48 members is small percentage as we have 299 members in group. request to review your policy so more members can have fun .

In this difficult times whole world "policy" is to stay safe and continue doing what we were with minimal restrictions.

We were probably the first offroad club in the UAE to have "COVID Compliance offroad drives" posted publically by implementing strict restriction to safeguard everyone.

To be in full compliance with authorities guideline and yet manage the convoy, we have restricted each drive to 10-15 cars at max. And doing that itself was a borderline challenge that we have to issue a new ban policy for the first time in Carnity history last week.

I fully understand your enthusiasm and disappointment to not to able to join the drive, but wait for tomorrow as we always have maximum plus and minus on Thursday.

And once you drive with carnity offroad club, I'm sure you will understand that why drives here get filled within few hours of posting.

Kindly make sure that your name is in the wait list for the drive that you wish to join.

I am really disappointed by bringing me in newbies .. as I always joined fewbies . Any how good luck . I must find another solution for me . As from the last two months I did not attend any rally as always showing full .

You must have been mistaken, somehow.

    You joined on 5 March

We had last drive on 20 March before covid.

After covid, we haven't seen you yet. So you cannot be promoted in 2 or 3 drives my friend, as it needs 5 drives.

Secondly if there was a promotion we always keep that promotion announcement in offroad discussion section, which I cant find for you.

After covid, all drives are getting full in first few hours of posting and that's why we post all drives at same time to give everyone fair chance to join.

Hope you are a part of WhatsApp notification group to receive drive messages in advance?

  5. Volvo indeed makes good cars and people all around the world appreciate their safety and gizmos. Matching the safety level is actually mandatory since few years now so almost all "Good Manufacturer" lives at par with those safety standards, as it has become an industry norm than a feather in a cap.

Coming to "SUPER BAD" resale value let me explain that it goes much deeper and beyond than just the monetary loss, even if you can afford to loose over 60-70% of the car value in 3 years. Because any car resale value is purely based on the market dynamics and demand because of its:

    1. Performance
    2. Reliability
    3. Quality
    4. Ease of spare parts availability - new and used
    5. Long lasting in GCC harsh climate.

As we don't marry a spouse because she has a wonderful pink gown, but we marry because she is understanding, dependable, strong and reliable. Same way buying a family car worth 150K for driver assist features is a way too long shot.

I understand that you have made up your mind, but please before buying:

    1. Do test drive with those driver assist features and make them justify for all the odds that you are getting into.
    2. Do test drive other brands, they may not have futuristic driver assist features but they have pass the test of time.
      1. Little above league - Lexus GX, BMW X5, Audi Q7 - Go for little older model (to fit in 150k)
      2. Little below league - Patrol, Land Cruiser
      3. My personal recommendations as per priority-
        1. 2017 Lexus GX460 (Highest Recommendation) (150-160K)
        2. 2016 Lexus GX460 (130-140K)
        3. 2014-15 Lexus LX570
        4. 2018 Toyota Land Cruiser
        5. 2017 Lincoln Navigator (if you need 7 seats with "True luxury")
        6. 2016 Cadillac Escalade (if you need 7 seats with "True luxury")
        7. 2016-17 GMC Denali (if you need 7 seats with "True luxury")

Maybe for this country it is not the best choice but you need to own one to understand. Back in Turkey my grand father had S60 2.0T it is still one of the best driver car i have ever driven. It is luxury enough, it is comfortable yet sporty. It has plenty of power, it is the brand everyone knows when you talk about safety(you should see those A pillars it is bulky). If you ask the people drive Volvo here you will hear they bought it because they had it before.

Every country dynamics is way different based on mindset, choices, fuel price, economic condition and above all weather.

Let me not bring Indian, Chinese or Russian HERO car brands in perspective who are nothing in the UAE.

  8. Check these two options

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Complete-Lift-Kit-45mm-for-Volkswagen-TOUAREG-2010-2018/114157310435

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lift-Kit-for-VW-Touareg-10-18-Audi-Q7-Porsche-Cayenne-1-8-45mm-strut-spacers/283467500726

You can buy the cheapest one, as you don't need them for a long time anyways.

Even if they last a couple of months without sagging, you can do a quick test if you like offroading or not and then decide accordingly.

@Gaurav  you mean something like this, right? https://www.forgemotorsportoverland.com/products/vw-touareg-porsche-cayenne-lift-kit?fbclid=IwAR20YAmNle1gsvHV2WJRo2FAfabwmLw3-48Omz9gLH8GteUT9MHldLJIbgE

I like the idea but not sure where to find in Dubai and a trusted place to install them.

    Thanks for the advice :)

Yes it's same, but I'm sure you can get it cheaper.

Post your question here (new post) and see if anyone have sourced these before?

And don't worry about installation, it's pretty straight fwd job for any half way decent mechanic.

Just to double check that this will not effect to Carnity off-road drives as such. Will those continue weekly basis as usual ?

To keep continuing the off-road drives safely, we have come up with this strict warning.

Thank you @Wrangeld for this fantastic report, I appreciated your company too and would love to join again and again. I am already spending a good time exploring the internet looking for the available lift kit options for the Touareg 🧐

Here comes the sand bug. Welcome buddy.

You are on a right track @amro elshafey same I wanted to advise you, that if you like this hobby and you wish to pursue to test it more then look into "TEMPORARILY" lifting the Touareg with 2 inch spacers so you can drive at newbie level more peacefully.

And spacers are totally reversible mod, so whenever you are done with this hobby or with Touareg to go for dedicated offroader.

Remember, not to spend big money as Touareg may not be a good all time offroder and you might or might not face issues with VW in the sand.
