You can add multi turbo’s or manifold changes to a pajero to give it more power however I’ve noticed a stock 3.5 gets to 99,5% of the locations in the sand of UAE if you use technique and sand reading.

Use bowls to climb the bigger dunes as they can be used to keep the momentum, but also try to keep the weight in the car down, if you have a third row remove it as the 35kg makes a difference being behind the rear axle

My car had twin pop outs on smallish bushes which caught me by surprise.  With the monster 3T jack which@Mels Wolf has we were able to fix them rather quickly.Thank you for this improvisation.

Opened my wheels and cleaned the sand inside ( attached pictures ). Quite a lot inside the tyres and I wonder what will happen if left inside ?

 

If you keep the sand inside it causes vibration at higher speeds, and causes imbalance of the tyres very annoying if you have to drive back to Dubai! Happy to see you got them cleaned! Badayer tyre shops are luckily quick and cheap! Make sure they also balance them after cleaning as sometimes they try to be really “quick”

@Emmanuel, the difference in the apps is due to the time in yours stopping when stopping the car... also my gps is based on start and hitting stop not just the actual drive time!

@h1fny, congrats well deserved! They don’t get stuck indeed although I have videos of how to do it  

@Gaurav, I was pretty sure it’s the transmission oil cooler in Gen 4, that doesn’t have an engine oil cooler that I know of...

That heavily depends on the quality of the fans you are using... but think around 700 incl brackets and fans

Great stuff driving Pajero! To add onto the above mentions which are very good I found that the inlet of the air intake has a water drain which in the uae case also gets blocked with sand. And the easy removal is taking the rubber bottom off and rinsing it with a garden hose to take out all the sand (see the picture)

Congrats @Melenany, driving that F-150 isn’t always easy with trip leads wanting to cross straight but you’ve shown it can easily been done with a long wheel base! Looking forward to seeing you on the other trips!

Check my earlier post on the Gen 4 Pajero summer mods which for some reason I cannot find anymore ?? @Gaurav

I have the following setup which till now works without any issues;

- extra fan for the a/t cooler connected to the stock condensor fan so when you use the ac the condensor is also on

- extra condensor fan inbetween the a/t oil cooler and condensor next to the stock condensor fan with a button on the dash to turn it on (this also helps when you get the car out of a hot garage to help the ac cool or down quicker)

All fans added with metal brackets as per attached pictures (one with the loose fans for placement one with them all fixed)

What an amazing drive with all of you, great pace and I and @Frederic didn’t have to break much sweat on the very few stucks. But a great hand goes out to all who have practiced and mostly successfully done their self-recoveries.

The Wranglers have shown how not to get stuck or hit any dunes; @Neale Faulkner, @Taha Elghuel and @Jeandre Bezuidenhout.

A bit later than planned due to some family activities for the rest of the weekend, but great drive by all of you! @h1fny that managed to get his first stuck that his friend @Neale Faulkner just missed out on as he was still on the other side of the dune. @Kieran McKeown showing that in order to control the Duster it takes some experience which grew fast during the route, @Lisa Pemberton trying out new lines along the way learning how to recover herself! @Enoch Mbatiah figured out that the Pajero is actually a pretty good off-roader  @Omar Shoukry who learned the tricks in his Explorer and the technical settings his car brings. Indeed the unfortunate event with @Mohamed Seidam who had to exit early.. (I hope they managed to get this solved easily) @Vineeth John Joseph showing how an Xterra needs to be driven slowly seeing the power his car has! And also having the 2 JK's in the back with @Miguel Ibarbia and @Hennie Schoeman showing real wranglers don't get stuck  !!

We recommend this to disable ABS to not to interfere when you want your tires to spin (sometimes) on the sand.

Im joining the convoy tomorrow morning and also drive a gen 4 pajero, let me know if you need any further help!! You should be able to easily manage this first drive with a stock pajero!

@Rahimdad, to me it seems like one of the most important things to learn when off-roading, which is when to stop rather then when to continue.... the car stops going forward and slide sideways, stopping at this moment probably would have prevented the rear Tyres digging in causing the flip... besides the angle and speed of attack I guess this is the biggest take-away...

@Colin Jordan Well deserved! The continuous push to develop yourself further has paid off! The last stuck I had I really needed your help and we got out safely!

I unfortunately already used the rope more than I figured I needed it yet, it's got great strength which will help us in any potential recoveries tomorrow! I even have half the rope colored green because my radiator coolant leaked from the can in the trunk as an extra effect!

@Jose Martin, it was a great drive just over a week ago happy to also see the newer generation Pajero to make there way up.... (although this probably brings some controversy) but great driving so far hope to see you soon again!!
