I noticed @Lorenzo Candelpergher, when sometimes you mention to hold for some reason, and then you start moving, one of the drivers did not move (and rest of the convoy is behind him), waiting for your instructions to move again. By the time he realize he need to move, he find he lost the track and move in different direction. I this situation, I believe when you ask to hold, and start moving, and SL start moving with few behind, all should move, since moving without mentioning to move again, should be considered as "move again".

At the end of the day, was really fun, and happy to see all enjoyed, specially @Watteauwith so much laugh. Thank you @Mario Cornejofor being SL, and very happy to meet you again @M.Seidamafter long time.

As usual @Lorenzo Candelperghergreat drive full of fun but to be honest for intermediate drive the performance were poor and disappointing specially at the beginning with too many refusals and simply keeping the convoy in order.

Just a friendly suggestion for such drive there should be a “Minimum Intermediate Drive”requirements.

Have good weekend friends. Will see you 🔜 on the Sands.

Can you explain that @Abu Muhammad, what do you mean by "minimum intermediate drive" to join an IM🤔🤔??

That is not an option anymore.

FJ, no doubt is a very well made car and has better put together overall, but If I were to go and buy a new vehicle, I'd still not buy a FJ since I don't really like the way it looks like. Irrelevant to the decision but the FJ was designed as a concept in 2003 and Toyota decided to launch it in 2005. It is such an old model and they aren't even trying to refresh it. It is perhaps only available in the Middle East and nowhere else. Toyota just left it to die a slow death.

You have so much in your heart against fj @Looper???? 🤣🤣

  5. Thank you @Enrico Biscaro for initiating the topic. I ve driving 4x4 cars since 1997, and never thought to go off-road. I am a person of work and home only, and if I go out, I go Fridays and holiday with the family. Sometime about 2015, was on one of sites in Nad Al Shiba, and upon leaving thought will make a short cut, and cross a small sand island to the road. Was driving Nissan safari, and got stuck. Was summer noon time, and had to call one of the drivers with 3 tons pickup to pull me out 😅. I was the joke of all whom he heard. In 2016 decided to take a one course with one of the driving institutes. Did not go much in the desert, since was driving Y62, and second drive with Nissan guys, all bumpers got damaged me and all others similar. Decided to stop again, till I bought the FJ from one of my friend in Oct 2020, where I joined @Carnity, and turned out to be a different person now.... 😃

@Enrico Biscaro I'm glad that you have figured out the tow point mounting hole in your Mercedes today.

I thank you and your family for their utter maturity and sensibility to understand the importance of safety.

Trust me, we as a trip lead feels more bad and sad to send anyone back, but emotions have to take a back seat when safety is in question. We only require a strong and rated tow point from your vehicle to rescue from difficult stuck and in absence of one, the recovery process is extremely risky, tedious, and sometimes even impossible.

Thank you for your understanding and I look forward to driving with you soon.

Good morning @Enrico Biscaro I think we had the same experience. First experience with @Carnity is that I joined for one month. One AN drive was good, then the last day in that month I joined the first NB drive. Had my family with me, reached meeting point, deflated, flag on. Went to the lead and asked him for the radio (thinking radio to be given same AN), he said no more, you need to have the radio. Sent me back😢. Since every thing was ready, thought will go for solo drive close to the main road, in case something wrong at least I am not far in the desert. At the first slope, every one was screaming in back seat. Immediately stopped, and found I was so lucky to be sent back. Since then no one is joining except my son Abdelghani. Next day registered for a year, since was confident this is my place, and radio was ready😀😀😀. Apologies for the long story

Thanks @Niki this recovery seems will take it's time...after effect of visiting gym after a long break. I don't know why I always forget the rule - logically we pay to get our work done so that we don't have to sweat ...not pay the gym and sweat...😂😂

I surely missed being on this wonderful drive was looking forward to it (ofcourse the description from @Wrangeld is further adding to my pain of missing out) More than that the cupcakes in my car missed you all - we have been blessed with a little doll just 11 days back (that's why wasn't on drives for two weeks). Not an issue there is always the next drive and always a new box of cupcake...and hopefully soon our little one on one of these drives..😃 See you all soon.

Congratulations @varunmehndiratta for the new baby

  9. Was an amazing drive today @Jeepie, thank you very much. With the team who was really coping with different terrain, made us enjoying the drive without the need to go out for support except few. It is the first time I go with you as lead, and hope will repeat again. Glad to see @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil as SL and controlling his car, climbing up the dunes.  Pleasure to be with @Ranjan Das again as support, @Zixuan Huang - Charlie @Sunil Mathew @Chris Wing and @darren thompson thank you for joining and saving every one from spending more time in the sun and out of cars..👏👏👏👏 see you soon in sand
